Edmonton Oilers Trade News | Evander Kane | Cody Ceci | Brett Kulak

welcome back everyone my name is Patrick you’re watching the Oilers rundown in today’s video I want to talk about Evander Kane Brett kulak Cody CeCe the latest rumors surrounding them of Vander Kane’s future is he being traded is he going in ltir what’s happening with Kane in today’s video we’re going to go over all the latest so basically I didn’t get to go over much of what happened last week with him but the reports from Jeff Jackson Bob staer Jason Gregor basically all revolved around the fact that Evander Kee was dealing with the sports hernia as we know and may or may not require hip surgery later this summer the surgery if it did happen would potentially happen in late August putting Keane on ltir to start the year but apparently the surgery isn’t a must and the two mons podcast had this report late yesterday that gives us the latest on a Vander Kee based on reports we’ve gotten over the last 48 hours Edmonton Oilers forward a Vander Kee should be fully recovered and healthy by September when training camp opens up Kee has been able to do some activities he’s been golfing with his friends living life as he should be he’s also built a new home in Edmonton and the community has treated him very well as he’s also treated the community well in return it’s been a great fit for both sides he wants to be a part of this winning culture he’s been adding to to it since he got to Edmonton Kane’s health is the most serious thing here it sounds like it’s been getting better for Kane which is a huge positive with Kane and the Oilers lineup they look like they can’t be matched by any other team in the NHL this is all great news for Evander Kane healthwise but it does create problems for the Evanson Oilers if Evander Keane will not be on ltir or not traded going back to the draft there is lots of rumors surrounding Evander Kane and that he was potentially going to be asked to move as no trade clause but apparently no official request was ever made Insider Dave pegoda of the fourth period reported on hello hockey yesterday on Emon Sports Talk that the Oilers would like to move of Vander Kee but given Kane’s Health uncertainty he doesn’t see anyone willing to take him on as two Ms noted in their report a Vander Kane is building a new home in Edmonton the Oilers are winning he doesn’t want to go anywhere and why would he if Kane can get back to 100% healthwise the Oilers are a better team with him on the roster there’s no doubt of that so how can they do that and still be Capt compliant David pagota also reported yesterday that the ERS are looking for a number four or number five D Man and that Cody Cece and Brett kulak’s names are both in play to try and figure this all out I threw this roster together on cap friendly with this roster the Oilers are only 954 th000 away from being cap compliant and that’s with all of Kane CC and kulac on the roster I estimated Dylan Holloway and Philip brober both signing one-year deals at 1.25 million each it should be somewhere close to that for both of them so it’s doable if one of kolac or CC are moved and replaced with someone roughly $1 million cheaper the oiler should be able to run at least a 21-man roster so you can certainly see why the avander Kee rumors are out there the Oilers are very tight cap wise with the new additions Jeff Skinner and Victor arvitson there doesn’t seem to be a clear roster spot for a Vander Kee but as I said if you can have a Vander Kean in your lineup the Oilers are definitely better if they can find a way to keep him I’d certainly be happy with that but they do have to make other moves to get cap compliant if a Vander Kane is sticking around one of Brett kulak or Cody CCE will definitely have to go possibly even both it would be my preference to keep Brett kulak but we’ll see what happens here if Jeff Jackson is looking for another number four or number five dman definitely one of those guys has to go to make room for him obviously it wouldn’t be someone with a very high cap hit the Oilers struggling to make this all work as it is but we’ll see what happens here Jeff Jackson has been on an absolute tear this summer I’m excited to see what he has in store next for the Evon Oilers he clearly isn’t done so I think the general manager position being filled will be the next move here for the Edmonton Oilers but who knows Jeff Jackson may have one more trick up his sleeve before he hands off the Reigns but a Vander Kee Brett kulak Cody C will remain in the rumor mill here for the next little while until it’s all figured out let me know your thoughts on Kane kolak and CC who stays who goes what do you guys think let me know your thoughts in the comments section below if this is your first visit to the channel and you like what you see please consider liking and subscribing for all the latest Oilers content you’ve been watching the Oilers fanatic thanks for being a fan [Music]

  1. The Oilers lost the cup because they were missing Kane. He would have added the physical play and a few goals, especially neutralizing Chucky. Cap-wise the Oilers don't have an issue if they move Cody Ceci. Ceci can be moved, although the Oilers have to include a mid-round draft pick with him. Holloway and Broberg are $1 million per each on bridge deals. The Oilers aren't moving Kudlak. They picked up two right-side D to replace Ceci and Desharnais. The biggest issue is where to place Kane on the roster. He's too good to play on the fourth line. I'd suggest he plays with Henrique, and Holloway on the right side. The fourth line would be Janmark, Brown, and Ryan unless they bring in a right-shot center with size. I can see Ryan being the 14th forward. Perry the 13th.

  2. Kane would have been a impact if he was healthy in a Stanley Cup final that came down to a one goal difference. They need Kane and the type of sand paper game he brings.

  3. I think the oilers would have made it if they hadn't gotten rid of Kostin and what made it worse ir Detruit traded him for nothing at trade deadline,,Holland spent his time here making us a bigger team. Jackson keeps making us smaller. It will haunt us in playoffs

  4. If they can trade Ceci for cap space to sign Holloway and Broberg, why would you not keep Kane. He could play on literally any line considering the teams depth going into the season. I mean if our 3rd line is Janmark Henrique Brown, and our 4th is Kane Holloway and Perry, or maybe Kane takes Nuges spot, they’ve got a good roster.

