runs tonight from the Los Angeles Dodgers he is tar Hernandez and his opponent with 37 home runs tonight from the Kansas City Royals Bobby W junor this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for ladies and gentlemen Baseball fans are you ready for the sold out thousands in attendance and the millions watching around the world ladies and Gentlemen let’s get ready to rumble Goosebumps solid I’m ready to go out there let’s go give me a round Michael Buffer still doing it he did where is he at Copa America last night yes why is he here to do that how about Bobby W Jun when he was standing right next to it wow this is cool guys is Bobby wh junor was waiting for that introduction and and Michael Buffer started with that famous voice BBY Junior turned toward his family in the stands like get a Lo of this can you believe it Michael Buffer Jr once came to the Bristol campus to do an ESPN commercial he was introducing the anchors as they walk through the lobby Larry f that must have been a really good day it was tremendous day and he set the stage for us what should be a phenomenal final tasar Hern and will swing first and then it’ll be Bobby wit J who will go and take a few swings so as we begin this final no Dodger has ever won the Derby no Royal has ever won the Derby little different rule here we’ve knocked a minute off the clock 2 minutes and 13 pitches 27 pitches 2 minutes in the final round you figure you get to a minute that’s where you’re about to call timeout like to have what five or six homers you would hope so like to see somebody go seven or eight in a row here he’s trying to go right where he was told go to that bull print spot it went right in there center field no good still has one another one towards that Bullpen and it is is over yes hooks one down the line enough lift no no but he’s going to get the bo oh yeah look at that that was a massive his third one was the longest one so far every he started the second round this way with that tow trap we wondered why he did it and worked well enough to get him into the final after a swing off with foam yeah but this time he’s not tapping it’s just going back and then right back to that spot there you go four homers a minute to go roughly 57 seconds and about half your pitches left see him he just whistled to teosa Hernandez and he is literally pointing to that Bullpen and left center field yeah got guys I just talked to blatty Jr and I asked him so what do you think you got under a minute to go he said he’s going to go off right now all right and and that’s pretty cool but he made sure after he told him that you better go hit hit it to the B P when you go off go off over there he’s too tired to go to home plate he’s he’s pointing now listen I’ve been there six times already today come on man and don’t listen to class now either I’m sick of telling you let’s go another he’s two for two out of the gate and they have been blast this one is high really high and looks like it’s not going to be enough oh that one is wowy blatty knew something four homers five swings oh five and six swings better have a doggy bag for that better pick those up plenty of time here oh my oh yeah he’s got group this was the best one so far and it didn’t disappoint these balls were launched and they’re not coming back what a monster roundo so smooth tell you what you catch your second win look he do is let that happen and remember what Junior told us Ken griffy Jr he said he wanted in Pittsburgh the most memorable one because he was born 30 minutes away yeah Bobby Wood Jr has all of his family here Tay Oscar Hernandez put on a show here in Arlington high fives all around for that guy say Oscar Hernandez a phenomenal KN desperately wanted in on this Home Run Derby he got the invitation he announced his participation on Sunday Night Baseball and now it all on the shoulders of this kid Bobby witch Jr who played his high school ball at cville Heritage High about 20 miles away from here the Gatorade National player of the year for a state championship team that played some postseason games right here at Globe Life Field 2 minutes 27 pitches hooking foul praise you were in this exact spot you had a hit 14 at Tai jock Peterson exactly the number he needs what do you remember about that night I remember I had four minutes and guess what I had as many balls as I needed in those four minutes minutes so he doesn’t have many and he needs to get going there’s one right there and he’s got to understand something he has the bonus round so find a way to get in double oh boy smacks that one for number two there looks like number three to left field needs it yeah well he’s getting the LIF exactly what he needs now he’s got to keep it fair and it’s on James Russell as well to be able to provide the perfect pitches he calls timeout and he has just hit his fourth so he needs 10 to tie you like the time out you like where he’s at I did like it I like I’m in between because you don’t know how he’s feeling right now so that’s the biggest part felt like he needed to slow down and he called the timeout the Bobby Wht Jun family as he said a huge crowd just over our shoulder down the first Baseline cheering him on reaches out and did he get that one to go five he’s got five needs to get to 11 I believe double digits ah been in this position as a high school player a little different as far as the number of people than the pressure that one’s got a chance that’s just his strength right there as he bullied that one out there’s another that’s going out oh that was far your 2024 T-Mobile Home Run Derby champ it was up there for ever and came up just short what a show Bobby wit Jr and toosa Hernandez put on in this final round just just missed wow mama got her got her a pair of new shoes right there with that one maybe a new car we don’t know just missed it it looked like couple feet he just needed 410 the biggest part of the park and everybody held their breath C except you you were screaming Eduardo was screaming everyone else including Whit Jr held their breath that was awesome for a guy that’s wanted to do this for years to be able to win it man good for tcar Hernandez right that was your pick remember you said him at one point Buster talked me out of it first Dodger player to win the Derby take a look at wit Jr anything he can to get this thing to go this is talking to the baseball I he’s trying to push it out too here at the end oh yeah go come on come on oh man man what a great look he hit it 409 oh man what a great look that was Alec B all over again the images of these guys faces watching those balls to center field a few feet shy of matching to Oscar Hernandez the 2024 Home Run Derby Champion what a phenomenal effort Alden you have the champion with you hey to Oscar what was going through your mind watching uh Bobby Wood Jr come within inches of tying you with this final out I mean I was uh getting pressure I’m going to be honest uh when he got two two out left he got 13 one shot of me I was getting pressure but he missed the the first one and then I was hoping he can miss the second one one so he did you told me before this that you don’t like hitting home runs during pregame batting practice now you are the Home Run dur be Champion how did you pull this off man this is amazing man uh everything that I feeling right now is uh there’s no War I can describe what I’m feeling in front of my family in front of every everybody that is here you’re the seventh Dominican in history to win the Home Run Derby you’re following valir Guero Jr last year what does that mean to you it means a lot man uh I’m so grateful God for every opportunity that that he had for me in this Sport and now that I have to enjoy and with this and win it it’s even more Tasker congratulations guys back to you all you want in the finals man is a chance to have history like you made back in 15 like Bryce Harper made when he rallied for a win Bobby wit Jr came up literally a couple of feet short T Oscar Hernandez is your 2024 Derby Champion as he just said the seventh Dominican player to win the Derby and what a night for him and that’s pretty cool right there too to see vad Guerrero Jr who was clearly rooting for tasa Hernandez having a great laugh and congratulating Whit Jr I get the sense this is not going to be the last time Bobby wit Jr does this no without a doubt this guy came in here he said he wanted to have fun and fun indeed he did have but I think at the end he wanted that one B with the hometown crowd here for him congratulations to Tay Oscar came in here and enjoyed every second of it how cool was it that everyone in the stadium was standing yeah I mean that’s how close it was give a lot of credit to the way they changed the format and it worked man it worked it sure did work top
