on tonight’s episode of dolphins after dark it’s the triple threat and no I’m not talking about Shane Douglas Bam Bam Bigalow and Chris candido it’s me Neil and Jennifer as we discuss multiple things including are the players upset to a tongue of Loa hasn’t been extended yet I got some out of the left field questions for everyone and plus we will talk about the offense of line so we got a ton to is out of commission because her little one is dealing with some stuff so we wish her and Elanor the best Neil Jennifer there here with me I hope Neil liked my ECW reference if he got it I don’t know if he remembers back all the way back then course I do of course I do um so gentleman and well gentleman and lady we are now wow look at this nine what are we nine days away from the veterans reporting and then the players report this week um I just did my first um training camp preview video with Prospect profiles uh Patrick Paul Jaylen Wright and as well Malik Washington go check that out I dropped on Friday if you guys haven’t had a chance a lot of work went into that appreciate you guys for supporting so training Camp’s getting close rookies report this week I mean hey finally guys we might have you know some non- Tua stuff to and still there’s really no update regarding to his deal so I mean we’ll talk about that but um how you feeling only uh under under double digits away Neil from actually getting practice going here yeah man I I can’t wait for Dolphins football man so as soon as it gets started man any any taste of it is good right like I you know I I’m one of those guys at training camp like me what I want to get out of it is a healthy football team but I can’t sit there in lie and say that I don’t try to find a way to hit my phone and refresh and ractice reports you know all day long uh you know I I just I love Dolphins football so whenever they’re getting going um and with you I agree 100% it’s very quiet on the uh quarterback contract and it’s weird there’s no news good news I don’t know uh it’s just one of those things uh and real quick on on a serious note shout out to jacobe Jones his family man um awful passing for Kobe Jones man he for those who don’t know he was the wide receiver coach at the high school that I went to uh during Co and I sit on the board in like kind of a general manager uh capacity so had a lot of chance and a lot of interaction with Jobe Jones during those couple years man and that’s just at 40 years old to go away like that man that [ __ ] sucks uh I always thought that he was robbed of that Super Bowl MVP when the Ravens beat the 49ers he caught that long touchdown before the half and then started the second half with that kick return for a touchdown and you know for me the craziest play I’ve ever seen in NFL history was that catch against the Broncos beating Raheem Moore um but just tragic to see that man I hate to see that Jennifer how you doing um I’m doing okay yeah that was horrible news new was he your head coach no he was our wide receiver coach yeah he he did it for two years um and then he was a head he was a head coach at a school I I I I don’t know where he moved I think he moved back to the Texas area if I’m not mistaken but he was a hell of a nice guy large personality man really funny and I played receiver at that school so you know we had a lot of interaction and uh he it just man I I’m 41 years old man like that’s crazy to hear you know that’s just crazy to put that in perspective ah totally agree um I am doing all right I hope Britney’s do Britney and Elanor are doing okay that’s sad to hear poor kid give her a smooch for me Brit I know that you’re listening um but otherwise um good it’s hot as hell up here and but it was sunny all weekend so I’m not complaining um hold on yeah not to too much other news going on although oh I was gonna say reason I did I did watch your episode on Friday I thought it was great thanks I mean it’s always the ones that have the most work put into it and monetized no that no one watches it’s only watch it’s under 4,000 views so it’s Friday afternoon in the summer yeah yeah no it’s also because I mean you know um it’s it’s more of a like uh it’s not a gossipy topic right so it was good though it’s worth it yeah I would definitely take a peek if especially if people weren’t like um big into watching draft prospects or anything they’re really good little synopsis of like the the the strengths and weaknesses of everybody it was really good I appreciate you I’ll be doing chop and mo this week and if I’m at all motivated I’ll do Patrick McMorris but I doubt that one’s happening um okay so did we talk about the elephant in the room and the Matrix yesterday or no we leave that one alone oh my god oh X was wild the first time I’ve ever heard Jennifer believe in a conspiracy he was last night and you know I don’t believe in it are you you’re talking about the shooting yeah oh you know it’s just wild that we’re in listen I don’t care whether it’s Biden or it’s Trump it’s wild that we’re living in a time where that is happening that’s just that’s that’s what I’m saying you know 100% I’ll say this man for me like I don’t care I have my own political belief and that has nothing to do with any of this right I don’t care if it’s a republican a republican a Democrat you know a third party yeah if anyone is shooting at it’s just not good and I say was the most disgusting part was people like celebrating it or disappointed that he wasn’t dead to me was just absolutely insane and I in the history of images him pumping his fist yelling fight might have been I’ll be honest that’s probably the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in myti life like I was sitting there like oh my God it’s like Vince McMahon booked it you know what I mean like that’s what everyone’s saying it’s WWE Superstar no sells gunshot dude I like it was like that man like I I’ll be honest it’s like crazy but it it’s just it’s scary times man and I and I hate to say this but like it feels like we’re on the verge of of a civil war here and you know being kind to other people is free and you know what we’re not going to agree on everything that’s why what makes political beliefs involved do you believe if he would have been hit there would have been a civil