you want to be involved in the next video talking about trades and interact with the channel make sure to like this video And subscribe and go to the community tab on my Channel right now and look out for all the newest things but if you subscribe you’ll be notified every single time I ask you guys a question so what was the question that I asked and if you see me look over it’s cuz I’m going to be reading and you guys will see it on the screen as well but I put send me your melief mock trades and I will feature them in my new video coming out comment below to get in the video so like I said if you subscribe you will see notifications like that so that way you could get in the video and there were a lot of really interesting requests a lot of really interesting players involved but you could tell that there were a few players that were uh mentioned a few different times and it does make a lot of sense because of the way that the off season has gone and players that have been named and a lot of you guys mentioned guys like Nick Robertson Timothy lilligren and you know I I kind of want to start off with this one and and I’ll and I’ll let you know why because I just don’t think it would be one that works and that is lilligren plus the rights to to Nick Robertson and Marner for Dello Peretti and Lowry now this is a big trade but in my opinion this is one that the Leafs would be severely overpaying on and I know some people are going to look at me sideways and think okay come on like that’s ridiculous you’re a leaf fan of course you think that way but you’re giving up lilligren a right-handed shot defenseman that you know a lot of teams could use on their bottom pairing or potentially if he turns out to be decent can’t say decent he’s already is decent if he turns out to be good then you know that’s a good piece to have Nick Robertson with an opportunity looks like he could be a 20 goal scorer I mean the guy scored 14 goals last year for the Leafs in playing like 10 or 11 minutes a night that’s not a lot of time and of course Mitch Marner a guy that knocked on the door of 100 points a season for yes great talent in Winnipeg but I think Mitch Marner is worth two of those pieces and then you’re going to throw in Nick Robertson and Timothy lilligren it looks like the Leafs would be overpaying on this deal and I don’t want to go too in depth because this is one that I want you guys to comment down below definitely um at Mig 3598 thank you so much for your comment but I do believe that the Maple Leafs would be the one that would say no on this I just don’t think it would be something that would work now we’re going to have those players involved again because this comment coming from Robert Stacy 63 says lilan Robertson for Ross Colton now this is a trade that’s been talked about so many times by so many people the M Le should go out there and try to acquire Ross Colton and I’m not excuse me I’m not against that I’m not saying that you guys are wrong by trying to go out there and get Ross Colton but if we’re going to take a look at the maple leaf side of pieces here Nick Robertson again is 22 years old 14 goals last year and like I said his average ice time was around 11 minutes and you know the the way that Robertson has scored in his career INE junor and and with the Marley and everywhere else it’s not hard to see that there’s a ton of potential there but some people don’t believe that he’s hit that potential including myself now the reason why can be on the player but it also could be on the development of the player and I still believe the Maple Leafs haven’t developed Nick Roberts in the way that he should have since the beginning of time since he literally started with the map Leafs and they threw him into a couple playoff games as a teenager they they thought that it would work they thought maybe this will be the time to put him in there they barely played them and then Sheldon Keefe over the last couple years barely played them the Maple Leafs now in modern day are in a situation where they need cheap Wingers and guys that can fill out the bottom of your lineup that can score a bunch of points that potentially could bounce up in the lineup if they prove that they can score a bunch and some people are going to hate me for this but I do think Matthew NIS is fantastic but there’s time during the regular season where he kind of falls off a little bit and I’m wondering if the map Leafs if they can hold on to Nick Roberts and try to see if when one of them are playing bad the other one could step up and maybe W they fight back and forth for that spot but the problem is is that I do believe Matthew NIS is a Better Built player for the playoffs and he proved that so if he’s going to be building off of that this guy’s going to be dynamite and then if we go to Timothy lilligren again right-hand shot defenseman who just got the $3 million per season can put up a few points plays almost 20 minutes a night that’s almost the same average as like a top four defenseman so he plays a bunch of minutes maybe now he’s comfortable he’s got the contract he starts to feel a little bit