  1. Alright I’m gonna be real: I’m worried. Brock’s stuff has been down across the board since spring training. He got rocked to start the year in Down East, and this stint in Arizona isn’t helping the way they thought it would. His fastball is still sitting around 88-90. He’s still incredibly young, so I haven’t lost faith. However….this really just isn’t good

  2. With his velocity cratering I bet we’ll get a tweet soon where he’ll need TJ :/

  3. There is a real issue with our pitching development in this team/system. Our minor league pitching coaches need a REAL hard scrutinizing. We have drafted far too many high draft picks for almost all of them to fizzle out, or get traded away to be good somewhere else.

  4. On arm talent alone, many had Porter ranked #1 overall in the 2022 draft. He went to the Rangers in the 4th round mainly because his delivery is incredibly busy and likely not sustainable for consistency at the MLB level (he was asking too 10 bonus money, which made him even riskier).

The Rangers knew they’d need to revamp his mechanics completely for him to get a shot at being a starter. It’s clearly a work in progress – the velocity is a great indicator of that.

Just be patient. He might never pan out a starter, but an arm like his would be a valuable asset in the 9th in the not too distant future.