war no one has no one has enough um no one can afford to take enough time off uh for a Civil War in this country I saw that tweet last night and I was like I was like this is the best tweet of the night like no one can get that much PTO well what what I what I’ll say though we can’t afford that here I I think for every action there’s an opposite and equal reaction though so I I don’t know if it’s a civil war but I think there’s a retaliation at some level the militias would have got time off that’s for sure no I know well and lost in it is that some innocent people lost their lives man that’s terrible you know what I mean like that’s what’s really UPS did you see the video of the guy who was uh who with the the shirt covered in blood who had to go work on the guy who got hit in the head or whatever he like said there he’s like there’s brain matter and and he was an ER do I think that guy was an ER doctor yeah just just and honestly like whatever your beliefs are I have my own beliefs you probably guess but um but just for the people who were there who just like were going with their family on a nice day to go you know whether to go like you know with their family yeah to Rally to to support what they believe in you know like and for it to end like that and for or for them to all be like traumatized now after it you know nuts um like a lot of our freaking students are in this country yeah the the next calendar the next calendar year here is going to be very wild interesting yet scary times I think for this country yeah it’s it was that was insane I mean and that’s just not the way like if you don’t like a candidate that’s not how’re go it yeah it’s not how they’re not supposed to reach office you know I mean I practically don’t like half the things that happen around me in my life right like literally there’s so many things like I sure as hell don’t like when my alarm clock goes off at 5:30 and I got to wake up and go to work like that’s not fun like but like I just think that like it’s crazy like I guess I was younger when a lot of this you know I I never remembered politics being so important and yet you know obviously they’re very important to how your comp your country’s run but like I don’t know why it just seems like everybody’s engaged in it now but like it’s I I hate it man it is my least favorite conversation because there’s there’s no the incident and not the politic aspect and that’s absolutely how it should be because we should be able to have a civil discussion about like is this Behavior normal is this like how we want to conduct ourselves as a society and it shouldn’t have anything to do with you can have your belief I can have my belief and we should be able to speak like adults about it you know what I mean right right just about like the way we’re going about it is absolutely insane yeah man I just think Life’s too short to have a lot of hate man and like you know I don’t care what freaking stressed to like it’s like everything is then such a high stress environment like you’re trying to like go celebrate your Democratic or you know your your your part of the democratic process and you and your family can get shot your kid goes you know just like just too much stress everywhere yeah yeah you don’t know when you’re ever you don’t know if you’ll ever find yourself in a scenario like that right like CU it doesn’t have to be just a political thing we’ve seen this stuff happen at movie theaters and stuff like that concerts man like there’s there’s so many like problems I like that I what really put into perspective me was all the way back when that Las Vegas guy knocked out that window and started picking off at the concert land like because I’ve been at those concerts and I’ve been way too many deep and not really had good control over myself and and how busy is the Los Vegas strip right you just oh my God looking at the lights it gets busy people just want to see the lights right scary it is so scary and even like I saw an interview where they were like was your first you know what’s the first thing you thought an assassination attempt or mass shooting and I’m like either one like the fact that like both of those are equally realistic is so sad yeah yeah yeah I mean we gotta be better the crazy thing to me though was like when you hear all the people that were describing what was going on who were in the audience like the response and the the the effort in response and the response time by the police was like right like you had you had people in the audience saw the shooter were was crawling and pointing him out and they said I guess there’s video of one of the police officers walk went up the ladder and the shooter pointed the rifle at him and he climbed back down so I I don’t know it just the response time was just was just wild it’s like when things happen it’s not like the movies right it’s like not like the movies when like you you got heroic split-second decisions happening at every turn you know you had a Heroes working on the guy who got hit in the crowd but for the most part you know we didn’t have a mcgyver in in the in the crowd stopping the the shooter yesterday it was wild wild wild wild man so anyways and obviously this is all happening and this climate is happening while the Dolphins have the best roster in 25 plus years so why would right um listen I wanted to you know we’ve talked about the contract a little bit first of all I want to add this I had an update on patreon a couple weeks ago that I was he hearing that uh Stephen Ross was liquidating some of his cash etc etc and now the Articles and everything the news has come out that he sold his um he sold his his stakes in real in uh what is it real related Rel and now he’s opening up related Ross or whatever um separate division so he is liquidating some cash and apparently he’s going to focus more on the Miami Dolphins and F1 I mean they are just the amount of money that property is worth at Hard Rock my God like he’s brilliant he’s a brilliant businessman well did you see what’s happening with cop America people were fighting to get into that yeah they delayed They delayed it right indefinitely or something did they they delay yeah well they just said like two minut or a few minutes ago it said it’s been