Buffalo Sabres Offseason Outlook

Buffalo Sabres Offseason Outlook

remember Ryan McLoud he was impactful for the Edmonton Oilers as they made it all the way to game seven of the cup final he is no longer an Edmonton Oiler McLoud joining the Buffalo Sabers he met the media let’s listen to Ryan on joining the Sabers uh yeah a little surprised um I you kind of I don’t wasn’t really expecting to get red but you know super excited to at the same time um I think I’m coming to a you know team where there’s a you a lot of excitement around and uh I think it’s be a great spot a lot of skill on that team um you know we got a lot of skill in the back end too which is uh it’s going to be fun to play with that um a lot of good Puck movers got could skate so yeah just kind of seeing where I could fit in and and I think it’s going to be you know you know the younger team obviously then before in Edmonton so yeah I know I’m I’m super excited think it’ll be a lot of fun you know I play the game you know kind of on both sides of the puck so you know I think my defensive game really helps you know be hard to play against can play you know hopefully against those top guys and and try and shut them down but yeah I think just just being you know on the pucks having the puck it’s you know it’s kind of tough to score or get scored against when you you have it and yeah I think when you play with Pace obviously you know tough It’s tiring tiing their team down so kind of like that he was popular in their room and you know why he has a terrific personality and oh by the way he also contributed for a team that nearly made history getting all the way to that game seven of the cup final we look at mccloud’s numbers and we think about the transition from a team that was the Western conf conference champ to a team in the East that has the longest playoff drought in NHL history to this point tough to accept for him and for this team what kind of Outlook looking at their personnel you know I I think um this is a roster to me that and we were talking about this in our uh production meeting today Tony you know this was a group we’re all sitting as as last year kind of we embark on the regular season last year this was a group Buffalo were anticipating to be one of those top eight in the Eastern Conference f short of expectations I like this roster I continue to be really bullish on this roster I think there’s a lot of depth and a lot of real Dynamic Playmakers up front uh tuck and uh Tage Thompson come to mind right out of the gate um your minus a Skinner he’s a longtime important piece of that roster but you know transitioning to this year and I think this group learns a lot about what it takes to get there uh having gone through a season like they did last year I think they’re more motivated coming out of the gate but built down the middle in the following way Thompson cousins then Ryan McLoud now having I added Ryan McLoud you really like the way this team is starting to coales um it takes more than just a you know a talented top six we’ve seen this is an essential element you need depth to be a formidable a playoff opponent in this league today and I think adding a McLoud really gives you that um and really I think a the forward core is an important sector of this roster to focus on um the bow and Byron trade last year last year’s deadline tone all of a sudden nobody saw this coming for one but then almost overnight you’re looking at this Buffalo Decor like wow this this might be one of the more talented bunches um you know bunch of blue Liners in you know in the Eastern Conference today so this roster to me um has has all the indications of being a being a top eight in the Eastern Conference and we know depth is so important
