New York Rangers ARE IN A WILD SITUATION With Jacob Trouba!

the New York Rangers and Jacob trouba are in a very unfortunate and not great situation for either sides right now with the Rangers looking to kind of get rid of Jacob trouba it seems like to get off that $8 million contract for your player who at this point in his career right now is more of a bottom pairing defenseman he has shown that he can be a liability at moments throughout the playoffs there we saw that quite a bit in that Florida series especially and I think overall this is a player who may still be a fine NHL caliber defenseman for sure it’s not keys and a caliber guy should be someone looking to go over to Europe but this is a player who was not near an $8 million per season player back when this trade happened he was coming over here to be a top de pair caliber guy you know a Topline caliber defenseman he’s just proven to not be that so far for most of this contract since he’s been traded over here he has proven to not be that at all for a while there kind of looked like a good second pairing kind of guy but at this point in his career this past season in previous ones as well you could argue that he’s more of a bottom pairing kind of guy you know a fifth or six defensemen on this Rangers team and really throughout this playoff run kind of showed a lot of his kind of deficiencies and him being a liability at moments and just not playing it at all really costing this team at moments as well throughout this playoff run and at moments he was quite costly making some big mistakes especially in that final series there of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Florida Panthers there in game six he made that massive mistake there that really kind of cost this team quite a bit there so going forward I think the best thing for this Rangers team specifically and not talking about Jacob trouba or you know his family stuff as well and I get that I don’t want to get too much into that as well because by no means I’m I trying to hate on the person of of Jacob trouba here it seems like he’s probably a good guy out the ice there a good leader in the locker room but for this Rangers team the best thing for this squad right now I think is to obviously get off that $8 million contract or even possibly buy him out as well which is still a possibility there obviously this a guy who has two more years left right now with an $8 million cap and if Rangers were to buy him out the dead capit situation there is not too bad at all it is four years of kind of having some dead money there the first two years are 4 million each and then the next two years after that are 2 million each so 2024 2025 a $4 million dead cap at there with one more year after that as well and then a two years following that starting in 2026 2027 is 2 mil each so not too bad there at all it’s 4 mil 4 mil then two and then two so honestly that dead money is not too big of a deal you obviously save half his capit right now for the next two seon seasons and then have an extra 2 mil for the following two after that I don’t think that’s too bad at all you can definitely find a replacement for what Jacob trba brings with that $4 million you’d open up there yes obviously the situation right now with the frency being mostly over there’s a lot of guys who have already signed who would be nice kind of guys to fill that spot that kind of hurts the ranger situation a bit there but they go look out there via trade or even sign a guy still left in Fr so you can kind of feel what Jacob trouba kind of brings obviously the leadership the physicality the fighting the toughness the block shots all that stuff yes it’s going to be kind of hard to fill a bit but you can still find a good you know third pairing caliber defenseman in for agency he’s not going to cost iton there save you a bit more money but also be able to bring a more kind of stable and more reliable defensive defenseman there who probably still plays a physical game who’s probably a guy with some experience in the playoffs has that size that grid that toughness but can be a bit better of a defensive defenseman and a more reliable guy than someone like Jacob tra may not bring that leadership and kind of off fight stuff that maybe a got Troopa does but I think that could be worth it for this team going forward as well we know eigor is going to need new contract for next season as well in 2025 2026 and same thing with a guy like Alexi laer they’re going to need some big kind of money there fairly big raises there obviously so have an extra four milon cap space for the next season you know in 2025 2026 would not be a bad idea at all for this Rangers team and I do understand that Jacob trouba had a pretty serious injury from what it seems like there as Molly Walker reported you know nyr Captain Jacob trouba said the injury he sustained earlier in this season was a broken ankle quot a big chunk of his ankle came off there so that was affecting him throughout the playoff run it seems like but this is a player who has not you know just been bad throughout this playoff r or throughout this season in the past as well the past Seasons