delayed indefinitely I don’t know what that means but what I can tell you is that when I had the opportunity to buy like my season tickets which were Club level for like 200 bucks a piece or whatever it was I want to I want to go put my head in an oven right now for not having bought this because yeah because how worth the get in price for like the 300 were like two grand right and they were cheap they were relative and how much are your season tickets how much are your season tickets in general like the year they were a lot I’m I’m I’m no longer sitting in those seats well no what I’m saying is like how much would would that 2,000 have covered of your season of your season ticket how much if they were 2,000 there were two of them so no no no you said you would have bought the tickets and then you would have turned around and sold them for two grand right right but those were but that 2,000 price that this is me just listening to the radio in Miami they said they were like two grand for like the the 300s so these tickets would have been a lot probably more expensive than that so would they have paid off season tickets would they have paid off your season tickets they would have paid off the new season tickets that I that I got that are in hell I mean in hell they’re like five grand right like my 126 row five I think it’s like a little taxes no my other ones are more expensive um and then I I’ll say this though because I’ve had I’ve had dolphin SE season tickets and Ravens at the same same time but Jen I had the same problem you had for the Baltimore tickets I had the club level so when the Dolphins and Ravens played at the same time I it was hard to sell the club level because I think there were 300 bucks a pop oh face were like 450 right and and Ravens games Ravens games would sell out a lot too but you know it it was it was it was tough to deal with the tickets I I’ll say this the do the Dolphins experience is pretty cheap compared to a lot of professional football teams big says his were 4K two seats 100 section that’s that’s that’s like kind of what the what like my new ones are yeah but it’s so you would have paid off at least half of your one yeah I was so PTSD from trying to deal with the other ones that I was so annoyed and the fact that I did that for three years and bought four tickets to F1 each year and still haven’t gotten so much as a magnet from the Dolphins organization were you able to sell the F1 tickets I I bought them through my account for my friend like he he like I’ve got like super car nerd friends so they go they go to like Austin Montreal Miami they go everywhere for those are they expensive the F1 tickets they were like they’d be like 10 grand for four of them oh yeah and J going circles like nine something like that H dude I think it’s fun actually but I’ll say this Jen the the tickets though you’re that’s a week at Disney are you crazy yeah I know life’s expensive man like I’ll say this though like the Jets and the Ravens do something where they give you points based off of your tickets and your spend and then you can go use it at the pro shop and get like jerseys smart we don’t the the Dolphins don’t do that [ __ ] you get like a a pat on the back and a 20% increase like it it it’s like there is true and and it is in the last couple years versus so the first year that I ever did it was 200 and what what um what was the year when we were w whatever oh the cam camon year seven was that 2007 I think so so that was the first year I ever had season tickets to the Dolphins and I commuted from Baltimore to every I went to every game that season um and that was when Dante Co pepper was pointing to his knee and doing that and then we played the Cowboys and it was a Thunder game and then I missed my flight home and I it was miserable um that was a horrible year but we did beat the Ravens that was which was awesome but I I remember that I met friends down there and they went outside the stadium and they got tickets for the game for like 20 bucks each and went into the game and it was like holy [ __ ] you could get in there for pretty cheap and uh but you know it is what it is I like you know what you’re paying for like I I because I I get I [ __ ] about it too if the Dolphins win I I’ll pay 50 grand for the damn tickets I don’t you know if they’re winning it’s fun like if they lose then it’s like a [ __ ] waste of money so it’s like it all depends on the outcome of the games you know you’re either do you remember do you remember what the Raiders sent their season ticket holders on yeah that opened up with the lights nothing reason I’m telling you not a thing one year I got a poster that’s a lie one year I got a poster otherwise nothing and the dude even asked me hey what’s your address because we want to send you a a welcome package nothing like and my my um like one of my best friends was at Tampa season ticket holder she got like tons of crap you know like tons of stuff she won the lottery to go to the freaking Super Bowl in 20 20 like went to it saw Tom Brady like win the Super Bowl yeah not nothing zero nothing I’m like do you know there’s another 10 grand on my account for these stupid ass F1 tickets right I’m I’m gonna send you a name I’m gonna send you a name um I got a guy there and I I it worst case he’ll give you a hookup for upgrade for a game there we go I like that I’ll send you someone thank you thank thank all right so let’s get into it um I want to play this clip I’m play the audio Tyreek Hill was on ESPN and He was discussing tua’s contract and the reason why I bring this up is because I had someone text me about it so let me play this and then we will go over it we’re talking a little bit about your team and let’s talk about your quarterback because look he led the league in passing last year had over 4600 yards passing you look at other guys who’ve gotten a deal Lawrence has gotten already gotten a deal golf has gotten a deal in over 50 million a year he’s in the last year of his contract seems like there’s a stalemate on whether or not the criticism is whether or not Tua can stay healthy right is it valid that is not valid man you know what qb1 uh us like people got to understand like from from T’s development and where he’s come from and where he is