This has MASSIVE implications for Montreal… – Trade reports INTENSIFYING

we have a massive update coming out of the KHL that has huge implications for Ivan demov and the Montreal Canadians as there’s now one more level of separation between the KHL and the Russian Federation meaning Kent Hughes will probably have an easier time bringing over to meetv very very soon we’re also going to get into Arthur CV a former very highly ranked Prospect with some really good goal scoring numbers at the junior level and how he is linked to a trade with the Montreal Canadians that plus much more on this episode of habs digest before we get into that stuff Jesse though I want want to start with this and this was Mark dumal doing some tier rankings of the Habs prospects and I just want to say the Habs are almost there they almost have a perfect Prospect pool I think the only thing we can ask for at this point is maybe one or two more guys that could project to be real true top six guys but even that might just be getting picky but I want to show you just the top two tiers of what Mal Deo had to say and uh it’s very interesting so we’re going to start with tier one which is just straight up pretty simple players with Elite Talent potential game changers there’s a nice paragraph you can read they talking about how can sleep soundly drafting demov led to the prospect pool being described as nearly perfect the only guys in this tier are Lane Hudson Ian demidov I would put demov at the top of that tier Hudson at the bottom it doesn’t really matter only two guys with Elite Talent and the other one Jesse is the high-end Talent likely to make the NHL this is where we might get some more controversy with Joshua H David reinbacher Michael ha Jacob Fowler and Owen Beck now that’s a big range of you know tiers of prospects of quality of prospects I wanted to get your first thoughts on this now why why did that pop again I want to get your first thoughts on this is there anyone you’d move around in this CU to me I saw a lot of fans complaining Ryan Bacher and Beck were in the same tier but I definitely can’t disagree with the elite potential tier at all I like this list I would keep it the way it is because they’re showing my boy Lane Hudson that respect he deserves you know and for teams it’s rare to have you know two players in that Elite level you know normally you’re lucky if you just have the one but rightfully I think in this list it’s shown that we have two Elite level ECT so honestly so amazing to see this still so excited that we have Ivan deid off I almost can’t believe it in a lot of ways right but these are both players that can be game changers like Dynamic completely change a game you know score those game-winning goals I think of Ivan demidov and Lane Hudson much of the same way even though we know Lane Hudson was so slept on for so long you know many a team passing over him you know I think he’s right where he needs to be as for that second tier obviously there’s a little bit of variance there but completely agree and I think that ha deserves to be in there as well I think Ryan Bacher is going to turn out to be an amazing player but just because he’s not that gamebreaking sort of player just be a very very good consistent NHL I think he totally belongs in that second tier so for the most part I think it’s a really great job on this list yeah like Ryan Bacher is amazing it’s weird how they’re worded right like likely to make the NHL and gamebreaking talent are kind of what separates it so it’s like you know based on how he described I think it’s good the one question I want to ask you though Jesse look I would put Ryan Bacher at the top of this tier let me just say that right now I think he’s right at the top but the only other guy I wanted to ask you about is a guy that’s not here and I saw a lot of habs fans complaining about this when they saw this list and I’m not sure if I agree but I want to hear your thoughts quickly before we move on what do you think about Mayu not being in the likely to make the NHL TI what do you feel about him being in tier three which is kind of like he needs still has some work to do if he projects to be in the NHL that would have been one player that I probably would have put in this group as well angstrom I would have in that steer just below even though you could say they’re somewhat kind of similar like Mayu like offensively for sure deserves to be in tier two it’s just probably because of the defensive thing that he’s in that thir tier I just think because of his size because of you know the coaching that he’s going to get in Montreal I think that that part of his game is going to round out so I could definitely see him you know being there on the legs and you know possibly even being a player that has a greater net effect than even like an OM back which we know would be a huge upgrade to this team which would contribute to this team in so many ways Logan again is one of those players that he has those Dynamic sort of qualities where he can really affect a game right so interested to see where this will all shake out but yeah Logan I think we’re GNA see him start to climb up some of these rankings for sure it’s going to be very interesting to follow but we’re g to move on quickly we got a lot of stuff to get into in this video and I want to talk about this trade room now if you guys watched yesterday’s video talking about David saaga from that same list from Dave pangat at the the fourth period there was a couple other players that had Montreal as one of these teams that was reportedly linked to them in terms of Trades and uh well one certain player I’m going to bring up now and that’s Arthur CV of the Los Angeles Kings now CV is only 23 he’s a restricted free agent and Montreal is one of five teams reportedly linked to him he wants a trade and an opportunity for more ice time and responsibility on another team the Kings will try to make that request a reality this offseason and prefer to package him in a deal for an upgrade on the