Jays making MOVES… – This is HUGE for the Blue Jays | Toronto Blue Jays News

the Toronto Blue Jays are making moves and they’ve made one very interesting roster move that could pay big dividends going forward so to break that down in this episode as well as discuss how Tim Ma’s time in Toronto has officially come to an end as he has cleared waiver so to break that down as well as discuss yiel Rodriguez he has been huge for the Blue Jays and this is not only going to pay soon he is currently in Seattle watching the Jays play that series the Jays just won a very big game against the Mariners four obviously they’ve been struggling heavy but to get a win today on the back of Y Rodriguez was very very important but let’s dive right into the first topic of the day which is the Jays making moves and like I mentioned the Jays did get a big win today but prior to today’s game they made a few roster moves and we have a lot to discuss because one move I want to highlight could pay very big dividends for the team going forward and you can see here roster moves just Turner was reinstated from the opportunity list congratulations to him on his child but Edison Burger was optioned down and additionally which we’ll get into in a second Tim Mesa cleared waivers and is now a free agent but I want to focus on Addison Berger here he was optioned a triple A and obviously Burger has been struggling a good bit below a 200 average he’s really been struggling over the last several weeks and hasn’t been able to really reach that contact skill that he showed in the minor leagues at the major league level but the interesting thing here interesting thing here is sorry that they’re picking to option down Addison Burger instead of Stuart broa now baroa is a guy that’s been up and down we saw him up a week ago or a couple weeks ago when Aris Martinez uh was suspended for peeds and then they sent him back down they called him up they sent him down but they decided to keep him and his speed and his Outfield defense as opposed to Addison Burger who in theory has a much better hit tool and hit skill than Stuart baroa but the interesting thing here is I think that Addison Berger is getting sent down and we can kind of inference here um you know kind of just ER that this is probably the case they want to get him more reps now he’s still playing he played the past few days for the Toronto Blue Jays getting three at bats three at bats one at bat three at bats but the thing is now he’s not able at this point to keep up with major league pitching at least over the past couple weeks he had a couple of really good stretches there where he’s getting one to two hits a game for about a week but since then he really hasn’t been able to sustain it at the major league level which is why his Ops in the four or 500s and really hasn’t been good at all this season and that’s the problem and I think this could pay big dividends though going forward because obviously the Jays are kind of transitioning into a youth movement here you’re getting up you’re calling up guys like Spencer Horwitz and Addison Berger they ultimately called up a RIS Martinez but he got suspended by getting Addison Barger back down in a AAA he can refine his craft a little bit and they know that Barger is most likely either going to be a big piece of the Toronto Blue Jays future or a big trade piece going forward and by keeping him up with the major leagues he is only lowering his trade value and that becomes a problem when you’re either trying to trade him or use him on the team and not only is it lowering his trade value he’s also not gaining much by being here and struggling this much he was struggling mightily and we’ve seen tons of prospects in the past come up struggle get sent back down and then come back up and do better and if you think about his first run with Toronto Blue Jays this season where he went over 17 and got like one hit and 20 at bats then they sent him down he came back up and he did a lot better but now as major league pitchers start to adjust to him he’s going to have to adjust back and the minor leagues is a place where he can hopefully get some of his confidence back get some of his footing under him because he is ultimately going to be a big part of this team going forward and I think that he is going to be crucial when it comes to the Toronto Blue Jay’s future so very interesting that they chose the DFA or not DFA sorry option him down instead of steuart broa who really hasn’t started started one game for the Toronto Blue Jays so far this season I guess it’s Leo Jimenez he’s also a guy got called up who could have got sent down H bobette’s back now too so there’s a lot of different ways they could have went about it but they want to get Barger more reps in Triple A and really just see what he can do at that level and hopefully he can continue to do what he did before he got sent down earlier on in the season and last year and he was raking in triaa and then get called back up here for the Blue Jays and really turn his season around and there’s still lots of months and lots of games left in this season so it’s going to be very interesting to see what they do there but as a side note as well Tim Mesa has officially cleared waivers no one claimed Tim Mesa off