been enjoying the heat if you’re in the Portland area um is did I say Monday night it’s a Thursday night Eric it’s not a Monday did I say Monday I don’t know it’s been a long day for me but luckily the heat in the Portland area is over and the heat is going to turn on down Las Vegas with summer league right around the corner we’re going to preview that we’re also going to talk about the Blazers doing something Eric they made a signing Round of Applause Joe Cronin made a signing in July very impressed uh we’re going to talk about Bryce McGowan’s the Blazers newest acquisition we’re going to talk about Jeremy Grant and the Lakers supposedly not being willing to give up not to first but apparently not even a single first and then are the Blazers done making moves we even give some life advice cuz this should be a pretty laid-back chill stream should be a shorter stream you know you never know with us but should be a shorter stream today Eric how’s your Thursday going it’s going all right uh how about you man it’s uh it’s been a busy day busy day um you can always tell if I’ve had a busy day by if I know what day it is because if I don’t know what day it is if I don’t know whether it’s Monday or Thursday in the intro that’s how you know but happy to sit down relax talk some Blazers and stream tonight chat how’s your day been let me know in the live chat looking forward to talking about a couple different things here Eric you played wreck tonight you sound like sore Eric’s like I got a stretch and then made grunting noises before we went live here are you okay no I’m just my body’s falling apart so don’t mind me yeah man my uh my my ankle’s been rough lately you know the ankle that I turned 10 months ago still not okay so we’re out here struggling I can’t hear you you can’t hear me H all right Skype is being weird chat am I good my mic’s been having issues been been the whole been everything um but no my uh my legs uh stiffen up and uh My Butt Talks get sore every time I play basketball now and uh yeah so it’s kind of painful to sit here sometimes if only you’d stop using your ass to back people down on the Block then maybe it wouldn’t be sore yeah maybe anyway glad you can hear me now I don’t know I don’t know what’s going on but let’s talk about the Blazer new was signing they actually did something they signed Bryce McGaw to a 28 and Eric I’ll just say this I like the signing better than the uh Justin manah signing to the 2way you know Bryce mcowan drafted out of the University of Nebraska a couple years ago spent a couple Seasons with the Charlotte Hornets and they cut him and they just outright cut him recently and the Blazers pick him up on a two-way I mean this is a pretty good player to have on a two-way although I don’t really know if like yeah has any chance of factoring into the Blazers future plans at the same time even if he does play well in summer league because I assume he’s playing in summer league as well as uh the G League what were your thoughts on the signing uh I had two distinct thoughts um and this isn’t some people are going to take this as a bad thing I don’t I’m not like saying it as a bad thing but uh my initial thought was good job this is uh this is the type of two-way we need not just a manah um so yeah I was happy we actually signed a younger player that had gotten Cut Loose by another team and still Maybe has some upside um but my second thought was don’t we already have Delano Banton on this team like he’s in my mind Bryce mcowens is like the exact same player as Delo bton I think I think there’s some similarities let me pull up his stats um he’s shorter than Banton pretty skinny like Banton uh Score first type of player and the hope is he can be more of a point forward I just don’t know if he’ll ever even Embrace that role mcgaw’s over his two seasons with Charlotte played in 105 games 60 Minutes a game averaged Five Points two rebounds one assists shot 48% from two 33% from three that’s been the struggle with him is he just has not hit threes well enough um he’s he’s a he’s a decent athlete but not like Blow by speed athlete so that combined with he’s not the strongest player makes it hard for him to get downhill especially if Defenders don’t really respect his three-point shot it’s kind of some of the same things that we talked about with Delano Banton on postgame shows last year if he can improve his jumper then he’s a guy that has three level scoring ability just not really a a make a play for somebody else type of guy or defensive type of player which listen like that’s what we’ve kind of been looking for but the calculus has kind of changed you brought the Blazers brought in two front Court players that can defend and can pass so maybe a guy like Bryce McGowan’s if he can develop on a two-way could factor in is like a microwave bench scorer Fringe rotation guy that can come in and get you a bucket because ultimately the offense right now for the Blazers is actually worse than the defense and we’re just not used to that so still 21 years of age turns 22 on November 8th and he’s uh listed at 6’7 I’ll look up his combine measurement cuz I don’t remember him measuring that well uh it was like right around 