subscribe today 100% free content so let’s talk about Matt judon as a player I mean this is a guy who I I don’t know how but kind of underrated as a sack artist 15 and 1 half sacks in 2022 he had four sacks in 2023 in a shortened campaign due to injury and in those four games he had a sack per game so dare I say he could have been on Pace to have a 17 sack season I mean in 2022 it’s 15 and A2 2021 12 and a half 2020 six sacks I mean this is incredible production and he’s been doing it for a long time all the way dating back to when he’s with the Baltimore Ravens now I do think that the defensive line group is a solid unit and I really really like Carl Granderson I’m very excited about the chase young signing but I do believe because of the Tano pasho injury and because we don’t know what’s going on with Payton Turner we don’t I mean not we don’t we know camon join is a great football player but father time is starting to catch up with him maybe I don’t want to say he’s washed cuz I don’t think he is but some people CLA like to think that Cameron Jordan is the player he used to be and the production would back that up but I still think that he has a very high motor now a trade could be incoming for Matthew judon because he is entering the final year of his contract with New England and he has been very vocal expressing that he wants to stay with the Patriots but here’s the caveat he also wants an extension and if you want an extension and you want to play for the that team but the team doesn’t want to pay you things kind of get a little tricky and then they’ve had 10 11 signings already in terms of extensions and resigning I mean they’ve been very active uh in Boston for the Patriots with spending money in bringing people back giving out extensions but Matthew judon has been the odd man out and recently he took the social media there’s been some cryptic tweets and all that fun stuff but this tweet has been kind of taking the taking the NFL rumors middle by storm this guy saying if the if the Patriots don’t give Matthew judon an extension this season we are you can read uh pay the man what he wants we want a solid defense and I do think the Patriots defense has been something that’s like their bread and butter they’ve had a good defense for as long as I could remember and sure maybe it’s not amazing but like that’s always something in my head when I think of the Patriots they have Don Brady and they always had a good defense but Matthew judah’s saying I don’t think that’s about to happen and then he puts this tweet out day before Fourth of July now here one thing about me guys I love me the Bob SpongeBob he’s my guy I I love that Gary Gary Come Home Jimmy Graham come home you know that’s my guy I love me some SpongeBob so when I saw this tweet I was like all right I’mma head out means maybe I’m heading out of New England I’m going to go get traded I want to be out of here they don’t want me I don’t want to be here no more so I want you to take a guess for me what’s going to happen with Matthew judon do you think that the Patriots are going to pay and extend him or do you think that they will end up trading him I want you to get down in the comments section I know that Saints fans some of the smartest in the world so share your thoughts if you know ball a trade idea that I cooked up for you New Orleans getting a very very good sack production player and Matthew judon however they do give up some decent Capital here and it’s not going to be a cheap trade if you do go after Matthew judon because he is arguably the best player on the Patriots roster definitely the best player on the defense so a first first round pick might be what it takes and then on top of that I tacked on a fifth could have been convinced of a sixth or a seventh but to be honest for a player of that caliber I can see New England having a tough time moving on from him so that might be something to consider so I went with the first and a fifth round pick but something that’s interesting here maybe you’re saying that’s a lot to give away look at that look at that now look at that again kind of right the check rights itself and look at that you could have Cameron Jordan who’s number three in sacks since through 2019 through 2022 Andrew could have Matthew judon who has half a sack less I mean that is amazing and that would be Stellar for this defense considering last year they were tied for 28th in sack production they need to get to the quarterback better they need better sack production and there’s no question about it the Saints have to attack the passer and if you can’t get to the passer you can’t make plays and sure they have a wonderful defensive back unit and I do believe that the defensive back group can keep the defense afloat for the most part but you cannot let the quarterbacks and mobile guys and you just W wipe you wipe the floor with you you can’t let them run all over you you can’t let them throw the ball all over you if you have plenty of time to throw the ball then who cares how well the coverage is they can just run around all quarter long while you’re trying to throw the Brock but I will say this in terms of maybe why to not trade for Matthew judon he is 31 years old he’s going to be 32 here soon and he’s coming off of a bicep injury that’s why he only played four games last season so that is something to consider it’s something to Monitor and I did some research on bicep injuries in the NFL and it’s typically about a year to return and it’s very very normal or a little under a year actually and it’s very normal for players to return to that quality uh production and to that level which is pretty interesting to note so obviously injuries are bad but you know in the grand scheme of things could have been a hell of a lot worse for Matthew judon so let’s go back to my trade idea and I want you to share your thoughts here now that I’ve kind of given my piece for some pros and some cons you’ve seen the production you’ve seen how he Stacks up in the NFL would you do this trade just give me a simple trade or a simple pass in the comment section I want you to put on your Mickey Lumis hats not your Mickey Mouse ears and share your thoughts in the comment section now I will say this if a trade does go down bringing Matthew judon to New Orleans somebody has to become the odd man out and to be quite Frank I don’t know who it’s going to be because these two guys right here are the top two St they’re the the two starters these two players right here will be your starting defensive ends I love Cam Jordan he is one of my favorite football players in the history of of the wonderful sport however you just signed Chase young to a $13 million contract he’s also on a one-year deal but you signed him to some pretty considerable money Carl Granderson as a udfa has developed and improved every single season and that was eight and a half sacks for Carl Granderson that led the team that 58 pressures that’s pretty solid Chase young 66 pressures and I like those numbers down there too because to me that means just a little bit more a little bit faster a little bit cleaner tackling maybe that can those pressures can turn into sacks I want to see pressures turn to production and I’ve said that multiple times here on the show and to be quite honest I am not benching Carl Granderson he led the team in sacks last year like I just said there is literally no reason in the in any situation in any scenario in any world for any team in any Universe you bench the player who just led the team in sacks I mean unless the T the player had three and that was leading it maybe but at the end of the day I’m not benching Carl Granderson I will say this though I do like competition because competition makes everyone better it makes the coaching staff better it makes the players better and it makes the production much more significant and why I’m bringing up competition well Chas Young’s only on a one-ear contract he’s only owed like $3.4 million the next couple of Seasons it’s you know two .4 2.5 2.6 it’s I mean it’s less than three4 million cits over the next few years so to me I’m thinking go trade for judon and maybe judon and Chase young can kind of battle out and you get to pick between the two of which one you keep and which one you let walk in free agency I I I just think that that’s something that the New Orleans Saints should consider I think that they should kick the tires and at least give the Patriots a call and see what the asking price would be so what say you Saints fans I know that the offensive line is a really really big for New Orleans but teams don’t trade offensive linemen because great offensive linemen are hard to come by so I need to ask you this question about the defensive line should New Orleans kick the tires on Matt judon just give me a yes or a no in the comment section y’all stay golden we’ll see you
