  1. Brewers doing everything they can to lose the division lead to the cardinals :/

  2. Paul Skenes is as good as advertised. It always sucks to lose a series at home.

  3. Shit plate discipline after the 5th cost them. Probably could’ve gotten Skenes out one inning earlier.

Not a good game to drop, but it is what it is.

  4. Further confirmation of my working theory that when you don’t score runs, you tend to lose.

  5. Feeling great seeing how the brewers competed vs a really tough team like the pirates at home.

    /S

  6. Skenes is really good. We really needed to score in the 8th though. We should have at least tied it going into the ninth. Shoutout Civale

  7. Skenes is possibly the best pitcher in the league but today was just awful. Team had like 20 strikeouts and he as no hit through 7. Embarrassing series loss at home

  8. Losing 1-0 to the best pitcher I’ve seen isn’t awful. 8th inning just left a sour taste

  9. It’s going to be so satisfying when we light up Skenes … at some point in his career.

  10. Everything was ass about that game besides Civale and the defense. Good to see Hudson bounce back. Some of the worst approaches I’ve seen this year offensively. I have no clue why you even give Sal an AB with Chourio available and you need a run. Sal has zero pop in his bat this year. Murph with some very questionable decisions late. At least give yourself a chance. Monasterio killed any possible momentum in this game with arguably the worst AB of the year. My kingdom for Joey Ortiz.

  11. While Skenes is great and those innings can be mostly written off the approach at the plate is becoming very concerning.

We had him at 63 pitches through 3, had we kept taking we could have him out after the 5th. Instead we get ultra aggressive and he gets 2 more innings extra because we made so many outs for him

And some days lately it really just looks like nobody did any pitcher scouting. Holderman through about a dozen pitches way outside and we swung at all of them

  12. Today was not the bullpen guys. The health of our pen is a problem but the fact that our offense can’t match a 1-run outing is very concerning. It’s not going to get any better than that from our starter and bullpen. We HAVE to score a run against a losing team if we want to even stand a chance at winning one playoff game. This is rediculous.

Guys, calculating ERA based on one game is very simple. It’s the amount of runs you give up. OUR PITCHING STAFF HAD A 1.00 ERA TODAY AND THIS OFFENSE ALLOWS OUR OPPONENT TO DO BETTER???

  13. Definitely a not unexpected outcome, Pirates and July are a bad combo

  14. Skenes is really good, but the bats failed to even attempt to work the count later in the game to get him out. He only threw 6 pitches in the 7th and probably only one of them would have been a strike if they didn’t swing.

  15. To think they Brewers both in games 1 and 3 did not get the double play ( the ball was hit for a double play ) and both times it resulted in what would become the winning runs.

Granted it turned very ugly on Wednesday after, but it is one of those “what if’s”.

the 3k’s in the inning 8 was not acceptable. First, keep the fucken bunt on instead of taking it off for the final strike. Mono is not talented enough at the plate to make such a quick adjustment. Wild Bill was trying to hit a HR… he was chasing those high and outside fast balls. Ya only needed to have the ball find grass and worse case we are tied. I knew after the failed bunt / strike out that the inning was over.

Still up by 6 wins vs the Cards…. but this is the typical pre all star break bullshit this team does every year… stumbles into it.

Fuck it see you all at the game tomorrow. This better not be another Trap series.

  16. Can we stop bunting please? Get a base hit and tie the game monastario! Completely deflated the rally and so often does. Frustrating

  17. It’s only one game but I honestly think the last 6 innings had the worst collective team at bats I’ve ever seen.

  18. Look I’m just going to go ahead and admit I enjoyed watching Skenes. Kid is good as hell. What I didn’t enjoy was him being that good against the Crew and no hitting them.

  19. It always seems that we play the Pirates right before the all star break and never do well. I’m actually not mad at this loss as I have been after other games. Gotta tip your hat to Skenes. And Civale. Just that one mistake.

  20. Remember the post that said Civale shouldn’t be allowed to pitch past the third inning?

  21. We got Skenes’d today but our division rivals will have to deal with him just as much as we will. Unless you’re the Pirates, in which case you have to deal with being the Pirates

  22. Eh, this was a very losable game. You’re gonna lose a lot of games no matter what, and getting your first look at a new starting pitcher who is obviously something special is an okay game to lose. It sucks not being able to plate a single run in two innings after the starter was pulled, but even the best teams on their best days go two innings without scoring. It happens all the time. I’m not bothered.