66 with a 68 weing span 78 and a half or something reach 78 and a half he has a 7 fo eight standing reach or uh 8 fo seven and a half standing reach yeah that’s what I yeah yeah yeah yeah okay that makes more sense I was like 8 fo seven and a half sorry yeah yeah yeah trust me I’m must as a standing reach Merchant I know when a standing reach is off 6′ five without shoes though the 6′ s Eric definitely ere exaggerated yeah shout out to 42 tribes $5 donation with the keep it up sticker thanks tribes appreciate you um arer ask what your standing reaches to make it about you Tori oh is that why you got quiet um I’m not going to answer that Arrow I’m not going to make it about me stop trying to make it about me wow wow yeah maybe maybe you can come measure it at our next pickup run because you know I I don’t know if you hoop or anything maybe you can bring a tape measure I thought you were going to invite Arrow to your house no I ain’t inviting Arrow to my house he hangs out on on uh Rip City Reddit so I you know little scary inviting him to my house but uh yeah uh mcw’s I mean there’s there’s really not a ton to say do you know if he’s gonna play in Summer League yeah he is okay cool I mean he’s ini on Charlotte’s summer league team I think he had played even a game with them um but points he’s expected to join our summer league team so starting lineup we’ll segue this Eric into talking about summer league starting line up has Macwan ruper Chris Murray Donovan kingan who’s the fifth starter manah probably so repair is going to be the starting point then I know they said he was going to play some point for it I just didn’t know if they were going to start him at Point yeah actually think they’ll start a guard who else do we have tur cavion Smith nobody’s going to shoot the ball though if you have Tavon Smith and Bryce McGowan’s out there together man yeah maybe it’s going to be like those g-league guards that just dominate the ball and shoot 20 times a game it’s possible the first game they just have mown come off the bench yeah yeah we’ll see uh what are you looking for most out of Summer League uh well obviously I want to see cling in um see how he looks in a different type of system and then I want to see uh well I mean since no one else of relevance is really playing that is like for sure a rotation player um it’s just hoping you see some development out of guys like repair and uh Chris Murray and stuff like that yeah not expecting a whole lot though da ofan clinging 3es has been a big storyline uh since the day that we announced um with chony talking about him shooting the ball really well in workouts and King’s talking about space in the floor some of it’s with his passing but some of it’s with his shot so can he actually shoot the ball from the NBA three-point line If he if he hits some threes it’s going to be pretty exciting uh that’s something that I’m hoping for it’s summer league might as well shoot like three four times a game every time he’s open from the AR ER I want him to shoot like let’s just find out it might be very ugly and if it’s very ugly then okay go to the season yeah maybe that’s not his shot yet but like let’s at least find out that’s kind of what summer league is for experimenting with that type of stuff well they have shown a couple of practice footage footage videos with uh him shooting outside jumpers I don’t know if it’s quite a three because you can’t see his feet but uh they made a point to put that on there yeah I never thought his form looked particularly bad but you know shooting form is and everything we know that some of the best Shooters had ugly forms and some of there’s been players that have beautiful shooting strokes and they can’t hit anything the victor claves of the world so clinging hitting threes something I’m looking for Chris Murray hitting threes I mean he just shot the ball abysmally bad last season 27 hits if he shoots well in summer league for five games are you really going to take anything from that you’re not going to take much from it but like it’s a good sign if he comes out shooting 27% it’s like oh it looks like last year like I at least want him to to hopefully look a little bit more confident shooting the three um I don’t know but confidence didn’t seem to be his issue Eric so I don’t know what his issue was last year but hopefully he just looks better shooting the three ball because last year was brutal yeah he’s like a weird summer league player so I’m not even that excited to watch play cuz he just he’s one of those guys who if he’s the best version of himself he’s just like a do a little bit of everything type role player not someone who stands out or is super exciting or anything so um yeah unfortunately between him and manah um I’m glad they got mcgaw’s now to at least look at someone and then we do still have an open roster spot uh on a two-way so maybe you know we can watch a GU Tav on Smith or someone um that maybe the discussion is who who from our summerly team should earn that last two-way spot if any yeah yeah 100% And then listen if Ryan repair plays well it could create conversation about uh maybe he should be ahead of thyow and Banton for me at least as a repair fan