roster now C have Jesse coming into the n was very highly touted for his goal scoring ability but he really hasn’t shown it at the level we would have wanted especially this past season with only 15 points seven goals in 51 games but as you can see on the bottom right his Cory 4 percentage which is basically his team’s shots block shots and Miss shots basically the shot control of his team versus the other team when he’s he’s on the ice it’s well above average when he’s out there his team is controlling the shots he had a very good expected plus minus he and his shot percentage was a bit lower than we had expect he takes shots he just wasn’t making him now this is very much another I guess Rehabilitation project I don’t know if I want to say Rehabilitation but you know what I mean right like one of these Kirby doc new hook type deals because cab straight up doesn’t have the pedigree of a good player and that’s something that I think Kent Hughes has really been looking for I feel like we’re for me we’re past that point for me CV is not the kind of guy that I’d want to bring in to give up any type of big asset for the thing is Jesse if he’s as cheap as it seems like he might be as an RFA like he wants a trade he’s coming off a bad season if you can pick him up for scraps that is a world where I’m like hey you know what you might as well take a shot and see what he can do with some of the Habs the Habs forwards that are here right now well the reasons to do this would be that the kings are really close up against the cap right now and you could probably do it with some prospects with some picks everything else like that the pros for him are definitely like in his first season though in NHL scoring 14 goals isn’t a bad debut you know followed up with 13 goals the next season after for sure had a little bit of regression this past year but looking at that shooting percentage you’d have to feel like that’s going to go up a little bit it’s this the thing with Kent Hughes right now is again like his big word is like upgrade and I I think you know we’re definitely looking to kind of just upgrade from that Reclamation project you know and it’s like if calv isn’t a top six player with the halfs he’s almost kind of getting in the way of like our bottom six which is already so crowded and then we have some young guys that are going to be pushing for some spot already so although there is offensive Talent there for sure which we need the Habs are kind of in no man’s land right where that’s what so amazing about getting that Ivan demidov pick you know and even ha who has that top six sort of capabilities because like that’s the type of players that we really need to get if it’s not top six it’s not really fitting what we need right now at least not until we get rid of of some contracts that being said there there’s good size there um you know you have to feel like that those goal scoring totals will go up but for me I just feel like you know Kirby doc Alex new hook kind of felt like a Montreal Canadian certain ways like comes down to culture comes down to character we don’t want to say everything kind of involved or make a full assessment you know on the young man if know things not related to hockey right but we just know what players kind of fit our culture right which I think is so important so I think that you know just for that reason I think that Kent would probably be pass it on this I would agree he’s not someone I’d personally want to bring in but again the upside is there but Jesse I’m starting to turn that corner in terms of I don’t need any more upside we got all the upside we need it’s time to be competitive so let us know down below if he’s a guy you guys would be interested in but I got a funny feeling a lot of you will probably be on the same page as us final topic and this is the most important thing this has huge implications like straight up so there’s been a lot of talk about the KHL recently of course starting with the matvey mitkov stuff him coming over way sooner than expected the Flyers kind of you know buying out his contract he’s just like I’m done I’m gone I’m leaving for North America and now as of yesterday there is some some more updates and I want to bring these up for you right now full screen here hockey news Hub who is one of the most tuned in sources on Twitter for Russian hockey news to breaking news the KHL will remain in the Russian hockey system and will directly interact with the ministry of sports gaining independence from theihf and the fhr fhr being uh the Russian Hockey Federation so basically this kind of creates a little bit of a split or more of a split than there ever was between the KHL and the Russian Federation in the country so you know all these issues before how the government get out look there’s still probably going to be some connections between the Russian Federation and the league but regardless this is a split this is something that we haven’t seen I think since the league was founded so it’s a really interesting thing and also from KHL and Euro talk there they announced the separation from Russia hockey KHL is going to be independent from theihf getting the same legal status of the NHL and a question was asked if the NHL wanted to get their drafted player say they’re playing over in the KHL and they wanted to bring him to the NHL would they get a release for the contract or what would it be and they said there’s no changes there the NHL team just needs to negotiate with the KHL Club if a player is under contract if they come to an agreement the player can sign in the NHL the agreement can include a transfer fee so Jesse with the KHL becoming much more independent now the NHL teams could already kind of just negotiate like we’ve talked about before negotiate a buyout or whatever whatever to bring a player over but now it feels like these hoops these worries are just it’s getting easier than ever to bring a guy over and I’m seeing a lot of people already saying why not just bring demov over as soon as possible