Thats a huge difference in war for same ERA. How are the ERA+ and WAR so much different when ERA and ip are the same? Is the ballpark adjustment that different?

I’m just glad Skub got recognized. This asg exhibition shit show hasn’t been relevant since they took away home field WS advantage from the winning squad. Those games were exciting!
I’ve never given the slightest shit about the All-Star Game so part of me could not care less. But also this is just a patent outrage if true. Starting the game is a big honor and Skubal earned it to this point full stop. I don’t know how there can be any debate.
Verlander didn’t pitch in 2011 when he was neck-and-neck with Jered Weaver, the eventual starter, despite having a better career to that point.
Not too upset over it, would rather save those pitches for games that matter

Come on guys Burnes clearly deserves it. I mean he has 2.2 more innings pitched than Skubal for crying out loud! That’s the most important pitching statistic! In all seriousness it’s purely because the Orioles are much better than us and Burnes has had a better overall career. Has NOTHING to do with their 2024 seasons as pitchers
Could just be based on who’s more ready/available. Not saying Skubal isn’t, but I wouldn’t put too much thought into this.
I knew it wasn’t a guarantee that Skubal would start, but I really didn’t think it was going to be Burnes