because as a rookie like I didn’t expect anything out of him over the first two three seasons of his career like you’re drafted repair to develop him over two three seasons and then maybe you have somebody that can be in the rotation he’s a second round pick uh he surpassed my expectations as a rookie but not to the point where like my expectations longterm are all that different if that makes sense uh he’s just he was just a little bit ahead of where I thought he’d be as a rookie but he has to build on that essentially he still has to build on that he has to develop over the next couple of years in order to stick in the NBA or be more than just like an end of a roster type of guy so where does he need to grow he needs to become stronger he looks a little stronger just seeing some of the workout Clips practice Clips pictures Etc okay that’s a good thing but he has to play Stronger like he has to drive stronger um his balance last year was a an issue so hopefully he has more cor strength and then ultimately he struggled driving to the rim he got a ton of shots blocked last year when he played at the NBA level so is he a little craftier getting shots off around the rim like is he getting blocked at the same rate hopefully he’s worked on things with his dribble drive game to be able to actually beat shot blockers at The Rim he has super long arms and good touch on some finishes so I think he’s very capable of becoming like a crafty below the rim like extended finishes type of of finisher in the paint he just has some work to do and last year made that evident so if we can see signs of that on top of the ball handling ability that I think he already has like is he actually able to to create advantages uh create legitimate space get downhill beat guys off the dribble that’s what I’m looking for from him cuz it’s like I think he’s capable of a lot of things I just don’t know exactly where he’s at um because we haven’t seen him for 3 months and he is a hard worker he’s a really hard worker that’s what people say about him so I expect him to be improved how improved will he be is is going to be something to see but if he’s much improved like in a rebuild he’s what 20 years old Eric he’s uh he has a chance I think to maybe give himself a uh I don’t know I feel like they’ve penciled him in is like he’s not going to play at all next year until they tank or until they get injured but I’m hoping he opens some eyes gives himself a chance going into next season um I’ll be right back hold on sorry all good all good chat what do you think of repair what are you looking for from repair let me know in the live chat don’t ask me what I’m looking for from manah I mean he’s going to hustle uh and play some defense kind of everybody else on the roster not really looking for much uh kingan can he defend in space against a better guards than College guards like we we don’t really know what kingan is at the NBA level in terms of Defending in space in terms of a three-point shooter we know he’s going to block shots at The Rim we know he’s going to be a good drop Defender we know he can pass it’s just can he actually space his game on both sides of the floor can he play in space on defense and can he hit threes on offense ultimately like I don’t expect that to quite be there yet hopefully long term he’s a guy that can do both cuz then he’s just a well rounded traditional big that doesn’t really have the weaknesses that most traditional bigs have if he can defend in space that’s the Hope um Chris Murray also said he’s in good shape he added five to 10 good pounds of muscle but is also leaner so we’ll see if he looks a little quicker maybe off the dribble maybe he can uh you know string together at dribble move maybe I’m getting a little bit ahead of myself but you know just new things from these players this what summer league is for summer league is for players to a experiment with things that they’ve been working on that they would not get a chance to experiment on in NBA games B it’s to learn what they need to work on between now and the start of the regular season and C it’s just a a good time for teams to get a feel for what they have with players young players going into next season as a whole um Donovan kingan you know will get to see him at the highest level he’s ever played at it’s not NBA level but it’s higher than college level even though he played at a really high level in college Yukon was phenomenal it’s actually interesting to think about how how well would Yukon do their championship team last year or the year before how good would that team do in summer league because that team is is getting crushed at the NBA level but the Su League I don’t know like I think they could maybe win a game with how well coached they are how well they play together kind of an interesting debate um let me know what your thoughts are in the live chat Blazer fan says don’t hate on Murray listen I’ve been very critical of the draft pick of Chris Murray but it is what it is he has to improve his three-point shot he cannot be a rotation player if he does not shoot 35 3 6% from three in my opinion he has to improve his shot it’s literally that simple so I’m not going to