now like that should speak volumes to a lot of people like a lot of people can say oh he has you know coach McDaniel calling plays oh he has XYZ receivers or he got all these Playmakers but at the end of the day you still got to get those Playmakers the ball you feel me you got to be able to you know you got to be able to prepare each and every week you know with the same mindset you know knowing that you got crazy defensive ends coming off the edge trying to take your head off you feel me so like there’s a lot that goes into it man and for people to like sit here and try to discredit to and say you know he’s not deserving of a contract is is it’s wild to me man cuz a lot of like a lot of guys on the team understands his value and understands you know that we need him like we need we we need his leadership we need you know his mindset like like the mindset that he brings into each and every week is there like it’s like it’s like Terminator almost man so I feel like he should be one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league you know obviously save some room for me but we going get into obviously that’s tremendous take all you want but save a little bit for me for me okay so this is why I had a a guy who’s been a dolphins fan he’s my friend he’s been a dolphins fan for you know well over 30 years 40 years okay and he hits me up and he says this he hits me up and he says bro that clip with Tyreek saying tuis should be one of the highest paid QBs and the team needs him is wild I don’t remember seeing players call out their organization like that before that’s probably not going to please the organization because it puts pressure on them this could get bad if they don’t get him taken care of before the season starts and I told him I said listen I’ve already reported that players are a little bit uneasy on the situation and then I thought about it I’m like you know what you’re right do you remember players going on national TV and calling out their organization for and saying hey my guy should be one of the highest paid in the league we need him blah blah blah blah blah like have you and I I know Tyreek he you know there’s a little honest and that selfishness there like you know once two is taken care of they can move on to uh tyre’s new money we’ll start with you Neil have you remembered like we we saw this at um OTAs when the players got in front of the camera them campaigning we saw Jaylen Ramsey make an Instagram post when they were golfing we now see Tyreek going on national TV and vouching for him to get paid do you remember a time with any franchise with with with a team campaigning for their guy to get paid this way and is it becoming evident to you that I don’t want to you you know you can wor are the players in your eyes getting a little upset that he’s not paid and there’s multiple factors in that they all know Conor Williams wanted to get paid last off season because of injury protection and he almost jeopardized his career and you can understand Conor Williams has probably had private conversations with the guys on the offense you know they all saw Christian Wilkins do what he was asked of show a bit of pass rushing tenacity show us you can be one of the better interior pass rushers will take care of you he did that they didn’t take care of him and on the flip side they’ve asked Tua stay healthy you know and produce and last year he stayed healthy and he led the league in passing and they haven’t take care taken care of him so it’s one thing when you don’t take care of a you know a defensive lineman who’s a leader that’s going to have guys side eyeing you but when you’re not willing to take care of your franchise quarterback right away that’s going to get a lot of people worried and not just for two and not getting paid they’re going to say well if they don’t take care of the franchise quarterback what are they going to do with me so what are your thoughts on this do you see the players that’s getting upset and do you remember a time when players were actively campaigning the way the way they are for Tua yeah first D I’ll tell you what that was a very well spoken segment with Ty Tyreek Hill like when he when he when he’s focused man he knows what he’s talking about right like he he does and I agree with him get to his deal done then then lock up Tyreek have a save a little bit for him so here here’s what I will say I have seen it once and it’s in recent memory and it’s a quarterback that is probably more loved by his teammates than anybody in football that’s Lamar Jackson like when he was going through his contract here I mean Ronnie Stanley literally grabbed him in the middle of a game on CBS and said Pay The Man like right when he was next to him on the sideline right so I I think that it’s it’s it’s important to see that because when you really are a leader of a football team then people care about your money right then people give a [ __ ] if you’re getting paid and going to be here and like I I agree with almost every word Tyreek said and you know I was getting some arguments because like you know I have people that are non- dolphin fans that text me and they say t uh Tua is mid you know that’s what you’ll hear a lot right and the Webster dictionary of mid is being the part in the middle or the midst what is that that’s 32 starting quarterbacks that’s 16 there’s no way at hell you could put a quarterback that ranks in the top five in every category at 16 right so he’s not mid I I I think the team believes in him and they want to make sure he gets his security and like it reminds me a lot of what we saw with Lamar Jackson and Baltimore and that’s awesome to see when your quarterback is getting that type of love from his teammates and in this case it just happens to be the best wide receiver in the world right like that’s who’s who’s capping there for Tua so I I I you know you you started the show with this I don’t know what the hell the holdup could be at this point I really don’t uh I know that there’s you know we’ve been saying for a month it could be F you know this objectives of the contract that’s a lot of time man like where come out and give us an update as as the club tell us where we are tell us what’s going on I going into the training camp blind does