Eric Pohlkamp Meets With The Media After The San Jose Sharks Prospect Scrimmage
you’re locked on sharks your daily podcast on the San Jose Sharks part of the locked on podcast Network your team everyday big summer for you transition kind of putting your imprint on that that season kind kind of bringing what you took from there what’s your difference from last to your perform yeah I think you’re just so much more comfortable with everything um like your first year those a lot of nerves you don’t really know where stuff is or where’s that or’s that so um I think the second Camp is you know some players you get to know the college guys a little more and um you feel a lot more comfortable here you know where the bathroom is you know where the locker room is you know where stuff like that is so um probably yeah just a little more familiar around here pretty amazing comeback obviously you got the game time goal Place went pretty pretty nuts was it cool to kind of get a glimpse what it might like to play here in San Jose just that that sort of excitement yeah I think last year was a pretty good crowd but this year was I think way better and um that was nice my sister was here and then she kind of runs her own business here so think she brought like 15 of her employees here and they’ve never been to a hockey game so they had no idea what was going on so um I’m I’m sure they enjoyed this one as a high-scoring game and um obviously get to see guys like that play and um so I’m sure they enjoyed it so it was fun obviously the excitement is building mlin and will and musty yourself just the growth the return of San Jose such a team that made the playf so often you mentioned that excitement do you feel like this is a group that can kind of bring the Sharks back to where they maybe not necess were but a new era kind of what that was yeah I mean you just see the talent that’s on the I there it made my job so easy I just give the to them and they do their work so um yeah it’s gonna take a couple years but um you see the skill they have and see the talent um so I’m sure they’ll come here so Eric that decision to transfer to did you speak with mag about that uh no he actually he just talking to from the other day um our strength coach uh Matt sha he’s giving me crap about him and how tough his workouts are so um no he absolutely loved it he said nothing but good things so I was just out there for a couple weeks and I can’t wait to get back out there in mid August so looking forward to it was part of the reason going to the coaching obviously you went to the World Juniors was that what went up behind yeah absolutely I think David Carl is one of the best college college coaches out there um he Pro I mean he’s proven it so he’s got two national championships now um so I’m going to try to win win there with them and um um no I can’t wait I think he’s the best coach in college hockey absolutely what’s the thing take them most away from Dev like this I think the connections you make um just getting to know these guys um you eat with them you do everything with them um and then down the road obviously the coaches give you some tips and tricks um keeping your head up more or whatever it is but I think definitely the connections you build here so even just a couple days as it is the bonding is is time yeah I think every hockey player knows someone like through hockey like through five different guys if you knew um this player oh you played with him and then blah you start talking about him and then you get to talk about him so um I think everyone yeah the hockey world’s so small so everyone kind of knows everyone I asked Quon this fun thing you guys did the cooking challenge yesterday I asked who was the guy that you mostly wanted your roommates with based on cooking ability so who what’s your answer on that I think pulie was he was in my group and he was cutting an onion and I was like I don’t know man you shouldn’t be cutting that he was over here diing right up so um no he was it was pretty impressive with him so um definit might be finish Quinton said yeah could be I don’t know yeah absolutely what’s what’s the next step you want to take your development you look at as a situation where you’d like to next yeah I mean definitely going back to Denver this next year and honestly after that it’s kind of all for grabs I’ll see where I as a player um if I’m ready to make the jump I’ll I’ll make the jump but um once you go pro um it’s kind of scary um but College hockey is a lot of fun uh it’s really a lot of fun so um but I’m sure after next year definitely I’ll think about it a little more but not definitely not this year what’s the one thing you want to work on the most I think uh defending I think every an defenseman you see them now defending uh everyone has their Quinn Hugh as a defenseman they have their skill gu so um if you could play play a two-way game um that’s that’s the best option I can ask sorry me real quick um just I know he’s here and you kind of help his tires in front of him but you saw the crowd today it’s a little bit different than your standard death camp what do you think of just m just being around him spending time around him whatsoever and just you see the impact that he’s kind of already had on yeah I mean if you’re a top five draft pick you’re obviously a very high profiled person and a player um everything’s a business um I mean everything’s pretty much down the line um you we gotta be a pro these guys are already Pros um so I mean just the way he handles himself what he eats um just everything that kind of goes into it um but I mean those all those guys are very high profile players like I said and um they know where they’re at and their development so even in a scrimmage when you have thate comeback how what goes through your head when you score that I mean yeah it’s fun I mean to get that comeback you obviously want to win in this and um no to be honest I pretty much just closed my eyes and shot that puck so lucky enough it went in but um know that was a lot of fun those last couple minutes and we luckily enough we came back and um notice see the smile on those guys’ face in the Huddle uh after that goal was it was super fun so um no the crowd was awesome today and um I’m sure my sister and her employees enjoyed it so not sure if they knew what they’re cheering for or not thank you [Music]