overreact to if he shoots really well or struggles from three if he struggles from three in summer league is kind of just the status quo hopefully he can improve if he hits threes then May hopefully it’s a sign because that’s the big thing with chrismer he has to knock down threes I don’t even really care about him showing me anything else welcome back Eric thoughts on I don’t know I’m so frustrated why is that my mom came to pick up the kids and she could barely walk she said she fell earlier today heard her back had a huge lump on her head that has gone away oh no and is refusing to go to the doctor cuz she’s stubborn and all this stuff and I’m just like Mom what if chat tells her to go to the doctor well she list well hopefully she watches this again but yeah I mean Charlene go to the doctor there I got you thank you H that sucks so so yeah cuz like I mean she’s she turned 74 this year like you that’s the age where if you have a fall like that can lead to something uh you know bad especially if you had a bump on your head yeah yeah you’re going to have to All Right Stuff her in the minivan and uh take her down to the hospital against her will man sorry I had to go yell at her to go to the freaking doctor at least she has like one of her friends was her doctor for a long time he’s retired but I was like at least call him and tell him what happened Jesus yeah yeah um oh anyway sorry it’s all good it’s all good it’s all good I bowed out when you’re talking about ruper uh I I really want him to show one of the things that really stood out was his lack of experience and I think that leads to um I I don’t call it like bad basketball IQ it’s just he just doesn’t know how to do stuff yet and I feel like he got himself into trouble a lot that’s why he got blocked a lot around the rim he just didn’t know like when was the right time to attack and shoot when was the right time to kick it out from those positions um and so like I’m looking at more sorry go ahead I was just gonna say you know what I think that is is just he’s trying to do stuff that worked at lower levels doesn’t work out the L yeah right you know you come up in a place where you know well I mean obviously France is booming as a basketball power now but like um you know you have advantages when you’re that athletic and and uh have those kind of measurables um but yeah he’s he can’t get away with doing that kind of stuff long term in the NBA so I’m I’m looking for him to be smarter about his decision making and his basketball and stuff like that hopefully over time is that that was one of the reasons why I didn’t think he’d be ready to play for a couple years is just because it seemed like he was far away from that now if he hits the three consistently better than like Chris Murray and thel and those kind of guys um I I think he could surpass them even without doing much else uh just because um that can open up your game and you can attack Closeouts and stuff even without that but um I think uh I think he just really needs to to get a better understanding of how to play the game instead of just playing it if that makes sense yeah yeah I feel that well um I think that’s pretty much it on summer league you know we don’t have as many intriguing players playing this year if only we used our second round pick ERC I know y I mean I know you’re going to be watching a ch ch harder than maybe harder than the Blazers sub so I mean I mean like yeah I repair is a it’s cuz like I mean we always bring up the example of Batum not looking good in summer league but then looking fine in the NB actual games yeah um so like if repair is like bad or whatever like it’s not necessarily the end of the world because he’s a somewhere type player to Batum um so like I don’t know but like same thing with clinging man like I don’t know if like you’re really going to get that much from Summer League outside of like you mentioned the the three-point shot looking good or whatever um I mean we know he’s going to set some good screens and he’s going to protect the rim and uh show us some he’s going to play like winning type basketball but do we really have the team to to win Summer League this year I don’t know maybe Bryce mcgowens helps a little bit in that regard but I don’t like you look at some of these other teams summer league rosters I don’t think we’re going to be competing for another summer league title like we have in the past um so yeah just it’s just kind of weird I am more excited about watching other teams than I am the Blazers this summer league you know when Toronto plays you know when they tip off uh I do not 30 minutes before the Blazers on Saturday oh great yeah so we’ll see because we’re gonna stream it we’ll see if we have your attention though at half time we can switch over to that game well we don’t know if it if both games are on TV or not I mean are all games like NBA TV or something I don’t think they all are anymore um but I think most of them are I’m sure the Blazers are going to the Blazer Spurs game is going to be the game that’s televised yeah hopefully you would think it’s castle and kingan yeah two teammates last year against each other so yeah we’ll stream it um um the Blazers then play