not sit well with me as a dolphins fan it doesn’t because you put a self-imposed deadline out there that you’d like to get this deal done with a quarterback maybe you didn’t give the time but you said you want to get this done you know if I have chores over the weekend and I say this is the list of chores I’m going to get done I’d get them done right let me ask you this Neil like I’ve heard McDaniel does not want to get involved in this he doesn’t want to pick sides because if he vouches for Greer two is g to feel like he’s against him if he vouches for Tua Greer is gonna feel like he’s against him but don’t you get think once training camp starts we’re gonna get to a point where McDaniel’s going to start vouching for Tua internally because he’s going to say you cannot let these I’ve got new weapons in obj right you know uh new linemen etc etc you cannot allow this to impact what I’m trying to do offensively and you can say what you want but having your 11on 11 reps being made the majority of them taken by Mike White and Skyler Thompson isn’t going to give you the best feel for this option for the the best field feel for this offense and I feel like it’s going to get to a point Neil where McDaniel’s going to step in say hey you got to take care of this guy because I need to get my [ __ ] right before we head into this season right I I’ll say this and this is the time of year where a lot of people are looking at the schedule they’re starting to see what their team looks like they’re projecting standings I will say this it is so hard for me to put a number of wins on this Dolphins team or a goal on this football team but I will say that if this contract is not done by week one in my opinion this Dolphins team will not reach its potential this year because this will be a dark cloud hanging over their head that is just the way I see it like when your most important player is going into the season in some type of limbo it he he’s human right he he’s not a superhero if your money is not right in your life put yourself in those shoes life’s not good your job’s not good when the money’s not right and that’s why I think it could be a major distraction if this contract’s not done they better be working overtime down there in Miami Chris Greer everybody should be figuring out a way to get this done and I could see Mike McDaniel taking a backseat to it because here’s the reality for him right if he doesn’t get involved and this team doesn’t hit its potential he can always say well I came in here and two was the quarterback let me go find my own guy it kind of gives him some of that security which I I think is kind of BU [ __ ] like you you you’re the one who said like feel your pulse and check your pulse the two and all that stuff when you’re coming in here I mean we we should all be all in this deal I look this I’m not gonna sh this deal should be done by now I don’t like that it’s not done I’m just gonna call it what it is I I’ve given them they’ve been at the doubt for a month and a half at this point I’m frustrated with the Miami Dolphins more so than Tua because we know what the market is we know where you have to put you know we know the price of admission here right we’re talking about season tickets and how expensive we know you know Jennifer knows that she’s going to stroke that check and what it costs and it still sucks to stroke the check but you do it right because that’s what the cost of emission is the Dolphins should do the same damn thing if they’re trying to sugarcoat this or undercut the Jared gof contract to Trevor L stop being stupid you haven’t had a good quarterback in 20 plus years between Marino and Tua except one year of Chad Pennington stop being cute and get this damn deal done the Dolphins have a franchise quarterback get this distraction of the way and let’s go win something like don’t be the offseason losers get this deal done let’s go win a playoff game and be on it pisses me off I’m sorry it makes me mad at this point I think we’re yeah I think now we’re get because it’s the dreams been realized this ain’t getting done before training camp opens up more more than likely clean it’s not yeah it’s definitely not yeah uh Jennifer what do you what do you think of this whole situation um and really like you know where do you stand with do you think the players are starting to get a little bothered or uneasy after what they saw happen to Christian Wilkins is now happening with the franchise quarterback because like I said then you turn you say well what about me who plays like you know guard what are they gonna think about me um well I mean that’s not a good example because they let Robert hunt walk but anyways what what are your what are your thoughts on this situation um I can so I I thought what Tyreek said um I agree with Neil like he actually made made a lot of sense and typically I I don’t really trust anything that Tyreek is saying in the media because we know he’s just kind of full of crap like says things and then literally like everyone’s like he’s just full but I thought he was being pretty sincere with that I did I genuinely thought that um I’m sure that people are getting frustrated on the team with the uh just the not knowing and the uncertainty because unlike guard or unlike defensive tackle and I’m not I’m not going to diminish the importance of those positions um especially considering you guys know my love for Christian Wilkins and how important I sincerely thought he was to the team as far as leadership um being an actual dog you know just amount of snaps he played and but I really saw him as like the leader of the defense despite maybe not being the most V veteran guy on the team and guys came to him his defense Armstead X they spoke up in training camp last season saying you need to get this deal done with him like we’re not going to win without him but that’s not the quarterback right and it’s not the quarterback of a team in an offensive system that is so predicated on timing and uh and you know um disguising things like this isn’t just a pocket quarterback who sits there and hangs out on behind a stalwart you know offensive line yeah and just and just Chucks the ball and has a rocket arm um or or can run a make plays and is you know I’m not I’m not