LB, DE Aaron Jones (1988-1992)

The Steelers selected Aaron Jones with their first-round pick in the 1988 NFL Draft out of Eastern Kentucky. In college, Jones was a I-AA First Team All-American and earned Ohio Valley Conference Honors in 1985 and 1987 and was chosen as the league’s 1987 DPOY.

Jones stayed in Pittsburgh for five seasons, starting in 22/70 games and combining for 114 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 1 interception and 2 fumble recoveries. After leaving the Steelers, he spent time with the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins before retiring after 1996.

After leaving the league, he owned his own business for several years and became the President of Excel Speed & Fitness Training LLC. He has also spent over two decades working with inner city kids in the Pop Warner League, helping 150-200 kids every year. In 2007, he was inducted into the EKU Athletics Hall of Fame. In an interview posted in 2022, he said, “Even today, the Steelers are still my number one team!”
