WHAT SHOULD EXPECTATIONS BE FOR THE INDIANA PACERS IN 2024-2025?

hey guys what is up it is the fast break report here bringing you guys another Vlog so I want to talk about the Pacers because every team in the NBA seems like they’re getting better except for the Pacers and that’s that’s that’s a problem um I want to talk about this a couple people wanted me to talk about playoff seating and stuff like that and I’m going to talk about playoff seating but not really for other teams I’m going to talk mostly about the Pacers because um the Pacers are in a very interesting spot and and the reason I say that is because I feel like we’re offic like the OKC of the Eastern Conference where we have our our our guy in Tyrese halberton we have a second guy right now and Pascal cakam who just came back for $200 million um glad to see that the Pacers got that contract done uh but the problem is everything else in between is a question mark that’s that’s the problem with the Pacers um yeah you have Miles Turner but he’s in a contract year you have TJ McConnell who’s also in a contract year Andrew n hard’s uh extension eligible I I I don’t see the pace is not extending Andrew num hard um but the thing is this upcoming year there’s going to be some decisions that have to be made um you know we we’re we’re one team in the NBA that has a bunch of promising young talent and that’s a great spot to be in but it’s also a shitty spot to be in because you don’t know who your third guy is going to be you know we look around the roster you know your point guard slot is uh Tyrese halberton um Andrew num hard and TJ McConnell then you go look at your Wing SLU position right you’ve got Ben Shepard you’ve got jarus Walker you’ve got Ben mathine you’ve got Aaron n Smith right that’s four guys right there okay you got to look through them and say like okay who’s going to be our third because I’m going to be honest this entire season’s going to ride on who becomes that third guy Ben mathine Aaron nemith or jarus Walker and I know Aaron nemith is a guy that everybody’s kind of like you know he’s good but nobody wants to give him the type of credit that I think he’s deserved as far as a guy who could potentially be our third option I I feel like a lot of people don’t think about that but Aaron nemith is a guy that is like three in D okay and if he he’s got a little bit of a mid-range jumper if he gets in his bag a little bit more and we start seeing him progress past Ben mathine like don’t be surprised if if if you see a trade at the deadline if we’re winning of like TJ McConnell plus Ben mathin or uh uh Andrew nard Ben mathine and Isaiah Jackson for somebody um like don’t don’t be if that happens because this whole upcoming season is going to be about self-discovery um you know you have a lot of young talent and you got to find out who’s going to be good at what you know they just brought back Obi toppen as well Obi toppen has been great on offense but shitty on defense um in the playoffs this past year we got lucky avoided a lot of the the the forest from the trees so to speak you know we we avoided a lot of the trees we avoided you know jool and beid we avoided Giannis um we uh you know the Knicks were injury plagued against us um so it’s like even though we made the Eastern Conference Finals I I think Pacers fans need to understand that it was kind of a fluke run um you know I understand we beat the Bucks in the regular season with Giannis averaging 42 points per game last season but the thing is like our record like we need to win games against Bad teams we need to uh you know try to try to sustain winning against some of these teams and I granted this team plays better against good teams I don’t know why and they can’t win a single game against teams like the and the Detroit Pistons or the Charlotte Hornets but um Chicago’s tearing it down so hopefully we should beat them and they lost to rzan so there’s no reason we should be losing to Chicago anymore but it’s just the idea this H season is about finding out who is going to be on this roster long term um and I feel like that’s part of the reason they’re running it back you know we we did need more size you know we needed a a big in the middle we did end up picking up James wisman who I think by the time it’s all said and done will be ahead of Jer uh Isaiah Jackson in the rotation uh James wiseman’s a guy that I feel like has just had a shitty hand dealt to him and has been in like the wrong situations or in situations with a bad coach or um being asked to do too much with the Golden State Warriors with with the way I’ve seen the Pacers bring along guys like Aaron n Smith and Andrew neard and Obi toppen um you know uh Jaylen Smith with the way that I’ve seen them bring along young guys who either were like looked over or rejected for whatever reason they do a great job at developing players and I think James wiseman’s going to be a guy that develops a lot and very quickly before our our eyes I think James wiseman’s going to be phenomenal for us um but like you’re you’re pretty much three deep at every position uh Ben Shepard’s a guy that his minutes are probably going to go back a little bit this upcoming year but the Pacers primary objective this upcoming season is to just find out who’s going to be a part of your future and who isn’t uh you know we have a lot of young talent and that’s a good thing but it’s also a bad thing because at some point you know like if you want Ben ma to become the player that we all think he is you got to take the ball out of somebody’s hands you know you got to take the ball out of uh Andrew num hard’s hands or you got to take the ball out of Aaron neith’s hands or you got to take the ball out of uh miles Turner’s hands or or it’s not going to happen to se yakum or Hy because they they’re the two highest paid guys on the team that shit’s not happening but when it comes to guys getting minutes okay like don’t be surprised if Ben Maan eats up some of Andrew neh hard’s minutes and some of nce Smith’s minutes and jarus walk might even get some of icks minutes or the the minutes that Jaylen Smith had um so there’s just there’s a lot of soul searching that’s what this team is doing this upcoming season is soul searching uh we we know Halle Burton’s the future we know siakam’s the future but Miles Turner on the other hand Miles Turner is a guy that you know he could say maybe I want some more bread and the Pacers could be like we love you but uh we need that money to maybe bring back Andrew neard you know like Ben mathan I think is in in a contract year this he’s he’s he’s extension him and Andrew neard I think are also extension eligible this upcoming season um so the the front office has a lot of hard decisions to make you know at some point it sucks to say this but at some point this front office is going to be forced to choose between Andrew nart and TJ McConnell um and Andrew nard is just too good um he is a guy that is like great defender um he he’s grown lot that I feel like that playoff run benefited him more than anybody else on the team um but Andrew neh hard’s a guy where it’s like you’re at a point now where he’s kind of a luxury item like I I hate to say that because he’s he’s so like important to what this team does but if the right player