it is a hot steamy Friday evening here at Yankee Stadium it’s also Seinfeld night where everybody gets a bobblehead of George castanza and yada yada yada what a difference a couple of weeks make on June 15th the Yankees were 28 games over 500 coming into today’s series The Red Sox have climbed to within four of the Yankees in the LC the Red Sox picked up eight and a half games on the Yankees in that time you got the right guy during the last 19 games games the starters for the New York yles have had a 704 but Nester in his four starts has been 296 swing and a miss got him to ran down on strikes here’s Rob ref Snider former Yankee swing and a miss a strike out happens again two in a row for Cortez so ref Snider down and here’s Tyler O’Neal and that one is looped into right field coming on is SoDo and he slides to make the play robs O’Neal of a base hit that’s a nest eg a one two three for neter Cortez Conor how having a good here seven and six Tanner trying to regroup after a tough outing against San Diego yeah how was good those first three Innings and then that fourth inning into the fifth inning lost some command lost some breakoff of his sweeper Ben rice the Cohasset kid leading off for the an left hand batter his first Maj home run yesterday he’ll pop that one up down the left field line racing out de O’Neal coming on rfy still on the Move makes the play and then goes hurling over the tarp up into the netting what a nice play unbelievable just flat stayed with it he never conceded anything the awareness of rafy De to know that the tarp is right there and to leave his feet because I always worry about knees and ankles on that tarp right there a really good job Soto going into another All-Star game named to his fourth career allstar game that’s in there strike three he’ll take the seat here’s Aaron judge judge Mr Everything 300 314 average 32 homers how much better can you get at Short Stop gobbled up by raphaela and nice quick start for Tanner ha he gets a one two three Ry Des a splendid defensive play in the first inning now a lead off the second no score after one in the Bronx swing and a miss three strikeouts for Cortez in the first four batters and it’s important that he gets these lefties out because you look at ref Snider O’Neal and Wong they kill left-handers Roman Gonzalez will be next that one tagged in the left field driving back for Dugo racing back that’s over his head that’s going to th against the bottom of the fence and Gonzalez is into second base and stop there with a double coming with two downs so with two away Yoshida will try and pick him up M at 259 swing and a miss strikeout number four for Cortez no runs a hit no errors and one man left on base in inning and a half in the books nothing nothing here’s Verdugo leading off Tanner H at a one two three first inning that one behind the bag nice play Gonzalez he’ll flip on in time for the out he got behind the base and made sure he kept it right there at the glove and steals one from Verdugo and one away I tell you what Roman Gonzalez is an athlete if you stick him anywhere he’s going to give you above average defense ranging towards the line FL side slides 360 nice flip to tenal for the out and another one two three neeg in the third scoreless game Yankees and Red Sox looks to be a cell just about ready to pass over us here at the Ballpark the grounds crew came out and started placing the tarp down so we are now in an official rain delay here on this Friday night no score well all things considered not that bad not that bad at all the Red Sox have retaken the field the field looks great rain delay was 38 minutes Cortez and Hal have put zeros up over the first two and a half buy lines it base it center field so after the rain delay Yankees have their first hit Anthony bupy plants one in Center so slow footed lameu at first vulpi at third and here comes Ben rice the Cohasset kid who follow the left ground ball bounc the first Fair ball here’s a throw down to Second and will the run count and the Run does not score as bupy slowed down at home plate so he did not touch second before the runner was tagged and the home plate umpire was watching it and said it did not score watch this that hold up right there cost him well that that’s simply inexcusable that the Yankees didn’t score there at this point really you can’t make this stuff up Yan need runs they want to jump out ahead and not play from behind you don’t understand how big that first run is just to get a lead they haven’t had a lead in so long so backto back Full Count walk stto and judge until the guys following them show that they’re going to drive them in that’s the thing that teams are going to do they’re going to pitch around and you don’t want Second was wide not handled by rafhaela and the Yankees finally catch a break they’re up one- nothing well I don’t want to sound like a broken record but we’ve talked about the defense the shoty defense that Boston has in the infield they just gave him a run this is a tailor made double play just off Target e on the second baseman yeah his Fifth Air of the year how has kind of lost great command of the strike zone he’s making some pitches but lot all over the place there’s ball four that’s going to force in a run an RBI for