he has played like a bottom pairing kind of guy or been a liability at moments and not play great this not the first time that he has not been great so I don’t think that is a full excuse on kind of why Jacob tra did not perform throughout this playoff and was a liability at moments which he definitely was he was not great for a decent amount or most of this playoff front you could definitely argue he had his moments when he looked decent but for the most part there he was not great and looked like a true kind of botom pairing kind of guy and a liability of moments which for a team trying to win the Stanley Cup having an 8 million kind of liability out there at moments is just not going to cut it yes he’s a good leader it seems like and may bring that physical presence there but as we saw in the clip I should earlier in game six there against Florida that cost the Rangers there with him trying to be that physical guy there going for the hit going to into absolute kind of No Man’s Land There missing the guy completely there he comes down off they score and that was a big big goal in this entire playoff from the series there and a big reason of why this Rangers team ended up losing that game as well so I think this is a guy here who yes seems like a good guy seems like a good leader there for this team he’s the captain of this Rangers Squad but right now I think what’s best for this Rangers team specifically is to get off this contract find a replacement and move on from Jacob tro because it was not a good contract that was given out to him and it definitely was not a great trade for this team either and right now as things stand a trade doesn’t seem like it’s necessarily a very likely scenario I think it’s still a possibility but it doesn’t seem like it’s too likely with Jacob trouba kind of wanting to stay around his wife there who’s working at a New York Hospital I believe for one more year with a residency I think it is so it’s kind of a rough situation for both sides there Jacob troa and his family as well as New York Rangers who I would guess we want to get off this $8 million contract it seems like there was possibly a move to happen there to Detroit that kind of fell through there with his 15o trade list so things aren’t looking great for this trade situation here it’s not ideal for the Rangers or Jacob trouba because I’m sure he doesn’t want to be in a place that he’s not you know too wanted and obviously he’s still the captain and I’m sure the Rangers maybe want him to have him there but with an $8 million cap at there it kind of makes things a little more tricky and stuff like that so it’s not a great situation there for the Rangers or Jacob trouba hopefully the situation does get solved though and the Rangers can obviously move on from Jacob trouba and that $8 million contract like I said I’m not trying to hate on trouba there seems like a good guy and all that but the 8 million contract is limiting what this Ranger team can do in a window where they’re trying to win in the next couple years a guy like panan is not getting younger same thing with krider it’s Advantage at even Ro even eigor as well I mean eigor is going to get a fat contract next season in 2025 2026 same thing with LA frer there obviously he’s young but he’s going to get a big contract there he going to limit the cap space and kind of resources available to this Rangers team to go out there and acquire some more talent to make this team whole lot better and make this team a true cup Contender so this upcoming season is a massive one to really kind of try and win that Stanley Cup there and with this $8 million capit of a possible kind of liability guy at moments it’s definitely not an ideal situation for this Rangers team and if the Rangers do look to go towards that idea of kind of buying Jacob trouba out he would go on waivers there as well which a team could possibly end up just claiming him off waivers there but if a guy like Jacob trba doesn’t want to kind of show up to another team there which is a possibility I mean maybe he doesn’t want to go to maybe it is you know San Jose or Anaheim one of these teams who have a lot of cap space but are obviously nowhere near New York there that’s not a good situation for a guy like trouba there who wants to stay near his wife I’m sure you know in New York where she doing residency at a hospital so it’s an interesting situation there that this Rangers team is in right now it’s not a great one for either side like I said tro or the ranges it’s not an ideal situation there but hope they can get things solved there and make this team a whole lot better so we can truly compete for a Stanley Cup in 2024 2025 this season is a big one there before these big contracts come in and this team needs to get upgraded and need to make some moves here to make this team a whole lot better than what it was this past season anyways though thank you so much for watching if you are a Rangers Fan this is The Rangers Captain has not played great throughout his time with the team since being traded to New York and it may be best for the team to move the player off the team whether it is a trade or buyout.