the Wizards on July 16th that game will be going on at the same time as 76ers Timberwolves which is Jared McCain vers Rob Dillingham which intriguing matchup the Blazers then play on oh no they play the 15th before that they play the 76ers so uh the other game on during that time is Mavs Grizzlies so that’s what Ed vers Melvin aens we’ll see right that’s who the facks drapped yeah who knows if he’d even play so I think the Blazers games will be are more likely to be televised if they’re televising one at a time at least so we should be good yeah so uh I see Bruce asking in chat uh 5:30 right Saturday night we’ll be live just talking about the game as it happens the game starts at 6 6′ so we’ll go live like 5:50 don’t care to go find it but basically I saw a report today that uh the Lakers aren’t even willing to give up one single first for Jeremy Grant Eric cap or No Cap uh I mean I think what this is is them trying to make excuses for not being able to get a single transaction done how wait wait wait how though because they’re not willing to even trade a single first that just says they’re not willing to do anything yeah I think that’s what they’re they’re implying is that they’re not none of these guys are worth our assets so we’re just going to keep them all and not do anything I think that’s what they’re implying is that no one on the trade market currently we we’ll wait till someone becomes available that’s worth it I think the I just think it’s most C I think the report is just bogus like I don’t think you would have heard the reports of of the Lakers and Blazers talking if the Lakers never off a single first mhm I don’t think you would hear about it then I think it would have been hey we want Jeremy Grant okay well uh you know what are you trading for him because you know that’s how Cronin does things right what are you trading for him um we’ll give you seconds uh no no n we won’t take two seconds for him we need two first for him nah we’re not willing to trade a single first Cronin hangs up because apparently according to reports which they’re kind of finding this out Cronin is stubborn Eric with with his asking price for his assets half of me wants to clown him half of me just wants to be thankful that he grew because where was the stubbornness with the norm pal Roo trade or CJ trade when he could use the Lakers pick as a backup pick because the Pelicans were trying to trade a lottery pick for CJ McCollum I mean where’s the stubbornness then I don’t know but at least he’s being stubborn now I guess right yeah did you uh did you see that the Lakers added Moses Brown to their summer league Squad yeah we need to add a Blazer we’re going to add Moses Brown the worst one uh Lakers are a joke if they aren’t willing to give up a single first for Jeremy Grant uh I they’re not going to do a single thing huh I don’t know it this does this does seem like well they’re not accepting our one first round pick offer so we’re just going to act like we’re not even interested in them you know yeah I I don’t think A team’s going to trade two first for Jeremy at this point this that was Sam Amo not Anthony Irwin by the way who I didn’t say either of those names uh no I’m just saying like uh like we’ve been mostly talking about Anthony Irwin giving updates on this stuff but this is this is from an article by Ashish Mur was who he was quoting and that article is quoting Sha devony of Heavy Sports yeah I don’t know how I’m going to take a grain of salt with that one at least one grain maybe two yeah uh I did read something funny on uh Anthony Irwin’s page yeah um I just want to I think you’re going to kick out of this I always love the people who are like d you’re making stuff up you don’t have sources man uh and he says like dude if I was making stuff up don’t you think I’d make up more entertaining stuff than the Lakers don’t want to trade multiple first round picks for wend Carter Jr that’s funny that’s funny yeah Eric H it’s interesting yeah I’m trying to think of like what’s the most boring thing you’ve uh shared with us Intel wise what do you think is the most boring thing you’ve shared with us Intel wise um I don’t know because because it’ll be time to panic about gp2 is not boring that that’s interesting that’s fun right I would say that were just going to keep their pick but like I don’t that was interesting to me that they were doing that but yeah well they’re going to keep their pick and they’re going to lose D because of it yeah cam Johnson I guess yeah the cam Johnson one [Music] yeah anyway I don’t Eric like I am done with the offseason I have mentally checked out from the offseason in the past like five days yeah well it’s funny is you were so hyped about about what you were so hyped about the offseason Story I mean I I know they they got a couple good good players but like yeah yeah I mean I I don’t hate it I don’t think it was like a complete buzz kill or anything it’s just you go into it with like four veterans five veterans that you can trade and four draft picks and only two roster spots on the team change is is a little scarce in terms of uh turnover and a rebuild especially when you got some vets I mean so thel yeah like so weird