New Met reliever Phil Maton looked solid during a 1-2-3 7th in his first outing as a Met. Seems to have a solidifying effect for the bullpen as they’ve had a strong past two games without any drama or blown holds/saves which had been a recurring theme. If Hearns can add another top reliever who can occasionally close games to complement Diaz we could really have a strong & balanced pitching staff. The starters have been solid & the rotation is deep which will be even better upon Senga’s return.
If the bullpen can come together to provide consistent strong relief this team will be dangerous for the stretch run. If not for several blown leads by the bullpen we could easily have 7-8 more wins rather than losses the past 6 weeks alone & could be right there with the Braves at the moment.
This team has heart & grit along with that “IT” factor which JD, Vientos & especially Iglesias have brought to this team. They’re playing fundamentally sound baseball & most importantly having fun out there. LFGM❕
