Completely forgot I had this pennant until I was digging through some boxes at my parent’s house…

I also forgot the story behind it until I found it.

In 5th grade, 1996, we had a fun, albeit bold, assignment- we were supposed to pick one of our heroes and write a letter to them asking them a question and unashamedly requesting that they send us some kind of token, anything really. I think our teacher wanted us to learn to not be afraid to stand out or have high expectations, or something like that. So I wrote mine to the Cowboys. Our teacher helped each of us find the addresses to send our letters to and we excitedly mailed them off. I can’t remember exactly when in the school year it was, but it turned out that I was the only one in my class to receive anything back from whom I wrote to. I don’t think they sent a letter, but I was more than happy with this pennant signed by Jerry Jones and Barry Switzer.

The funny thing is, I didn’t care much for football at the time. But my stepdad was a HUGE Cowboys fan, as well as a great stepdad, and when I couldn’t come up with anyone to write to, he suggested his favorite team and it worked out alright!

I wanted to share it with people who could appreciate it, so here I am. I appreciate you all reading this silly little story