comes along Jimmy Butler decides he doesn’t want to be in Miami anymore or or any of that you know what I’m saying like but that’s the only circumstance you would trade Andrew neard you know the only circumstance you would ever trade Andrew neard or Ben mathine or jarus Walker or any of these guys is if a Leonard becomes available or a uh a Jimmy Butler becomes available or something of that caliber you know what I’m saying obviously Kawhi Leonard is kind of a injury-prone guy but all I’m saying is like those are the type of guys like if you’re going to trade any of our young guys that’s what you have to go after there’s no ifans or butts like that’s what you have to go after so all I’m saying is I think the Pacers are a team that will win anywhere from 48 to 52 games this upcoming year unfortunately with how good the East has gotten I feel like that puts them in the in the 5 through eight seed or 5 through 10 seed may I don’t think they’ll be a playing team but you never know uh the East is you know basketball has had some crazy happen um Orlando is still a good team so like I I feel like this puts them in that range you know what I’m saying like 5 through eight um but anything is possible man all I’m saying is like this upcoming year if Ben mathan can can become our Paul George which it it sucks to say that but you know like you know we gota we got to draw some comparison here if Ben Maan can become our Paul George become like a three and D guy um a guy who can take people off the dribble get his handle in you know a little bit tighter uh become better at making shots off the dribble if Andrew nard continues to be the player he was that could be very huge I feel like all our guys competing in the Olympics and stuff like that is going to be beneficial um Tyrese halberton against Canada last night looked like a better Defender I liked what I saw out of Halle Burton last night so at least Halbert and Benedict Maan both realized as the two worst two of the worst Defenders on the team that they need to get better at that end of the floor at least they acknowledge that Obby toppin is a guy I’m going to be looking at to get better on defense because uh I’m going to tell you right now man Obi toppin is a great player he fits what we do perfectly but if he doesn’t start improving on defense I don’t be surprised if you start seeing jarus Walker start over him um you know I understand Obi toppin is a perfect fit but at the same time it’s like you know defense is what wins championships okay like we’ve we’ve seen that like yes offense helps a lot but you’re not winning a chip without being a good defensive team uh so hopefully this team emphasizes that a little bit um this upcoming year hopefully we get better at defense but understand I just want to I’m going to go out on this too understand if this team takes a step back and we don’t end up in the Eastern Conference Finals because I don’t think it’s going to happen I feel like we’re going to be a second round playoff team maybe okay uh you look around at the other teams in the East you know Philly got better New York got better Boston is still Boston um we have yet to see you know if if uh Dame and Giannis are going to gel together like I just I just don’t I can’t Envision a world where the Bucks Duo of Giannis and Dame play worse than they did last season I just I just don’t see it happening uh they have they’ve had an entire summer to you know play together hang out together they’re going to be in training camp together um there could there’s I I guarantee you the Bucks are going to change the way they play basketball because they lost Malik Beasley as well um they’re a team that I look at and I say yes they uh they were still a very very good team in the regular season but at the same time it’s like they could be I think they’re going to get better you know I I know there’s people who don’t believe in the Giannis Dame Duo but I understand we kicked their ass last season in the regular season with Giannis averaging 42 a game but still they’re going to be a tough out they’re not an easy team to play um you know you look also at Orlando Orlando is a team that’s not super crazy talented to look at you know what I’m saying like they’re they’re kind of an Island of Misfit Toys of good guys just playing on the same team but they’re still a very good defensive team they’re going to be a hard team to beat um you know like it’s just when you look around the East dog like the only team that’s getting significantly worse is Chicago you know what I’m saying Chicago is on their way out the Detroit signed Tobias Harris they brought in um uh JB bicker staff as a new head coach I think Jay Ivy is going to take a huge step forward this upcoming year now that they have JB bicker staff as a head coach um Jaylen Duran’s a guy that’s constantly improving Charlotte just brought back miles Bridges okay Charlotte’s going to have lamelo ball Brandon Miller miles Bridges and Mark Williams in their starting five like Charlotte’s got a an impressive young core going on uh so it’s just the idea like even though Charlotte should be one of the easier teams to play in the East we we were a team that played shitty against teams with a below 500 record we lost you know had we won 13 or 14 of those lost games to teams below 500 or Lottery teams we would have been like a top three seed in the East but you know uh kind of a missed opportunity at this point because of just how crazy the Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers have went um Miami is always a tossup I know there’s people who think Miami is overrated that’s perfectly fine but bam atabo is arguably a defensive player of the year candidate every year Jimmy Butler is still uh you know play off Michael Jordan sometimes uh you know they still have Terry Rosier they’re gonna have a full season with Terry Rosier on their roster they still have Tyler herro um yes they did lose Caleb Martin but it’s just the idea like they’re still a solid unit they brought back Kevin Love they you know they didn’t lose a whole lot so the one team I think is going to take a significant step backwards is Cleveland Cleveland is the one team I look at and I’m like I don’t know man I don’t I don’t think they’re as good as people think Cleveland is the question mark team um they’re they’re the team that it’s like you know they could Cleveland is the Wild Horse team in the East where they could end up in the top three if they get their together or they could you know be a playin team if they play like so and and unfortunately the Pacers are in that boat as well the Pacers are a team where it’s like if they get their together if they if Ben mathon becomes the guy we think he could be Pacers could be a top three seed in the East or they could be a playing Team um so don’t be discouraged you know what I’m saying that’s what I’m saying like that’s why I’m making this video is based on this upcoming season Pacers are going to do some soul searching find out what guys are worth keeping what guys are not worth keeping guys are going to become available in the trade market we’re going to see you know probably do something at the trade deadline because we can’t keep everybody um but it’s just the idea do not be discouraged okay if the Pacers end up being a