Happy 41st birthday to Marco Estrada, a Blue Jay who deserves more recognition. 6 postseason starts in 2015-16: 41.2 IP (nearly 7 IP per start), 2.16 ERA, 34 K, 2 BB. Legendary line. Jays lost 3 of his playoff starts. Here’s how many runs they scored in the 3 losses: 0, 0, 0

  1. At his peak, what can you say, he was as good as they come, making the All-Star game in 2016. He had great stuff during a time when the Jays were fun to watch.

Unfortunately His decline hit him hard though and was finished by 2019 but what can you say during those playoff years he rose to the top.

  2. “0,0,0”. It’s almost like he was pitching for the 2024 team, if they could have miraculously managed to make the playoffs.

  3. I wear my Estrada jersey when I go to games. Loved that guy. Not a fireballer by any means, but when he was on, his control was absolutely deadly.

  4. One of my favourite Blue Jays pitchers.  Quiet, humble and damn good.  He came so close to so many no hitters

  5. Will always remember they discussed on the broadcast how he kept a softball with him in the dugout bc he didn’t have huge hands, and the softball made tbe baseball feel smaller and easier to grip

  6. Game 5 of the 2015 ALCS. The Jays needed a win, and he pitched a gem. I will never forget the sound of the ovation the crowd gave him as Gibbons came out to the mound for the ball. It still gives me goosebumps.

  7. Definitely one of my favs, such a wicked changeup. Love that he succeeded by being deceptive and crafty, a real old school pitcher.

  8. That fucking change up man. And the way he held the glove and peered over it into the batters soul. Then would slowly deliver the pitch with perfect mechanics every time and the hitters shit themselves over an up and in 88 mph fastball because the change up devastated families.

I genuinely love this man and I would not pick a single pitcher from those years or since over this guy in a big game. Just absolute stones.
