SIGN OR TRADE? LEON DRAISAITL’S AGENT SPEAKS… Edmonton Oilers News

[Music] well what do we have here an update in regards to the Edmonton Oilers and some very interesting comments made by Leon dyle’s agent now as we are all familiar with Leon dry cdle is one of the best hockey players in the world and his contract is expiring a year from now he is eligible to sign an extension with the Oilers one that may see him making upwards of 14 or maybe even $15 million a year but that contract until then has not been signed yet so speculation has been running rampant as to what the situation is whether or not dry Sidle is going to stay whether or not the Oilers are going to be able to resign him if they can’t resign him should they trade him etc etc there’s a lot of discussion you could go out there and have pretty much everything we’ve been talking about with Sydney Crosby you could also apply to dry cidal and we have slowly made our videos about Lyon and the potential of him going to teams like Boston and there was an entire rumor about San Jose however let’s go out there and read the latest as to what his agent goes out there and talks about so let’s go out there and refer to this article on icehockey news.de now this is a German website and ice hockey is of course German spelling of ice hockey and if you have the article in front of you you will see this which is in German it was published on July 1st and I do not read German so we’re going to go out there and translate this all the Trump cards are in hand the question about Leon Dr Al’s future his agent Yuri poner makes it clear let’s go out there and read what he has to say about the Oilers and dry cidal former de player yri poner from the Spectrum hockey agency is responsible for dry sadles contracts together with Le from octagon hockey when it comes to the question of the future the 60-year-old is very clear we have our ideas he said in an interview with ice hockey news but the ball is in Edmonton’s Court there is no rush yet but either it happens quickly like by the end of August or it doesn’t work out at all it’ll also become clear whether Edmonton really wants him or not Leon holds all the Trump cards dry signed his now soon to expire 8-year contract on August 16 2017 under then GM Peter Shelli I can still remember the crap storm that Peter Shelli had to endure when he gave Leon the 8.5 million aav contract today he would be celebrated for that deal in his opinion dry settle has been playing at least 30% below his value for 3 years but that’s not a complaint poner also has an opinion on the rumors that have been circulating in the North American Media for several weeks about an early trade there will always be rumors until Leon signs there are two two important points firstly what would a club be willing to give up for a short-term deal leyon would then be a free agent again and the club would lose far too much secondly what would Conor McDavid do a year later when his contract expires and Edmonton has already given up his best friend poner says he is very confident that there will be an agreement with Edmonton in the end that both sides will be happy with so I don’t know if it’s common protocol to see the agent go out there and speak about it in the newspaper saying hey this guy will probably sign like he’ll probably get the deal done it’s just a matter of when and what number satisfies both sides obviously it’s more optimistic for Oilers fans who want to see Leon dry Sidle return but with all of the speculation on North American Media things are kind of falling into a different category here well it is true that the agent of dry sadle said that it’s probably likely that the contract gets done he also did say that it’s very dependent on what the Oilers want to do with this in mind we’ve had a few other articles and things popping up here this is what dry saddle himself said on his contract situation after the Stanley Cup finals it’s going to take a little time to figure out what I want what the Oilers want and what everyone else wants and then we’ll go from there there also was an article published on the hockey news asking whether or not the Oilers should trade dry cidal if extension talks fall flat and it’s interesting because that’s actually a pretty similar idea as to what dry Saddles a agent talked about as well how the Oilers probably have an idea of what they want dryad to come in at so they should just give him the offer and then they’ll think about it if not there could be some sort of inkling that hey maybe the Oilers don’t really want him back and then they could trade him this is also talked about on the hockey news by Jim Parsons let’s go out there and read this article over here dry CLE currently on his 8.5 million doll deal is expected to command a substantial increase potentially in the range of 13.5 to 14.5 per year the money probably isn’t the issue since both sides know roughly what he is worth the real question becomes though what dry saddle thinks the chances are for Edmonton to go back to the Stanley Cup Final and win is the team good enough is another team as likely to win and can potentially offer