first round or second round exit team do not be discouraged the East is very good A lot of these teams are way more established than we are you know yeah we got our two stars but we’re looking for our third guy um and it’s it’s going to be there’s going to be a lot of rotation changes this year too like that’s something else that you have to consider in the win loss record is like you know they’re going to try starting jarus Walker they’re going to try starting Ben Maan they’re going to try starting Aaron nemith at that three spot you know they’re going to probably try a lineup of uh um halberton nard nce Smith SE yakum and Turner then another night they’re going to try a lineup of halberton um mathine uh n Smith turn uh Pascal and Turner or or something like that or you know uh maybe I don’t know maybe they try to start Wiseman and and they’re not going to bring Miles Turner Off the Bench but they they might have a couple games where they start wisan just to see just to see how he plays with Pascal zakum um because like I said miles is in a contract year I know it’s kind of hard to think of Miles Turner coming off the bench cuz I he’s been the longest 10e Pacer on the team but you never know you never know man like he’s in a contract year the Pacers might say okay let’s I just want to see it you know I just want to see and it’s not going to be a permanent start either if James wisman starts over Miles Turner at any point in the season it’s going to be because miles is injured or because the front office is just trying to see something uh so I don’t know man all I know is this this entire season is going to be a crazy toss up and uh I I do expect the the Pacers to take a step back I know it’s going to be an UNP opinion I know people aren’t going to like me saying that but that’s fine um I’m not here to be delusional uh I just think the East is gotten better it’s gotten a lot better and we’re just making incremental changes and bringing back what we got um at this point okay I think it’s safe to say the Indiana Pacers are like the Oklahoma City of the Eastern Conference um we got a halberton who on a good year I think could be an MVP level guy we brought back SE yakum now now it’s a matter of developing our guys seeing who becomes what and running with it you know like at this point we’re figuring out the blueprint that’s that’s what I’m saying man we’re we’re figuring out the blueprint we got tyres got Pascal who’s our third that’s that’s what this season is about who the is our third because I’m telling you right now by the trade deadline okay it’s not nemith it’s not Walker it’s not mathine okay if it’s none of them okay trade’s going to be happening I’m going to tell you right now trade’s going to be happening is like I I hate to put that type of pressure on a guy like Ben mathine but somebody’s going to have to get those shots boy that’s all I’m saying somebody’s going to have to get those shots and they’re they’re going to give them to nemith they’re going to give them to Walker maybe well Walker will probably start with the second unit but um it’s going to be between n Smith and mathine know those are the two guys like we know what nart is you know what I’m saying we we know what Andrew nart is he’s kind of like our Drew holiday at at this point um but and I I don’t see I I honestly I feel like I don’t see a world where the Pacers trade Andrew neard at this point unless they get blown away by a trade offer but when you look at Aaron E Smith and Ben mathine dog like their teammates but they going to be fighting over that Wing Spot like that that small forward position we need to solidify it everybody knows we need to solidify it and Rick car there going to be a lot of rotation changes at that at that spec like that specific spot I feel like throughout the entire season right halberton spot miles spot and Pascal SP spot are going to be secure okay it’s going to be uh the the three the three spot I think yeah the three spot and the two spot are going to be the two spots where we do a lot of playing um you know they’re going to they’re going to try nard as a starter then they’re going to try him as the backup point guard then uh what they’ll do is they’ll plug Ben Maan at the two and N Smith at the three or they’ll plug in N Smith at the two and mathine at the three or jarus at the two and mathine at the three or uh you know like it or it’s just it’ll be a cluster that’s all I’m saying that’s what the that’s what this season’s going to be a cluster they’re going to cuz after the All-Star break last year they played nard at the two and and nard held down so if nard doesn’t start the season like I would if our if our starting five isn’t like to start this season I feel like our starting five is going to be like halberton nard n Smith uh SE yakum and Turner I feel like that’s the most likely starting five um and then they’ll they’ll Ben mathine in and out but I I just I’m that’s what this season’s going to be about that’s that’s all it’s going to be about and uh unfortunately that’s not that’s not Championship level mentality I hate to say that to you but like you know like yeah we we could make a run but you know the pace are going to have to figure out really really quick if they if they want to try to win a championship this upcoming year I don’t think they’re going to I I have a feeling that like Philly and Boston are just going to be too good Milwaukee’s a team that could impress um you know the Knicks are a team that you really got to look out for so I I think I think honestly if you’re a Pacers fan do not go into this season with championship aspirations that’s all I’m trying to tell you if you go into this season with championship as not not aspirations Championship expectations okay if you go into this season with championship expectations which there’s not a lot of people out there doing that but there are some if you’re going into this season with championship expectations for the Indiana Pacers I have a feeling you’re going to be um very very disappointed uh because they they’re still a very young team there’s a lot of young guys on this roster great problem to have a lot of really really young talented guys that that need minutes um which is a good problem to have but also at the same time it’s like somebody’s going to get I’m just letting you know I’m just going to tell you right now that’s that’s the purpose of this video is that someone we don’t know who but someone is going to get by the trade deadline whether it’s Andrew nard Ben mathine Aaron n Smith Obi toppen jarus Walker okay TJ McConnell somebody somebody’s going to get I’m just telling you right now that’s what’s going to happen because you can’t you can’t like the the the the guard heavy backcourt play okay Ben Shepard like you have Tyrese halberton T.J McConnell and Andrew nard who are all like like starter borderline starter guys okay we know halberton is a starter we know nard is a starter T.J McConnell is our backup point guard but could be be a starter on a lot of teams in the league so all I’m saying is be looking out for it that’s all tell me what you guys think about this down below in the comment section below like help me out subscribe if you guys want to see more I’m the fast break report and I’m out of this peace guys

