  1. One of them might never be able to walk up stairs again so i’ll take D-Lo

  2. Not sure there’s a D-Lo trade that makes sense for us. He’s not really a salary dump candidate; he’s a productive player on a good contract. He’s worth more than this, and I’m not sure we are interested in selling off assets for expirings right now. I’m also not sure that taking on Ball’s contract for that reward is worth zapping our flexibility.

  3. Nothing that doesn’t get us a first (which both teams could offer).

  4. I’m hoping Sacramento gets DeRozan in a S&T. It sounds like in order for it to work, sac would need to move Barnes and Chicago would need to move Jevon Carter, both to a 3rd team. That might actually get you a 1st round pick from sac since it’s 50 mil over the next 2 years and both players could be serviceable.

But to answer the question, I’d love a healthy Lonzo long term and I’m not a DLo fan so I’d gamble on Lonzo

  5. Russell is money in the regular season and atrocious in the post season. Since we’re not going to the playoffs, I’d take him.

  6. Risky, but if Lonzo proves he’s reasonably healthy in the first half, his value at the deadline could be pretty good. Expiring, so the risk isn’t too bad compared to LaVine. I’d probably do that deal. Those seconds might be decently valuable. Roll the dice on that knee.

  7. Both are good trades for us but i don’t see why the bulls or lakers would do that trade

  8. I’d love both, but don’t want them to take critical minutes away from Ivey. Pass at this point honestly for development’s sake.

  9. I think I would be willing to do both trades. Little downside with one year left on deal with the upside of getting a starting quality point guard on our team. A healthy Ball would be an awesome fit on the team, albeit I doubt that player even exists anymore at this point.

  10. I would have to get picks back along with D’Angelo for taking on the contract but I’d rather have Gabe Vincent instead in the deal.

Additionally you need to sign and trade derozan to a contract. In that deal he isn’t counting against cap bc he’s UFA. Based on cap, derozan would only be able to sign for around 20 mill max to lakers. He’s seeking 30+, maybe he takes a pay cut ? Idk. Lakers would need move off Vanderbilt and/or Rui.

  11. Horrible trade why are we getting no draft capital to take on a contract

  12. Lakers have other salaries before Russell they’re moving if they’re on the hunt for DeRozan.

I’d take either deal. Pistons are in the position they can take a swing. Lonzo could end up a long term piece if healthy.

  13. You’d take both, but I don’t think either makes sense for CHI – which means they wouldn’t make the trade.

D’Lo (contrary to what many seem to believe) is actually a good, if not inconsistent player. He is NOT a salary dump. So adding in a late 2nd (in a draft that has already passed) as your only contribution to the trade wouldn’t slide.

You wouldn’t trust D’Lo in the playoffs, but this team isn’t getting there any time soon anyway. He provides real PG playmaking qualities but can play off-ball too. Just let him and Cade (but mostly Cade) take most of the ball-handling/playmaking duties, and then stagger them throughout the game so there’s always someone who can feed others. He doesn’t really put pressure on the rim, so pair him with Ivey and Ausar most of the time.

Even though CHI doesn’t own their pick this year, it’d be pointless for them to burn assets to salary dump players like Lonzo or Lavine. They’re going to be bad either way. But if they’re for real about shedding a 1st to get off Lavine… sure, I’d hate him as a player and locker room malcontent – but getting a CHI 1st can be SUPER valuable. I’d take that on with all the cap space and then just eat all the cost by buying him out or straight up releasing him.
