The hockey world will never forget this moment

as we head into the final year of John tas’s contract that the lease will’ll probably be very very happy to get rid of I do think we should look back to a time where I think we all truly cared for the Toronto Captain in what may have been his darkest moment and honestly one of the darkest moments in NHL history the 2021 NHL playoffs was a playoffs like no other with the Toronto May beles taking the 56 game regular season as the top team in the North Division that was an all Canadian Division and with the top four teams of aning to the playoffs they would draw the Montreal Canadians who aided by 11 overtime losses took the final playoff spot over the Calgary of flames despite having less wins however despite the excitement of all those at home for this series there were no fans in the stands and maybe thankfully so especially for game one of this series which was a harrowing experience for everyone who watched this ear in the first period Taris was skating through the Canadian Zone when he was checked by Montreal defenseman Ben shat as shro finished his check Taris fell to the ice which left him in extremely vulnerable position at the same time Canadians forward Cory Perry was following through on the back check and unable to avoid contact with Taris Perry’s knee inadvertently struck Taris in the neck just as taras was falling resulting in a horrifying Collision I mean when you see your GM react like like this you know that this was pretty bad now while this incident was pretty terrible to witness live you got to hand it to the Medical Response Team for especially coming to tas’s Aid super quickly and stabilizing his head which as Dr Brian says here is an incredibly important thing to do to help Taris avoid further injury they’re trying the best they can I really think they did a great job in the circumstance of trying to stabilize that neck trying to stabilize him however I think we can all agree this was an extremely distressing scene to witness as Taris was visibly disoriented and you knew this injury was bad he spent several minutes on the ice before a stretcher was brought out to transport him to the hospital one thing that did give us relief though is Taris holding a thumbs up here as he left the ice assuring us that at least we avoided the worst yet it still was an incredibly sobering moment for what was supposed to be a huge playoff game between Canada’s two big rivals in Montreal and tto and Taris would end up missing a series that saw the Leafs lose in a very leafy way as they choked a 3 to1 lead against Montreal and they were left with a result that has been all too common throughout this era for the maple Le a first round playoff exit still I think that even though that’ll be remembered the injury to theis is something that still shakes fans to this very day and something that I think just goes to show you how dangerous Sports can be if you’re unlucky and you got to be glad that Tas even if you are a leas fan and frustrated with his declining production and high salary that has really given the leaf salary cap fits throughout the years you got to still be happy he’s still playing the game he loves at the highest level today after something happened to him like this over and out

The unique 2021 playoffs between the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs featured a tough to watch moment for John Tavares and we reflect more on it in this video. #hockey #nhl #torontomapleleafs