saying a running back but you know what I mean but can make a ton of plays in a in a way with his legs that that doesn’t involve his other weapons to such a high degree and and such a orchestration of all of those weapons to include the offensive line at once order to make this run properly effectively and maximize its potential so for them to not have all these parts in place and for them to not be working together for as long as possible with both you know the line the weapons that already exist the new uh the new pieces that we brought in and the rookies is going to like there’s an exponential decrease in like how good this this offense is going to be um there’s like an inverse relationship between how good it’s going to be and how long you wait to start executing on that and I just think it’s stupid to to keep waiting like Neil said like there hasn’t been a franchise quarterback and whatever I I understand where there’s some hesitation and leverage on the Dolphins part to say well we don’t necessarily need to pay you like these guys because we saw it for one year right but also do you want to win yeah do you want to win do you want to maximize the value on all of your other Investments y yes or no and and there’s there’s there’s got to be a fair value in between there where you just get it done so I I apparently this isn’t getting done before training camp I think that you don’t just hurt Tua you end up hurting the entire offense which then hurts also the defense for how long those guys are going to be on the field right and we don’t have dudes who played here here and the fan base right because we all support this team like I like so for me the com we can all mutually agree the conversation we don’t want to be having next July is yeah man the Dolphins were a good football team at the end of the season it sucks they didn’t win the division because they got off to a slow start just imagine if Tua was practicing in 111s you know maybe he would have hit that throw to Odell NE I don’t think they Neil I don’t think they can afford to go all of training camp of him sitting out 11 there’s no way I think that’s I think that’s like that’s that’s impossible you might as well say we’re getting a new quarterback like or this season we’re throwing away so whether it is you you pay him more than you want to per season right now and limit the limit the years you know shorten the deal and make it fatter up front whatever it is like you might have to have kind of you might not be able to structure this deal in a way that other teams have structured their deals and you might have to concede some of that in the money that you give him now versus the guarantee later on and I’d be totally fine with that but but pay more now to see you know how you can maximize it and don’t leave yourself on the hook for as long later on maybe that’s the way to do it but I think that because of the unique set of circumstances that we have with you know just the history of the franchise an Tua his health and I’m not saying he’s going to continue to have health problems other quarterbacks have health problems I’m not saying that but I’m saying that is a point of Leverage for the Dolphins there it just is so maybe maybe you just figure out a way to maybe compensate more um in the more immediate term and and saying look this leaves us room to then if you do those things and you do if you prove us wrong on the things that we’re using as leverage points right now then we can up that crap in the future you know your next deal then we say all right you want more security we’re willing to give it to you look what we did with Howard we came back to the table right yeah and that’s a good reference that’s a great reference Jen on the on The Leverage for the Dolphins but what I have to say against the Dolphins is this they could pay any player after the third year of service for them right and I agree paying to it at that time was risky because of the injury history and everything like that yeah so burrow got paid Herbert got paid Herz got paid the Dolphins waited a whole year for twoa to get paid and I get that but the reality of the situation is by making that decision now they they had to get this deal done the longer they’ve taken to get this deal it’s cost them more and the way I look at this it’s kind of like athletes first is the federal government and I get my paycheck and they say here’s how we work this is the tax brackets this is what comes out of your check that’s the market right that’s the tax cut like they do the Dolphins know the cost of the quarterback position and it’s only going to get more expensive like you said they’re going to pay way more than they wanted to but they’re in this situation at least 50% of the way maybe more because of their own doing yeah it’s like it’s like you have to do this you like this isn’t Javon Holland this isn’t Christian Wilkins this is your franchise quarterback man like this is not the game they want to play not the game they want to play and you also then like like you then lose kind of the investment you put in paying all those other players or like Tyreek and Jaylen Wadd and whoever else by not maximizing you know by not like G maximizing the quarterback position and by that I just mean having them practice together for as long as possible be ready at the start a training camp have him mentally you’re right about when your money’s when your money you know your your mind’s on your money and it’s not in a good way right to not have him locked in fully from the start a camp it’s just I just think it’s it’s just diminishing returns especially if you know especially if they they know that they’re going to end up well how did they not have the smoke Trail listen this is what I I don’t this is what I keep coming back to how did you not have the smoke Trail on your ass to get in the office and get it done after golf when you started hearing the rumors about the cons willing to pay 50 plus million to Trevor Lawrence it should have been going off and your alarm should have been going off that oh my God they’re going to overpay this guy we got to get this taken care of and they just oh well let’s wait and see what happens now again could it athletes first sitting there saying yeah well we know