other features Edmonton fans and media aren’t considering then there’s the Conor McDavid issue with McDavid having an extra year in his contract a Duo’s desire to stay together in Edmonton will be a significant factor in dry setta’s decision maybe Leon wants to wait and see what the market has to offer in a year perhaps still know better what McDavid intends to do as he Fields offers from other teams it would be hard to blame him for having all the facts and entertaining ideas the Oilers must consider their options carefully on one hand waiting for dry to decide gives them arguably their best chance to win again next season keeping this roster as close to whole as possible likely means Edmonton being a Stanley Cup favorite it may also send a message to McDavid that the organization is willing to make next season a priority and give him the best chance to win a cup the article also goes over and says this though the situation with dry cdal Mir is that of Matthew kachuck from two years ago the Flames thought they were doing well by trading kachuck at weager for hubero they immediately signed both to long-term extensions and the trade and signings proved to be a huge mistake two years later the Flames are rebuilding and the Panthers are Stanley Cup champions any potential trade involving dry saddle would need to bring in promising or established players who are guaranteed to be contributors for the seasons to come and while the Oilers are in win now mode the odds of that happening are low maybe holding on to the player regardless of the outcome is the right play so these SE are all just different varying perspectives on the dry sadle situation and what options are there but with the agent speaking out saying that it’s all up to the Oilers at this point I do kind of feel more optimistic that he does come back than not of course so we had seen some of the other guys have different outcomes I mean Evan buard I think the update was that he’s not going to have any contract negotiations until the end of next season which is a big gamble of course like if buard goes out there and continues is absolutely Stellar like two point per game production like he had in the playoffs in the regular season of course I’m not saying he’s going to get 160 points but if he goes out there and gets a 100 Point Season which I don’t think is like too unrealistically impossible then he could be sending himself up for 11 12ish million dollar a year next season if he had signed right now he could get 10 but that of course is the risk that comes with betting on yourself in today’s modern NHL landscape so for dry Sidle it seems like the Oilers would be a lot more willing to commit earlier to him than buard more so because they already know what dry cdle is it’s not like he’s got any more surprises up his sleeve he’s always going to be that 50 goal 110 120 point guy and even if he’s not he’s still that caliber of a guy regardless so of course it all depends here on what the Oilers do but if they’re not able to get dry saddle nor Evan Bard back next season or not next season but the season after next season then it could spell some pretty big Doom and Gloom for the rest of the lineup and potentially the Conor McDavid resigning situation as well we’ll still make videos in the offseason about the ideas of dry sadle going to these other teams because of course Boston is always going to be a destination we had talked about San Jose in a few commentaries before too but don’t worry we’re going to cover it all as it comes out as there are more conversations happening about dry sadle and his future we’ll certainly be making more videos but for now let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about Leon dradle his future his agent going out there and making some interesting comments and what you feel about this situation I hope you enjoyed this v99 and bye [Music] [Music]

  1. It’s amazing how many don’t seem to understand how a salary cap works. There is a set limit. You can not ice a team that goes over this cap. Only players on LTIR do not count towards the cap. Oilers are over the cap right now. They do not have the double digit multi million dollar cap needed to sign Leon this year OR NEXT. Next year they have to sign Bouchard along with Drai. Unless they get rid of Nurse we are losing Drai. End of story.

  2. Idk why people are acting like him not being signed is a big deal. In what world would he sign now when him and Mcdavid can make that choice together next summer? His ask would more than likely be lower if he knows 100% Mcdavid is also staying

  3. They should trade him. Not much you can build around when you ha e the 2 most expensive players in the game. Trade him to red wings please 🙂

  4. Well Vancouver certainly isn't getting Draisaitl or McDavid – they are both whiny complainers that are overrated according the 'nuck fans. So don't worry Cakuncleheads – you won't be getting either one cause they suck. We'll keep them here thank you very much

  5. I’ll tell you this for free, under no circumstances are the Oilers trading Leon Draisaitl. Either he resigns or plays out his contract, that’s it.
