[Alter] Mitch Marner is doing media rounds for his Marner Assist Foundation today, a great charity now in its 6th year. This year, though, has been quite different as far as interviews go. No #Leafs questions permitted.

  1. It kinda sucks that the trade narrative and outside noise has gotten so big that the guy can’t even do normal interviews with the media to promote his charity foundation.

  2. This thread is up for 30 minutes and there are already at least 6-7 comments that encapsulate exactly why they made that request. Too many people can’t separate the player from the person. There is a time and place for everything. If you think harassing him about his contract at a charity fundraiser is okay, you need to go touch grass.

  3. It’s not different. It’s the same as every time he does this event. I remember the year Campbell went to Edmonton, Marner was asked about it and his response was to look over at his PR rep and say: “I thought we were only supposed to talk about thr charity.”

There is nothing different about this year.

  4. So, Mitch, are you going to keep your charity going here, or start a new one when you get traded to Las Vegas?

  5. Man wants the focus on his charity and the work it does rather than him and his hockey team.

    r/Leafs – He’s a bitch

No wonder people hate playing here

  6. Part of me can’t wait for the regular season so that the focus can return to hockey instead of whether a player will or won’t be traded or sign an extension.

But this is Toronto, so the fans will be the same year-round.

  7. I mean it’s a charity event last thing he needs is media idiots asking about his future with the Leafs and if he’s considered waive his NMC.
