  1. So if I’m reading this correctly, even if he plays every game for the rest of the season, Meadows will still be a rookie next year despite playing at the MLB level in 3 seasons.

  2. For those confused, this is pretty classic service time manipulation. Basically, it pushes both Meadows’ arbitration (when he’d be due for a raise or non-tender) and free agency back a year.

    Honestly very shitty and transparent for an organization that says it’ll give guys “runway” to play in the majors while also holding them down until it’s financially advantageous.

  3. All of the manipulation scenarios apply only in a world where he is never optioned again. His body of work doesn’t really suggest that.

  6. Ok, call him up and use him for defense in the 8th and 9th if it’s a 1 or 2 run game. Hinch loves the bench options. Sounds like they businessed well on him.