athletes first basically held it off from the new year but we all know athletes first wanted when the golf deal was done athletes first started putting out stories to Jeremy Fowler because they wanted to get paid right away but then what happened they sat around on their hands and then Lawrence got paid and then now they put themselves in a position where the next three quarterbacks to affect the market significantly Jordan love Tu a tungo and Dak Prescott are already represented by who athletes first first now you screwed yourself cude and take a step further yeah take take this a step further because look I I always judge Life by don’t judge Life by The Journey I money is outrageous significantly over the next three years that they’re making more money right now the Steven Ross is making more money off the Miami Dolphins than he ever made off of them so the Rogers went down uh and played in amazing game um I I would say this like I I think if you look at the moves they made to solidify their offensive line Tyrone Smith misses as many or more games since Terron arms teron yeah John Simpson was the worst player on the Baltimore Ravens that started if you watch him against Chris Jones in that AFC Championship game it is like it’s like me going up against Aaron Donald like like that’s what it would look like and morg Morgan Moses played for the Jets three years ago and didn’t start then and he went to Baltimore the Ravens running game masked defic an offensive line like don’t get it twisted Lamar Jackson might not be able to pass the ball downfield but his ability to escape in the pocket and run makes offensive line look a lot better than they are right like the Raven said Let Me Go reverse of two his quick release makes our offensive line look better than it is like the Raven said let me go start Andrew Vorhees who we drafted in the seventh round see you John Simpson and Simpson and Moses didn’t get paid a lot of money mean you liked Vorhees before that injury I I did too and and look they got Hassan reic in a trade who I think I think he’s upgrade to Bryce Hoff I really do but there’s a huge contract no no and and I’ll be honest like I think they have a good defense I’m not going to take it away but we do a number on them mentions he would be technically he would be 14th over overall after not making it at all last year um teron Armstead he actually made um he made the rankings as well this year um and I believe if I remember correctly he was in the interior he was on the uh sorry honorable mentions let me just make sure yeah he was he was 13th um on honorable mentions um Robert hunt I saw you kind of tweeted out about it Neil I want to give you a chance to explain yourself sir um you kind of said that the Dolphins dodged a bullet in terms of not having to pay him um you know 20 million and Executives coaches and Scouts across the league ranked them again at like 14 um what where where your thought what’s your thought process on that yeah look I I think the Dolphins had such bad offensive line luck especially on the interior for so many years that they see a guy like Robert hunt and we we put him on a pedestal that frankly he doesn’t deserve to be on I think he was a very good Right Guard in this league I think he was really good as a dolphin for about a season and a half of his four years here and bad football teams play good players great money and for him to go and not even be a top 10 guard and this is just one ranking so it doesn’t mean anything but it kind of it means a little bit more than other rankings cuz it’s NFL coach which is exact in Scouts right right so like if you know the contract that Robert hunt got says he’s the best guard in football right yeah yeah yeah or one of at least so if he’s you know 12 13 14 on that list to me the Dolphins J bullet and I think it’s a lot different than actually the Christian Wilkins situation because I think we saw Elite level play from Christian Wilkins last year okay I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Elite level play for Robert H I think he’s a very good player um I I just think if you pay $20 million to a Right Guard who is viewed as a guy who’s not even a top 12 guard in this league it just seems like a move of desperation so you know I like Robert hunt I wanted he was my priority headed in the offseason once I saw that contract I waved the white flag and was like go have fun losing in Carolina for the next four years you probably won’t see year four of that deal what do you think Jennifer do you think they dodged a little bit of a bullet given what the consensus around the league is based on those rankings and how much Robert hunt actually got paid Jennifer’s muted I think she’s disappear no I’m here I’m here I’m here all right do you think that they dodged a bullet I mean they were never gonna pay him $20 of weird animals and they had a bunch of geese and like they had some owl that every night would just like chop the head off the geese or something yeah so owls are yeah they’re mean bastards I remember watching like a night vision uh yeah the little those little [Music] but I saw this night video it was these two birds and they were just chilling and like it was the middle of the night and one of the birds like woke up from sleep and started moving around and I guess the owl noticed the movement and it was across the field thing comes in swoops in and I get I think there were spouse birds like you know how some birds like boy and girl hang out and just swiped in one motion just boom grabbed that bird and then the other one wakes up and looks around is like looking around cuz his but like gone like owl in the middle of the night here and gone it was crazy just like I saw this video you know how Jennifer was it us we with Britney we were talking about pigeons I saw this video of this this Falcon was sitting in its nest like and just chilling on a couple of eggs a pigeon flies up and thinks it can walks into the nest and hang out with the Falcon and the Falcon like just messed that thing up like there’s flying everywhere like yeah I’ve seen that it’s ridiculous yo they’re they’re hoot hoot Neil hoot hoot hoot hoot we used to have a falcon like w we had a hockey team called the Springfield Falcons and there was like a