Where will Patrik Laine be Traded?

Patrick l and the Columbus Blue Jacket have agreed it’s time to part ways things are not working out Captain Paul for the locker room appreciate if you can drop a like comment and subscribe any of that help is really really appreciated so line a player that has a lot of potential a guy that has scored 40 goals in his career why is he being moved entering in his prime taking second overall in the 2016 NHL entry draft by the wi pick Jets he showed a lot of Flash and promise with the Jets scoring 36 goals in his first year then his second year in the league scoring 44 But as time has gone on throughout his NHL career he still can score in the mid 20s but he’s become a better facilitator and his goals have gone down due to that and last season to give him credit he was willing to play a position he has never played in his career and it was Center he’s naturally left WI and while the center project didn’t work out for a lot of different reasons mainly him never really playing Center and also due to the fact of him entering the players assistance program in January last year wasn’t a great year for L and it seems like he just wants a fresh start elsewhere where things get complicated with Lion is his capit $8.7 billion per year that’s a lot of cap to take on and if the jackets are going to want a deal L they’ll most likely have to to retain around half maybe 25% of his salary because with how tight up a lot of these good teams are against the cap unless he goes to a team like the Anaheim Ducks I don’t see many teams accepting a full cap hit for Lon now L whether it’s deserved or undeserved has a reputation of being a locker room cancer not plld levels of locker room cancer but being kind of a pain in the butt now I’m not these locker rooms generally anybody in this comment section is not in these locker rooms so we don’t know if it’s just speculation we don’t know if it’s true we don’t know it’s false but taking all of that off ice talk to the side is lon a good hockey player and yes the two seasons prior to last year he was a round a point per game clip 2022 to 23 55 games played 22 goals 30 assists for 52 points 21 to 2 2 56 games played 26 goals 30 assists for 56 points I would argue if he plays around 75 to 80 games in both of those Seasons he’s most likely a 30 plus goal scorer he’s a good facilitator has a great shot I think he’s a viable top six option it will be a nice addition to any contending team the problem is is will he be able to play a full 82 will he be on the ice will he be engaged there’s just so many question marks where it comes to line that it does make teams a little bit wary about bringing him into their organization he’s had eight seasons in the NHL at this point in his career that’s a long sample size and he is shown to be productive but sometimes not available so what’s going to be the asking price some people compare it to ks net off maybe a third round pick but the difference in my opinion is that cuz net off is leaving his Prime and Li a is entering his prime that’s not to bmer KET off as a player I think he’s fantastic in his own right but L is younger and you could argue he still has a lot left in the tank and could score 30 goals multiple Seasons throughout the remaining term of his deal if he’s going to be dealt it’s going to be dealt to a team with a lot of cast space available and the jackets will most likely have to retain at least 25% but most likely 50% of line steal few teams that do come to mind is the Montreal Canadians they currently have $1.21 million available in cast base maybe the Buffalo Sabers they could make a play San Jose Sharks I think they’re trying to be more respectable on the ice they have 14.65 million the Red Wings currently have around 19.9 to but you also have the Calgary Flames with 20 and the Anaheim Ducks with 22 if a deal is going to happen during this off season I would not be completely surprised if it was to one of those teams mentioned I would not be completely shocked if the Blue Jackets hold on to line a and decide to say hey just stay here be a good soldier and maybe something can materialize during the season or maybe things change who knows do I think Patrick l would be a good addition to a cup Contender type team absolutely he does bring value if you have a strong locker room and a positive locker room overall he’s a talented player that I feel you could get a lot out of but I’d like to know your thoughts Down Below in the comment section where do you believe Patrick Lon will be dealt to and what would you want to see as a return if you’re the Columbus Blue Jackets I’m captain Paul I’ll see you in the next one

Patrik Laine and the Columbus Blue Jackets are looking to find Laine a fresh start elsewhere. Where will Patrik Laine be traded to? What do you believe the return should be?

  1. One of my worst takes in the past decade was thinking laine was going to be a better pickup than Matthew’s ☠️☠️☠️ in reality I was just coping as a Boston fan that Toronto got Matthew’s

  2. I don't know where but I'd love to with the Habs but only if Laine is a team player and would take on the role of playing with Dach and possibly Demidov. We'd have two very strong offensive lines, with Caufield Suzuki Slafkosky. Those six would be interchangeable on the power play. THE CH would be a powerhouse on the attack.

  3. If Columbus retains half his contract the Laine is a great pick up for most teams. His ceiling is way above a 4.35 cap hit and you’re only on the hook for two years. If he doesn’t work out it’s not gonna break a team.

  4. The real conundrum is what the Jackets want for him and who actually has those assets to spare.

Columbus doesn't need prospects or draft picks, as they have more than enough futures already. This might rule out a lot of the bottom feeder teams, who are in a similar situation with similar needs (lots of prospects, not enough veterans to shelter and mentor them).

  5. Nowhere. Hes career is pretty much over, hasnt offered anything for years. 30-50 points is his ceiling he can get with elite center playmaker but his playing tells me hes more like 3-4 liner so he wont get those minutes
