Flyers have worst powerplay over the last 5 years… No change coming???

  1. Other teams power plays look like all star rosters, ours looks like we grabbed a couple guys at the gas station and said, we ball.

  2. I think they scored more goals shorthanded than with an extra man this past year – ha – pathetic – maybe they should change sponsors for the power play – pepto bismol has a shitty ring to it.

  3. Our powerplay coasted on the back of Giroux for years. We just took it for granted like every center out here can QB a powerplay.

Getting rid of Ghost was a bad move in hindsight as well. His powerplay abilities outweighed his defensive liabilities imo.

Drysdale staying healthy will be key.

  4. Yeah Michkov should change things. A guy who is able to hit Foerster in the slot should change how Foerster looks on the PP. Tippett’s shooting more. Hopefully Drysdale getting reps will help. For the future, it seems they think Luchanko should help out on zone entries and probably working from behind the net. Frost is a question mark for me but I hope he puts it all together this season

  5. A shit power play is the only reason they didn’t make the playoffs last year so if their plan is to continue getting high picks then making a change for the better seems antithetical.

  6. I was kind of hoping we could have added ghost for like 2×3.5 just to give us a little juice on the pp. But that’s probably just my heart talking instead of my brain.

  7. People worry too much about this. When we actually get high end players this will be fixed by default. Who cares about improving the PP right now if the team and PP will still be mid no matter what and half our PP1 will be different in future?

With our current roster the PP and team will never be good. But when we get better players like Michkov then it will no doubt improve. If it is still a problem after that then we should start talking big changes specifically to PP.

I will say it is crazy that Rocky is still the PP coach after being dead last both years.

Im hoping Foerster, Michkov and Drysdale can at least give the PP some consistency in the meantime.

  8. G was the reason we used to be good. But, Michkov will definitely help right the ship

  9. As a bit of eye candy, I’ll admit that while last year’s powerplay was indeed bad… It seemed that we were much better at zone possession and opportunity creation. Bottom line, we had no real goal scorers. Now I don’t expect a light flip by adding Michkov, but maybe over time as we add more talent, this system could get better.

I understand that this system is for current players and not future players but I feel throwing away progress from last year would be a waste.