waivers we know they claimed Cavin bigio Tim Mesa was a staple in the Jay’s Bullpen put up a 1.65 is RA last year in 60 plus Innings and 60 plus games sorry like what a year he had last year and to go from that to being at a point to being at a point now sorry where he’s just not even being claimed by any team is very interesting but he is a free agent and his time in Toronto has officially officially come to an end Sor and it’s going to be interesting to see if he ends up on another team I don’t think that he’s going to struggle to find a job necessarily at some point his season this year six plus ER was really disastrous and it kind of lends Credence to the fact that he hasn’t been a good reliever this year and teams are really looking for good lefties so I think if Tim MAA can turn it around he’ll be very good in that front you see here the BL has option Burger down and Tim ha is now a free agent so very below now let’s move on to this is big and this is exciting to talk about here today as yio Rodriguez what a dominant outing for him we saw the last game he started he almost was on track he had a no hitter through five or six and then this game he had a no hitter through I think four and 2/3 or five innings I think four and two3 and wow what a game for the the Blue Jays but specifically yiel who went six Innings one hit six KS two walks and ever since coming back from his injury he had that one blip where his first outing back he gave up a bunch of runs and won in a third inning or whatever it was but he’s been dominant in the past two starts and yorio Rodriguez is a guy don’t forget everybody is under contract for a very very long time for the next two to three years this isn’t a player that they’re going to look to trade this isn’t a player they’re going to look to you know ship off by any means they’re going to look to build around this guy in the rotation and not only that he got up to 80 plus pitch is in this game which is the most we’ve seen him thrown a very long time and the most that he’s probably thrown as a Toronto Blue Jay someone can fact check me in the comments I think it’s the most today thrown as he’s thrown as a Toronto Blue J 80 plus pitches coming off of the injury he is looking very very good and if he can do that then obviously this season it’s probably going to be a wash when it comes to making the playoffs but that doesn’t mean that we can’t take positives out of it and yuriel Rodriguez is one of the biggest positives we can take out of this season uh it’s not over yet but going up to the trade deadline when they assuming presumably going to cell very good for them and look at the offense Vladimir ger junor got a couple hits his hand is obviously bothering him he is not 100% but to see him get a couple RBI and still hit the ball well is nice and then of course Alejandro Kirk and George Springer had great games Springer’s been on an absolute heater Kirk was great to see him get back in the board he got a bunch of RBI for the Jays the reason they won this game because ultimately Chad green and Trevor Richards specifically Trevor Richards gave up a few runs there that made it close but it’s going to be very interesting to see how that this team continues to perform and again this is one win I’m not getting my hopes up at all they’re still what are they nine or eight games below 500 now they’re still in a very rough spot but to see a win to see some positives take some positives from the team is something I’m going to have to do at this point because yiel has looked very good in back-to-back starts speaking about looking good I highly suggest you go watch this play DT Versa with the one of the best catches I’ve ever seen it’s like a runner fireman scoop catch doubled them off at second it was a game that was full of positivity and it it sucks that the Jays are doing so bad because it’s hard to get super excited watching this team play every day when you know that they’re really struggling they need to change things up they’re not in a playoff spot it’s hard to get super excited but what we can do is be happy with the things that are positive going into the future and we have Bel V show for a ton more years we have YZ for a ton more years so those are the most important things going forward even though it’s hard to think about some of these players that could be gone like y Kikuchi like maybe even Chad green as you see from Keegan Chad green could be one of the most interesting decisions that Jay’s face the deadline assuming they try to Pivot again for one more run there’s a case to keep them but it’ll be very trative name to a lot of contenders there will be interest which we’ll dive into in a future video but I don’t know there’s going to be a lot of different interest a lot of different trade proposals going around regarding Chad green regarding usus Kikuchi we heard buck and Dan speak about in the video to or on the live um broadcast today that there’s so many players specifically us Kikuchi that’s going to generate interest it’s going to be interesting to see what the Jays do and ultimately it’s going to be very very curious to see what their move end up being and what their moves end up being but that’ll wrap it up let us know in the comments section down below what your
