Twins baseball considers direct-to-consumer streaming as Bally Sports blackout continues

St. Peter projects that in the future, alongside cable and satellite, a direct to consumer option will be available to fans for a monthly or seasonal fee. Other MLB markets have rolled out streaming options including Colorado (Rockies.TV), Arizona (Dbacks.TV) and San Diego (Padres.TV).

  1. Doesn’t matter to me. I’ll still watch all the games for free with my Onn streaming box from Walmart. $20 for it is cheaper than an streaming service.

  2. #HOLY SHIT, THEY’RE DOING THE THING THEY’VE SHOULD’VE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE?!

  3. Unfortunately it’s a broken record at this point. 1 year ago it was the exact same talking point and they still took the money over accessibility.

You can go all the way back to 2020 when Ballys got into a disagreement with streamers like YouTube TV and SlingTV where Ballys and the Twins apparently took the position that people would be fine dropping the streamers and going back to cable which was foolish. And now cable isn’t really an option either.

In the meantime people who are mildly interested don’t watch and people who care have found cheaper options. I’ve been using a VPN for 4 years and am unlikely to watch a different way in the future because their direct to consumer option will probably cost more than what I pay to have access to all games including the Twins.

  4. I don’t think the Twins have any idea how much revenue they’re burning because people are relegated to piracy

  5. Well he’s not blaming us yet for lack of engagement, that’s nice. Sure that will come next year to justify the next payroll reduction.

  6. Right as I begin sailing on sea No. 4 of the 7 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️