  5. I don’t understand why Kane’s name was even brought up for a trade. His numbers have been great, he’s coming off a 24 goal season. I would give him as much time as he needs to heal even if that means starting him on LTIR at the beginning of next season. As for Holloway and Broberg, they are both RFA’s, I’m not sure about Holloway, but I believe that Broberg can’t go to arbitration, so are they really going to get more than they were qualified for? As much as I would love to bring a true top 4 RD, the defensive group was really good last year after Coffey took over and are you really going to find an upgrade on Ceci that costs as the same or less than him? I hate to say it but it looks like Kulak would be the odd man out if Broberg is going to play on the main roster all season. Honestly I like the team now, the only change would be another top 4 RD for Ceci if they can make it work.

  6. Excellent video as always thanks for the update Patrick! Love Kaner and would love to see him stay and get 100% Healthy! Agree the team is better with him on it. Would only want to lose one of those guys if possible somehow Jeff Jackson work your magic some more please lol Would have been sweet to meet ya and Tyson at Game 6 quickly at the Molson house bar or whatever its called. Damn terrible setup prevented that from happening. Next June 2025 🙂

  7. I am really concerned about the Oilers' cap situation. They need to resign Holloway and Broberg who are currently RFAs. At this point we want to keep all 5, but the NHL won't allow it. So as far as I'm concerned, we need to let at least some of them go.. If we keep Kane, like it sounds like they want to do (I think they may not be able to as he is a $5.125M cap hit), we seem to be in between a rock and a hard place. If we trade both Ceci and Kulak we either hurt our defense as we won't be able to trade for as good a player as that will be a large cap hit, and we can't keep them as we need to be cap compliant. Overall, I am very concerned about our defense this year. We let a lot too many teams into our defensive zone in the playoffs, and that really hurt us. We were saved by our strong forward lines. I fear that will only be more true next year as Jeff has gone all out to bolster our offense at the expense of defense. That is very exciting, but a Stanley cup team needs a good offense and defense to win. At this point, we may have to let Broberg and/or Holloway take an offer sheet from another team to make sure we are cap compliant.

  8. I agree with others. Kane has a unique skill set and we should be looking to keep him, especially if we can get him healthy and have him start the year on LTIR.

Ceci is the guy we can and need to move out. Ceci at 3.25m on the bottom pairing makes no sense.

  9. It’s not even close. Keep Kulak and ship Cici out. He should have been gone last year when they were shopping him around. He has zero trade value that is why we still have him.

  10. If Kane is 100% the most logical person to move to the 3rd line would be Nuge to be it's center where the Janmark/Henrique/Brown line becomes the 4th line. Nuge would get Holloway and "one other player" who would have to be a play driver (not sure if Holloway can do that to the extent needed and Nuge doesn't do that, he's utility and a facilitator, not a driver). Arvidsson plays right wing normally as does Hyman so if Connor or Leon gets Kane on the Left Skinner would go to the other person. Gives both lines a grinder (Hyman and Arvidsson) and both lines a shooter (Kane/Skinner) with two great centers (Connor/Leon). Nuge with Holloway on his left would need a play driving RW. While Levoie is a RW is he a play driver? Eventually our new addition Matt Savoie would probably slot in here quite well but he has one NHL and 6 AHL games on his resume and has played mostly in the W so he needs some experience first (don't throw another prospect to the wolves PLEASE). Just a few thoughts. Oh, paying for it, if you move Ryan/Perry you free up $2,015,000. With what we're low on that pays for both Broberg and Holloway (if $830K to each is enough) but we'd still need that RW for Nuge.

If you trade Ceci (no chance for Kulak, he's GOLD come playoffs and a local boy and cheaper by 500K (and leftie)) you have to replace Ceci with a better RD. Better and cheaper rarely mix. While some may say no problem easy you're wrong. He does a lot (and yes, he messes up too but some of that is covering for Nurse).

    Take care all.

  11. The only issue I have with Kane, is all the baggage he still carries with him. He's too streaky, and you still hear mumurs of locker room distruption, and his attitude on occasion.

If he would just show up to the rink, play hockey to the best of his abilities, and not cause any issues at all, I would be happy to keep his cap, and move someone else. Right now though, if they traded him out? I wouldn't miss him too much at this point.

I just don't have much faith in Kane keeping it together, long-term. 🤷‍♂

  12. I think kane should stay .
    Hes tough and resilient.
    Scores when he has to.
    Acurate.
Maybe expensive but is one reason we got where we did.
    In my humble opinion.

  13. Too bad Conner and Leon wouldn’t accept lower $$. If they would that would free up a lot of $$ for the other players. Both of them make enough in endorsements so they shouldn’t be so greedy. If they were team players and not only looking out to see who makes the most money the Oilers could be champions for many consecutive years.

  14. The only problem that it's been giving is to you guys. The fan base want him kept. Sure, you're gonna find some that don't. Maybe they're from the outside that want to spoil the thing that we have here?

  15. I love kulak, ceci trade for a pick, use that money to resign kulak and broberg to 1.25 1 yr deals, trade nurse for a high draft pick and an ltir player (keep him there) use the cap space to resign touch n drai.

  16. Why wasn't Kane put on LTIR in January when it was obvious to anyone looking that something was wrong?

Could have pulled a Vegas and brought back Eberle for the playoff run and had a 100% Kane.

  17. Having a healthy Kane would put pressure on Skinner to play well. I think have Kane in the Top 6 is still a great fit if he is Healthy. Trading Ceci and Kulak would be the way to go and you can start with Bouchard, Eckholm, Nurse and Brown Broberg and Stetcher. You will have cap space to look a top 4 defenseman.
