His hit tool was so low š seems like this or Montgomery wouldāve been wins. Sucks that the only thing wrong with this pick isnāt with the pick itself but the fact that Skenes will be nearly gone before heās up

6ā4ā 210 as a high school shortstop is a monster. Iām glad they went with upside/BPA instead of immediate need.
LOVE this pick!!! Huge upside, like Tatis Jr if it all comes together. Floor is an elite defender at SS/CF with the potential of 30/30 and a perennial All-Star!!! Premium athletes have been moving quickly lately and he has every chance to get here semi-quickly!!!

His writeup sounds like he will be the next Cole Tucker.
I donāt like it another prep guy, another middle infielder, probably wonāt be up for 3 or 4 years. This team needs to maximize the team with Skenes and letās be real thereās a better than good chance Skenes isnāt here when this kid comes up.
How the FUCK did he fall to 9?
I’m not a scout or anything but my yinzer fan opinion is I would have liked to see them take a college bat that could be MLB ready within 2-3 years. HS middle infielder with swing issues who also has back of the rotation potential is kind of the opposite of what I would have liked to see
What scares me with him is that his main problem is his bat. The one thing we have no track record of ever coaching up.
Will be interesting to compare Konnorās career with the SS from Wake Forest who was drafted right after him to the Nationals
I was hoping for Kurtz, but can’t deny the ceiling potential. I am glad they went highest ceiling pick over some of the leftover college bats.
I think he could be a good centerpiece in a trade to get us MLB ready guys for our current window