like thel’s still on this freaking team why is bable on this team why is Australia doesn’t even want him why is he no offense no offense okay why is he here bro I just don’t get it man you got a million perimeter players you just brought in Bryce McGowan’s on a two-way you could have Justified bringing Bryce mcgallen in on a roster spot but no we got matis dble so are they going to play him next year like they’re going to start Denny at the three Jeremy at the four right and they’re going to have tamman is the backup what or do you think they to bring one of Denny and Jeremy Off the Bench I don’t know man I don’t have a good sense of what they’re going to do do they have a good sense of what they’re going to do I don’t know maybe that’s the problem uh yeah I mean obviously obviously aon’s going to start at Center most likely I’d be I’d be cuz I I think they will play aan and Clingan together some just no at the because you’re they’re going to play Jeremy like 35 minutes a game yeah so but like I don’t think there’s any way even if kingan outplays Aon in training camp I don’t think there’s any way they start they tell Aon their benching him for clinging like I just I cannot see that happening like that’s did you imagine aon’s all excited for some reason for Clingan to come in that he’s steals his job that would honestly that I am rooting for that more than anything I just want to see how Aon reacts to being a backup Pig behind a rookie can we just like trade him before we have to do that oh man I like you know what the most realistic trade I think foron is what’s that can you guess the destination chat try and guess the destination Eric try and guess the destination New Orleans I don’t know they have a tough time trading for now wow chat guessed it and you get okay okay I guess I’m not that big brand uh yeah I mean Ingram to a third team eighton to New Orleans and third team trades like one small asset to the Blazers and salary to the Blazers and picks to New Orleans that’s the only like realistic eighton trade I think that is even possible out there because who’s the starting center for New Orleans next year I don’t know right now is are they actually gonna start evees Missy they lost Cody zuller oh oh they signed Daniel TI that’s it’s kind of an undersiz Center yeah that’s going to be their starting center I meaner right now yeah I mean they got they got Daniel Tyson a rookie a raw rookie that wasn’t even a lottery pick they need a center right so no I know yeah we just we talked about this before they just have a tough time I mean if it’s part of an Ingram trade I guess but I don’t know it was like if Ingram comes our way right is what we discussed if our we were trying to figure out if it could work trading them both Jeremy and Ingram or and Aon weren’t we or someone else you were doing something weird because it it is very possible to just give them eight and Ingram goes somewhere else and then that team trades salary to us mhm and I think that makes sense for New Orleans next year they’d start deante CJ Murphy wait they who would they who would they bring Off the Bench in that scenario would they bring CJ Off the Bench and start Trey Murphy and Herb Jones or would they bring Trey Murphy or herb Jones Off the Bench I don’t know I think if they’re smart they CJ Off the Bench but uh I think they’re just going to run with herb and Trey Off the Bench well trading Ingram you to start one of them yeah so you don’t have a starting center you need to clear like minutes at the small forward position so you basically just you go probably CJ de deante right deante point guard yeah Trey SL herb Zion and Aon yeah and that lineup is more balanced and I could see like them being a team that like oh Aon might function well here playing off of Zion z can Rumble to the rim and Aon can hang out 15 ft away and when four people worried about Zion collapse at The Rim he can kick it back for an eight and 15 foot wide open fedway I I mean I I think I think New Orleans with iner him to a third team and taking taking on nton is like the best possible trade the Blazers could probably do with Aiden over the rest of his contract that’s just my gut feeling that’s like the most they could get asset wise out of it yeah maybe but um other than that like if if if the could the Kings Trade for Jeremy I feel like that’s the next destination after the Lakers well the Kings there were rumors that they were still interested in making another trade after they got D rozen but then it came out today that they were out on marketing and out on Ingram I think so I don’t know I maybe they’re not really looking that hard to make a big move stupid they another team that now that they made that D Roan trade they have a tough time matching salary as well yeah will the Blazers will the Blazers make a trade that’s my question I still think they have to right it just doesn’t make the roster doesn’t make any sense I can’t even do a chat pull but do you think they do or do you think they don’t I think even if it’s just like matis for an expiring with no assets in return I think they they still do something you matis for an I don’t even see how matis for an expiring what like someone who