falcon on a highrise around here and there was just a like a a live cam on the Falcon Nest constantly all the time that Falcon seem nice though I like birds I feel I feel bad for pigeons one when we first bought our house so it’s been eight do Britney Britney well so we were had and and one of the I looked on my deck one day and it was the middle of the day and there was a pigeon but it had like a tag on its thing so I don’t mess with birds I like that’s my phobia I I’ll fight snakes I’ll fight spiders my wife had a come out and read the tag and it had a number on it so wife had come out and read she called pigeon and I forget what they were they were called carrier pigeons or something I think yeah and and yeah so she called and the person said oh I’ll be over I’m about 45 minutes away don’t know how it got to your house well it was the night of Fourth of July and the person never showed the the darn thing was dead on our deck and had a heart attack I think because of the fireworks oh wow a I put water out there and like found what food and stuff like I tried but like what a fantastic way to bring down the the vibe Neil with I I I live in Baltimore man you go down in the city there’s dead pigeons everywhere yeah Darth caught an alligator before so speaking from personal experience I’d take an alligator all day over an anac Gators aren’t even that aggressive all right yeah CH chub chubs Peterson might disagree with you Ricky wants to know if you’re afraid of doves probably they’re just white pigeons Britney’s fighting the urge not to jump in right now and defend pigeons yes Britney has a pigeon thing I’m not exactly sure hey it’s it’s after dark man it doesn’t have to always be football yeah Jason I know you want me to bring up the breakfast sandwiches again I like that love this I will have you know that my great great-grandfather was a state ornithologist for Massachusetts and started the MTH chapter of the ottobon society and wrote this very like uh I don’t know these birds like these very like like the I don’t know series of books about birds so I will look and see um if there’s anything about pigeons so I can report back rats with wings basically I lived in New York for long enough those [ __ ] are nasty rats with wings and they they’ll come right up on your feet when you’re eating man they don’t care they have All Care remember you remember remember the three pigeons on Animaniacs back in the day you remember the Animaniacs cartoon and and they had the three pigeons that would always be hanging out hilarious um all right final thoughts Neil uh final thoughts before we get out here I mean I I kind of went a little into it earlier but man I like I get this deal done man like seriously like I’m so tired of getting on this show and talking about this damn contract I want to break it down and look at it for what it what it is not that it hasn’t happened yet like I I’m just getting like I I guess like not Tua said he was ansy yeah I’m antsy now too like I I don’t like that we’re we’re heading down the path that I think we could be and you know look the likelihood is this deal will get done and all this stress won’t be worth it but until that that’s what we do right so we stress so but I am I will say I’m excited to see this rookie class get there early uh I’ll I’ll be definitely watching and listening to see how Malik Washington’s doing I’m really excited to see him take the field here I think that’s I I think he’s going to be one of the three biggest deals in this entire draft Yeah Yeah Ricky my goat says how about Blue Jays the ironic thing is he’s afraid of birds but his favorite team is Orioles Blue Jays are the no Blue Jays are the biggest dicks in the bird Community I have a nest in my backyard a blue jay nest in my backyard I’ll tell you what they’re beautiful birds I I went to a school Cal Hall Cardinals high school so I like Cardinals um yeah I do too but Blue Jays are [ __ ] Blue Jays the blue jay out in our they’ll beat the [ __ ] out of the Cardinals in our front yard like I’ve seen it happen all the time all the time I had them fighting I had a blue jay like kill a bird against a window they’re real dicks final thoughts Jennifer now we’re dissing Birds no but it’s true blue jays are the castles of the bird Community there’s no doubt about it final thoughts Jen um yeah boyot Blue Jays yeah but yeah off the Blue Jays those uniforms those like baby blue uniforms back in the day were dope though I will give you that um I yeah everybody’s sick about talking about this contract I would rather crap on the contract when we get it and be mad about it just like Neil said and pick it apart and dissect it and or be really happy about it one way or another but like talking about a getting done like just get it done there’s there’s no other option at this point there literally is no other option so both of you need to concede you know and make some concessions meet in the freaking middle so that you can come to training camp um actually participate have peace of mind get ready you know and and and make this offense go as and be as efficient as like humanly possible and it’s like we had to start every other season with so much doubt at this position we now are here and it’s the one season we don’t have to start like with with a big why you know like it’s literally the first season last season we had to wonder what about the concussions is everything gonna be okay this is the first freaking season we can walk into it and go we we feel and now you guys are creating your own Nar and now you’re creating you’re creating a [ __ ] show that doesn’t need to happen true you know what I mean so I didn’t even think about it that way you’re right you know what I mean yeah so let’s just get it done make the concessions both of you need to make make it shorter than you want you know overpay at the beginning you know but each of you make a concession on each side because it’s the one time we’re walking in without doubts and and we can actually start and and make this thing go from day one agreed Hog Wild says Canadian geese are the biggest [ __ ] of any bird type for Canadians people to be friendly their bird counterparts and some real mother I’ll be honest with you geese are brutal like I I don’t like my
