It’s not even close to the best era for defense men
Just casually snuck dougie Hamilton in there like no one would notice
Absolutely not. Early 2000’s defenseman were on another level
John Carlson united the seven kingdoms
Hell new jersey had 3 alone Steven’s neidermayer rafalski
Wow Duncan Kieth disrespect
Objectively I’d say no . Not sure if you’re a newer fan , like last 10 years but late 80s-early 00s was better. A lot of those greats like Maccinnis , pronger , lidstrom , Bourque , chelios , leetch , Coffey , Rob Blake , Stevens and niedermayer etc ..they all had staying power ..there’s some truly exceptional blue liners like karlsson and letang but others like klingberg had a couple of great years and faded . Imo guys like macavoy and fox haven’t done nearly enough to be in the Brian leetch and ray Bourque convos

no
How do you forget Tyler Myers
considering you’re missing Forsling, no
You could take 16 of the [top 50 from 96-97](https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/seasons/1996-97-nhl-defensemen-stats.html) and you’d have a more talented group.
[Or 97-98.](https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/seasons/1997-98-nhl-defensemen-stats.html)
Lidstrom, Coffey, Bourque, Leech, Housley, Pronger, MacInnes, Niedermeyer, Murphy, Chelios, etc all played in the same era
No. This is a great era for scoring defenseman, but overall I think the talent pool is weaker than other eras.
Yes, also forwards and goalies.
You got the wrong canes d-man up there
I wouldn’t have put Bouchard over Werenski, Rielly, Doughty, Morrissey, or Carlson.
Lol, you kids today.
lol what?? Do people who post this just live in “today”?
Definitely gotta change out Burns for Slavin
This is the definition of recency bias.
As a Canes Fan, remove Burns from the pic and add Slavin
Maybe pump the brakes on Bouchard for a hot minute before we throw him in with best in todays NhL
Gustav Forsling should be there. He’s a staple for the Panthers…
Wild that there are no Sens fans in here talking about Sanderson
Oh neat, someone actually remembered we/Dahlin exist!
Where’s Doughy though?

Make some room for THE BONE ZONE
Early 2000s was quite solid.