as soon as during this season if possible I mean the Habs also have some other Russian prospects we’ll get into but to me this is just like such such good news especially for a Montreal team who does have a couple of prospects stashed over in Russia yeah let’s get those transfer discussions going you know but all the same I think Ivan demov I think will’ll play in the KHL this upcoming year I think having one year where even though the younger guys don’t always get the most amount of ice time I think we’ll really serve him well he’ll be ready to go from there just kind of get that step up in opposition from the ml which I I think will be so huge but Josh you know we’re we’re no strangers to this you know in Montreal in Quebec when it comes to hockey the line between church and state it’s kind of blurred right it’s not always so clear right so we get where this is coming from but this is doing nothing but really helping you know the Montreal Canadians prospects and for many other teams that’s making it a little bit easier right for for them to come over so for me this is big news this has big implications obviously comes at an amazing time after just drafting Ivan demon off if anything it just makes it feel like any worries we kind of had are just kind of lessened by all this Josh but I’m so excited about the implications of maybe bringing volokin over who’s somebody that we’re lowkey big on on the channel and also fan favorite Bogdan kuskov over here sooner than later Josh what do you think about this because for me I’m really excited about it oh man me too like these are the two guys that we’ve loved to talk about more so bug done than anyone else a bug Dominator he’s just amazing you know I have seen a lot of people questioning whether Don would even come over to North America because he’s already the captain of his team he’s probably going to get a big contract he’s quite a good point getter in the KHL for a defenseman but I mean I know he’s not the biggest guy 5’11 you don’t know how he’s going to translate to the NHL but he has leadership qualities he has scoring potentially he has a lot of stuff and I think that Happ to be remiss if they didn’t make an effort to bring him over though his contract does run for another three years I think he probably stays just cuz he’s the captain and I’m sure eigor Lov really really likes him I don’t know how long salv is going to stay over over there maybe Anton Sal come into the NHL will well maybe make Bugan want to come as well I would love to see him but yeah this underrated one and you have Genny vokin he’s going to start in the vhl this year after having obviously a phenomenal past two seasons in the MHL which was demidov’s league but going to the vhl which is the minor league for the KHL vhl is the same as the AHL basically if we’re talking Russia versus North America I’m super excited for V and Jess he’s only 19 I’m excited to see what he can do this year and one of those sneaky guys that you never know could maybe come over to Laval if he has another really strong season we’re talking maybe two three years down the road but again just having this this more independent KHL I think bus very well for Montreal yeah for sure and you know that Jacob Fowler’s keeping an eye on this becausein is one of those guys that I feel could could kind of push I don’t know if he’s at Fowler’s tier right now but I feel like it’s one of those guys that could lowkey kind of compete with him right and kind of push push them there right we know we already have some good young goalies you know starting in Montreal for but you know the future is really now right and just having this news that it’s going to be easier for some of these great players that we’ve drafted you know especially bogam being such an incredible late Riser just you know anything that really helps get him here to Montreal just a little bit sooner even if it’s not this year but maybe we start thinking about it more for the beginning of next season I think would be absolutely phenomenal for the hats super excited let us know your thoughts Down Below on what implications this has not only for now but also for the future of Russian picks in the NHL KL piic cuz it’s not just the Habs this has League wide implications it’s a really really cool thing and honestly it’s really exciting to see but that’ll do it for this episode of habs dig just thank you all if you’re watching at this point for 13,000 Subs I asked yesterday to get a few more subs to get there we did it so if you’re still watching at this point in the video special thank you to you for sticking around and for being one of those 13,000 I hope because if you’re not hit the button down below now I’m Josh gos my co Jesse P we’ll catch you in the next one

  1. ??? Who would you rather have then Arthur Kaliyev on the 3rd line wing ?!? No one in the Habs pool, he would fit perfectly on the Habs

  2. Ever wonder why Russian players sign KHL contracts that run 1/2 years past their draft year? I say it's on purpose for the KHL team to receive a buy out

  3. Things I would add to our prospect pool; 1- Luka Radevojivic (offensive RD)
    2- Jack Ivankovic (elite Goalie)
    3- Big fourth line center

We might be fine with what we already have but these would good insurance policies

  4. Reinbacher is ahead of any of the Habs youngsters as a prospect. He will have a year in Laval to develop…then watch out. Logan M. Will be high on the list as well. Hutson needs time in Laval to get used to the men’s pro game.

  5. Just realized we got lots of potential guys who can play both center or wing and that's a good thing. Especially if Beck and Hage can too, don't see why not but I haven't personally seen them play so 🤔

    Dach/Newhook/Roy/RHP?/F.Xhekaj/Mesar/Beck?/Hage?

  6. Low key, need to stop getting so hyped for all the prospects, especially the goalies. A couple of years ago, everyone was nuts for Primeau, it’s always the new shiny toy. This is a big year for a lot of the young guys, especially Monty & Prime.
