[Music] who would have known who would have known let’s set the scene right here we’re in the week heading into the 2024 NHL draft the Detroit Red Wings have the 15th overall pick and one of the biggest questions that is plaguing the fan base at this time is whether or not Patrick Kane will resign oh does he stay in Detroit does come back after having a really strong point production season in 23 24 what do the wings do with their rfas they’ve got to resign cider they’ve got to resign Raymond how much money do those guys make and the question as to whether or not they’d even be able to go out there and get other free agents was looming around there too Steven Stamkos Martin AIS who’s going to find themselves in mtown what if I told you heading into the 2024 NHL draft that by this time next week the Red Wings would have signed Patrick Kane and the Red Wings also would have signed Vladimir tereno the contracts would be pretty good the dollar amounts not too bad and everybody in Detroit would be unanimously celebrating these moves if you had told the Red Wings fan that like a week or two before the draft happened everybody would have been losing their minds but in this video what we’re doing is we’re talking about these two veterans Kane and ter enko and going over how one actually influenced the other to signing in Detroit now full disclaimer this is like one part of the conversation that we could have about both of these two guys they did have the press conferences available to the public yesterday and that was all fine and dandy lots of good quotes lots of Juicy comments made by both of these players but we’re focusing on the particular angle of Patrick Kane recruiting teraso into mtown in this video because a lot of the quotes were published on this article on Detroit hockey now by Bob Duff Patrick Kane selling nhlers on the value of the Red Wings I’ll leave a link in the description if you want to go ahead and read this it’s a very good piece made by Bob Duff included in this article is a video clip posted by Rachel hoper on Twitter she says here that Patrick Kane may be the best Redwing salesman there is telling teras senko about Metro Detroit the quotes from Kane are in this article Patrick Kane says that Vladimir terasen CO’s wife reached out to Amanda Kane’s partner and said that Detroit seemed interested so obviously you get excited about that and then Steve iserman called me as well just asking about tereno as a player I think he’s going to be so good for this group Kane said Patrick Kane’s sales pitch to teraso was so vivid in detail perhaps the Detroit Chamber of Commerce should be giving Kane a call now of course you may be thinking all right well I mean Chicago was Kane’s home for so long St Louis was teras Seno’s home for so long where’s the connection here what business does tereno have with Patrick Kane to be able to talk about free agent destinations well they were Rangers at the same time that was the entire link from last season that carried over into some sort of a discussion in this season and now when you think about it teraso and Kane go from New York to separate teams Patrick Kane finds a new home in Detroit teraso goes to Ottawa and then finds himself in Florida winning a gosh star and Stanley Cup and then they reunite in mtown on yet another their original six team Kane says here we just kind of relayed the message that Detroit was similar to New York in a way kind of like Greenwich Connecticut area I think the suburbs in Detroit are unbelievable I lived there when I was 14 playing hockey but when I came back I didn’t realize how nice they were what a great spot it is to live in raise a family you have a lot of options whether it’s playing hockey or the schools at your disposal and I like how Little Caesar’s arena is set up with having a practice rink and the game rank Allin one venue if you’re a free agent or if you’re a player and you want to come to the Red Wings there’s a lot of positives tereno was sold this article writes after word came out that he was in agreement of two years with the Red Wings Kane could not have been happier this article also includes one of the comments from tereno saying that he had signed with Detroit because he thought it was best for his family and he liked the way the team played last year he talked to a lot of players that have played here including Patrick Kane oh yes man talk about the way the wings played off in this season the way they ended off the year with all of those clutch goals by Lucas Raymond the tight games and the wins everything was hype in Detroit to end off the 23 24 season because they barely missed out on the playoffs they were literally minutes away just one point away from making the 2024 stand the Cup playoffs and now with a team that’s got Patrick Kane with a lot more time to train a lot more time to build up chemistry with these guys and debatably with more bite in his step two Patty Kane could maybe even be better than he was in this previous season which is nuts because he was already a point per game guy but now Patrick Kane has that opportunity he’s got that dog and he’s got his own dog his buddy from New York coming over to play with the wings as well Vladimir tereno impressed by the way the wings were able to fight for their lives in their attempt at making the playoffs this year that in itself is going to entice players to come over and has tereno signed a 2-year deal I mean he’s now here for a while there is going to be some stability there obviously he is a proven winner Kane said but I think just the way he plays how hard he plays I think a lot of players in general not just young guys but the whole team will see how hard the tereno works and how much he gives it his all every shift and that’s why he has a couple of Stanley Cups to his name too so I think just adding that kind of a winning credit and presence is going to be huge for this team man who would have thought about this like a year ago Patty Kane helping recruit top free agents like Vladimir tereno Stanley Cup champions multi-time Stanley Cup champions onto the Red Wings night and day difference from last year man night and day difference now of course we got to think about the forward core as well just kind of try to put the pieces in the place here if you go over on The Daily face off they have to Bret Lin and Raymond as a first line confer tereno and Kane as a second line we had talked about this in the prior video but if JT Comer is tasked with strictly defensive responsibilities on that second line there if you just let Kane and tereno cook together then you may be looking at a pretty good formula not to say that Kane and teraso are absolutely terrible defensively but Comer has kind of been built for this role his entire career so if you just told him hey we don’t care how many points you get JT just let Kane and teraso do their thing maybe you’ll get a secondary assist once in a while as long as they’re able to comfortably navigate the offensive zone then you’ll be fine honestly I don’t think that’s the worst formula in the world obviously you don’t want to make it seem like oh yeah we’re giving so much special privilege to these guys just because they’re new here but it’s because these guys are literal Stan the Cup champions multi-time guys that have had their name placed on Lord Stanley’s Grail and who have been important parts of their teams winning it in those years even back in New York teraso with the Rangers had 21 points in 31 games played Four Points in seven games in the playoffs Patty Kane he was also under a point per game 12 points 19 games in the regular season and six points and seven games in the playoffs these two guys were pretty good together I would say and Kane you could say has even gotten better because of the surgery because of the extended training time and because now he has more opportunity to build chemistry here could you imagine saying to anybody that was a fan of the NHL in like 2017 or whatever 2018 hey tereno and Kane would be buddy buddying it up with the Detroit Red Wing in the year 2024 that would have been absolutely nuts but that is the reality that we live in here as Kane himself has been put in this spot to kind of speak out as a spokesperson for the Detroit Red Wings on the free agent market so let
