Pewter Pulse: EXPECT DOUBLE-DIGIT WINS From The 2024 Bucs

Pewter Pulse: EXPECT DOUBLE-DIGIT WINS From The 2024 Bucs

  1. There’s three things I absolutely expect in 2024

    * 10+ wins
    * Rushing Game is Top 20 or close to.
    * Baker Mayfield having a career year.

    In my opinion we got better this off-season and we are much more stable than we were a year ago, because again it was a boring off-season we got better on. I don’t expect the chaos that followed us last year for over half the season. And even then it should have been a 10 win season already if you include the thrown away Texas win. Yes, I get we have a 1st place schedule, we did last year too.

    Running Game I expect a much improved O-Line with Barton.. And again this is not far fetched. First round centers are quite literary the safest draft pick you can make. No position has a higher hit rate. In addition Bucky to take workload off White (who had the highest amount of snaps among all running backs) and Liam Coen who’s running game is much more creative than Canales was.

    As for Baker, this is quite literary the best situation he’s ever had. Scheme fit, org that supports him fully, OC that trusts him, full year of experience with his receivers, full off-season, healthy (by own admission) time to develop and a great assortment of weapons. 4000+ yards again, 30+ TD’s and a Top 10 finish is what I want to see.

    We improved from 2022 to 2023, we need to continue improving to avoid stagnation and as I see it we are prepared to do so.

  2. I am not expecting more than 10 wins. The Bucs got better this offseason, but so did the competition, and the schedule is tougher this year.

    Imo there are still too many questions to expect double digit wins. Will Baker put together two good consecutive seasons for the first time in his career? Will Chris bounce back? Will Mauch, Palmer and Otton take steps forward? Which pass rushers, if anyone, will step up and replace Barrett? Will they get pressure by committee? Or will one guy become a true #1 pass rusher? Can McCollum handle being a starting outside corner? Can K.J Britt prove himself for a whole season? Most importantly, can Coen build on Canales foundation? Will Bowles call a timeout in the first half? Edit: these questions will get answered over the course of the season and the Bucs could finish with 10+ wins, but there’s too much uncertainty for me to predict that right now.

    I’m expecting 9 wins, plus or minus 2 wins depending on player development, health, and luck. This is, hopefully, a foundation year for the next couple of seasons. I think it’s telling that Licht didn’t go all out this offseason. Dump off some more cap, extend and restructure value players, evaluate if this coach and roster core is worth building on, then go all out for 2025.

  3. I keep my expectations very low. Too many things can happen that will just result in disappointment, like key players getting injured.

  4. I feel like Bucs fans know better than to expect a ton, it honestly just ruins the fun. Better to take it as it comes.