buy judge will cost the plate the Yankees lead to nothing and here’s Al Al cor that’s enough of Tanner H so Hal lost the strike zone after the rain delay six up six Downs before the rain came and then he wasn’t throwing strikes as consistently Red Sox go to the pen ground ball and grabed there by Valdez they will get the out of first another run scores as Cabrera crosses the play Yankees lead 3 nothing in RBI for Grisham three nothing Yankees now and Roman Gonzalez will try and dig in against Nester Cortez who’s been very tough High fly deep to left field this is drilled and that ball is out of here Romy Gonzalez tags one to get the Red Sox on the scoreboard that is his first and that makes it a three to one game well that’s a shot of life it was all over this one the Siri Zer the Yankees lead the Red Sox 3-1 and Neer Cortez back out there for a sixth inning strike three got him on a back door breaking ball O’Neal down looking you’re going to appreciate the framing of this pitch yeah O’Neal didn’t like it they’re ready to go Third Base side looking for another one two three swing and a miss sidearm has been really good for him David con a strong six innings for Nester Cortez allowing just one run he’s pumped up and the Yankees are up and Luke Weaver first out of the pen Gonzalez with the bun Weaver wow you talk about what a play good play from a pitcher to slide into that to know that you have to slide come up and throw a bullet what a great play I mean he slides on the wet grass he gets his whole hand see how wide he spread his fingers out so he can get the ball he’s got a circle change there and then he changes the grip now Red Sox have a base runner Valdez is on Red Sox a long fly away from tying this ball game in the eighth inning and a little trickler out front of the plate here’s the throw down to second off the glove and everybody safe the Yankees fail to get the out Wells come up gunning down a second and they fail to make the play this is where you have to make it hurt this is where you make them pay this is where bad teams lose baseball games that’s a really casual play by the absolutely so Cabrera with an error we’re going to get a pinch hitter Willer abrau who’s going to pinch hit for ref Snider Bieber sets throws the second he throws it into center field and the Red Sox going run as it second and third as Grom fires it back to the infield the center fielder oh he air mail that throw and the Yankees continue to make mistakes the Yankees make their second error of the inning and the Red Sox have r ERS at second and third representing the tying runs in the eighth inning swing and a miss big strike out big change up two away Weaver get out of trouble second and third two out Yankees a two-run lead of the eight wings and grounds it to third lameu there gobbles it up throws to First In Time Luke Weaver pumps the fist second and third one out nothing for the Red Sox Dream Weaver hes looking to lock it down so the Red Sox do get the tying run of the plate m a strike out and a pair of fly outs to Center one of those took Grisham to the warning track he is due to hit one over the fence socks try to stay alive in the ninth swinging a high fly ball right field it’s deep that’s carrying out of here it is gone the socks TI it in the ninth Yoshida was due and he does it in the Bronx it’s 33 the Red Sox were a strike away from getting beat here tonight and Yoshida launches a shot in New York to tie it 33 this is the 2024 Red Sox right here you just can’t count him out to that last out his first home run since April 20 33 in the night in a 3-3 game bottom nine Ben rice will bat to nobody on shatters his Bat he pops it up raphaela to the Outfield he’s got it side retired and Slayton mows him down and we are going to Extra Innings tied 33 in New York as we begin the 10th inning the Red Sox have the fast man on the club at second Hamilton as the ghost Runner and here’s rafhaela High Fly ball center field grisham’s racing back still backing up all the way to the wall they can’t get it and that ball gets out of here that’s a home run that’s a two-run shot the red sock strike again and take a 53 lead my goodness just over the center field fence and the Bronx goodness gracious s on rafhaela touching the ball for the tth time and a two-run homer and the Red Sox open it up by three this place is in a State of Shock now rice off third Soo at first nobody out Yanks Trail 5-3 in the 10 here’s judge with a chance to be the hero swinging a high fly Ball but not deep down the line O’Neal closing on it rafy’s there and he’s got it in foul territory and a runner holds at third that’s a massive out right there here’s Verdugo against his former team that traded him to the end yies and he’ll pop it up and a play for Smith on the grass he has got it and two down so judge and Verdugo both ansy jump early and make it out now the Yankees are down to their final out with the tying runs on base the Red Sox trailed all night long and were on the verge of defeat when they were saved by a home run from masi Yoshida kenley’s trying to pin it down ground ball to first and that’s going to do it Smith with the out the Red Sox win it the win of the year for the Boston Red Sox coming from behind to shock the Yankees in the Bronx
