time to welcome the Hornets first round pick sixth overall in the 2024 NBA draft tjan Salon here to the Hornet tcast tjan welcome thank you thank you thank you it’s it’s great to meet you and great to have you here obviously a lot of excitement going into the draft about you you were one of the big risers up the draft board and now you get drafted here by the Charlotte Hornets what does it mean to you to be in the NBA I’m very happy uh like you see I got SP smile and uh I’m just I’m just ready to play in NBA and and start my first game in SAR yeah you made quite the impression on the Hornets front office and the coaches with your work ethic what impression have you gotten so far here getting to meet them and know them a little bit here in Charlotte they are very honest with me uh we are on the same page we we want to to play Al play together um and it’s a I would say a new new new team I would say like uh the staff uh is different um we want the same thing we want to to breed something and uh have the best result possible after tell me about your game as as it sits right now you’ve played professionally in France for a couple of years and continue to grow your game by Leaps and Bounds what do you bring to the Charlotte Hornets um my energy my energy I play 1,00% uh in the courts uh so uh I will bring my energy like in defense and in offense uh I play hard um I will play strong uh the most possible possible and U after I will play my basketball I will I will still uh play in transition run the floor shoot shoot the ball at three and I prove to to to be dangerous everywhere put somebody up some dunk and have my teammate the most possible we saw a lot of dunks and a lot of smiles on your highlight reel so that’s fun to see uh you come from a a great basketball culture in France and there have been some great NBA players as well as just the growth of the game internationally I mean games are available to watch everywhere in the world is there anyone you’ve tried to model your game after or aspired to become like uh not really I want to to be tent uh I want to put my my print in in the game uh so uh I play like me just uh my work is sick uh I think it’s a it’ll be like Evan F hard worker and uh after you would see it you’re a young guy 18 years old youngest in the draft and now coming to play professionally in the US for the first time what are your early impressions of what your life is going to be like here in the US um I think it’s going to be a fast life uh a lot of travel a lot of game in one week so uh that is going to be uh for sure different but I’m going to be uh adap adapt my my situation how how I’m going to I’m going to live and uh after I will be ready we uh we got a little taste of your personality from some of the videos on draft night you got that initial call from ownership and the front office and they were welcoming you in and use the eye of the tiger quote what what are some of the things in terms of your personality that you’re looking forward to sharing here with the f in Charlotte um I would say U I’m kind and I smile every time so I will I will bring my smile and show my smile to to the fan and uh I they’re going to be hyped by my my play yeah we are very excited to see that indeed outside of basketball because we know the first thing you look for when you come to a new city is where’s the gym uh Hornets arena is being reimagined right now getting some work done on it but we promise we’ll find you some courts to play on and anticipation of the Season what are some other things that you like to do off the court outside of basketball uh I like to watch anime um play video game with my teammate why not uh I cook uh a lot and uh after that’s it take a nap sleep a lot and after it’s just the gym couple of things I want to touch on there one you like to cook what do you like to cook chicken I I love chicken that’s all my life fantastic uh video games your game of choice Marvel Spider-Man 2 very nice very nice and if you’re going to a restaurant what kind of food do you normally seek out uh back home in France and are you may be looking for here in Charlotte we can get our fans to send some recommendations your way I would say African food uh I love African food the chicken the rice iice uh yeah every every African food I would say I love I love everything yeah so I think that’s the the first thing uh I’m going to be uh I will attempt to to eat we can’t wait to see you on the court you’re going to wear number 31 can you tell us why that was the number you picked to wear here with the Charlotte Hornets same and last year and my sister and so I just continue the Legacy I would say and she’s a very accomplished basketball player in her own right you’re definitely going to make 31 famous here with the Charlotte Hornets what is one thing you’re most looking forward to about that first time you put the uniform on both in summer league as well as for the regular season here for the Charlotte Hornets um I would try to to play to play well for sure um maybe is I don’t know yet uh I’m not uh in my first game but uh I would like to to play well and after uh step by step uh be efficient for my teammate I know he going to be uh I think a little bit hard for me because uh it’s not the same than in France but uh I will adapt my play and uh step by step game by game uh be better and uh be efficient for my teammates my last question for you this is a prediction I’d like you to make how is your first basket going to go down here with the Charlotte Hornets do you think it’ll be a dunk a three what do you see in your mind when you think of your first NBA points I think it’s going to be a tree I love the tree yeah I love it too tjan Salon welcome to Charlotte welcome