  1. 5th seed or higher, 2nd round exit should be the expectations record wise. The true expectation is clear internal development and defensive improvement. If they maintain a top 5 offensive rating and improve to 10th-12th in defensive rating that would be huge.

  2. I 100% agree this year is 1 step back so we can take 2 steps forward the next year. Also would love to see a Tyrese Mathurin Jarace Siakam Turner lineup at at some point.

  3. Not worried that any non playoff team will surpass us. But Philly is better than us and that puts at 7th. But my expectation is that we make the playoffs without the play in, 6th again. They could have a better record and still barely get in. Myles is your third.

  4. Probably have to trade two guys for expirings. Obi should be one of them unless Walker bombs out. The other is probably TJ with our new rook taking his place as 3rd point. IJax could be a casualty as well…if Wiseman grows up.

  5. It feels like they're running it back, going to give a bunch of young talent more chances, and then conjure up a trade to get something for a couple guys.

    1. Celtics
    2. Bucks
    3. Knicks
    4. Pacers
    5. Philly
    6. Orlando
    7. Heat
    8. Cavs

  6. The Pacers are going to be cap strapped here in the next couple of years. The Pacers have a lot guards/small forwards. Turner is important to the offense because he's the best center on the team. I thought he was playing at a high level until he had the back injuries pop up against the Celtics. Don't be surprised if Nembhard gets traded in the next couple of years. Don't worry about the Pacers. It will come down to health. If Pascal Siakam, Haliburton and Turner stay healthy, I think the Pacers can be the 2nd best team in the East. That's "if" they can stay healthy.

  7. I can't disagree. The East will be challenging. Yes, the Pacers are wise to run it back & be a little patient imo. Not making a trade just to make a trade.