better this new leafs blue line is a lot better than it’s been in the last how many years bringing in guys like tanv you have benwa firmly in there now you’ve got McCabe who is probably the best Leafs def defenseman last year Morgan Riley has a real partner in tanv and then bring in O Cup champion can put up points maybe could take lilligren to the side and try to teach him the ways of how to be a good Puck moving defenseman but if you do make a trade for a guy like Ross Colton maybe this makes some sense now he’s got a $4 million capit so if you’re trading off a potential Robertson extension would be over a million I’m guessing and then you know lilligren at is $3 million you’re probably averaging the same amount with Ross Colton he had 17 goals in 2 2 3 points or sorry 23 assists for 40 points uh he is 27 years old so you’re you might be getting his ceiling he might be you know a 20 or less guy at this point of his career but I don’t see a problem with this trade I don’t think it’s completely off the board to think this is a move that makes no sense I think that this actually does make sense it could be a potential move for the map Leaf so I don’t think that this is a bad trade it’s just there are some consider ations for both sides why they would or why they wouldn’t make the deal there’s some people that agree that the Leafs might be giving up too much and some people think that maybe Ross Colton is worth more than both of them you guys comment down below I would love to hear that now you know I’m going to be making videos out of a bunch of these comments so I’m going to take one more because this is a pretty big topic of discussion because it involves Mitch Marner again but this one seems a little bit more realistic even though I’m not too sure that either side would want to do this and this comment comes from John LeBlanc or Jo John John LeBlanc I don’t want to be disrespectful hopefully I’m saying that correctly John LeBlanc 2436 Marner for niches and Drury now the reason why this one sparked my interest a little bit is because I do think the Maple Leafs do well in a trade if they would get a guy like niches and jury who has some maybe some potential to to put up a little bit more points with with an opportunity with the mapel Leafs and maybe you know hasn’t reached his full potential with Carolina but at the same time Mitch Marner is pretty it’s pretty damn valuable and I think again maybe I’m just being biased because I’m a leaf fan but I think there would still have to be more coming from the other side from Carolina but if we’re to look at Martin niches 25 years old no contract right now of course uh there’s there’s some issues there with Carolina but 24 goals 29 assists for 53 points so you’re replacing Mitch marner’s like 90 plus points with a 53o guy but then if you’re adding in Jack jury you know 27 points eight goals 19 assists the guy looks like a decent player 24 years old plays on plays the center position which would be good for the maple but I I do believe he also plays the wing I could be completely wrong here but he hasn’t reached that full potential he hasn’t maybe reached the seiling that what he could be but when you start getting into the 24 to 26 range and you’re still kind of like what is this guy you have to be a little bit careful especially for a trade like this so if I’m the Maple Leafs I would be going okay niches Drury and then what like there has to be another piece there probably a pick a high pick and maybe Carolina thinks that that’s too much hell maybe you guys watching us think that that’s way too much in a trade but if I was to to just give my opinion I believe that this is a move that Carolina would have to give more up even though I actually don’t mind the groundwork of this trade the the Leafs might actually have to put in a player there as well just to kind of see if they can balance out contracts because I know Carolina spends a lot of money and they let a lot of guys go because they were watching how they were spending their money and they’ve added as well I don’t know I want you guys to give your opinion on this one I want to see what you guys think and thank you guys so much for your comments and if you’ve commented on this post already there’s still a chance I’m going to go and take more of those and include it in my next video but if you’re watching this right now go comment on that post I’m going to be taking a look at it so if you’ve got your own mock trades go in there make sure to to comment and and let’s have some fun with 1. I mean, we have to assume one of the model's of success would be the current Champions, Florida and recent winners like Las Vegas type rosters. The Leafs need to make every move with the intention of building a team to compete against those teams in particular. And, as much as that would include Edmonton and Colorado etc.. It is the teams built like Florida, Vegas, Boston I think are somewhat easier to put together, since All-time caliber players like Mcdavid, Cale Makar's are impossible to mimic anyways…
We should be only thinking about a 'Playoff Roster' at this point in time for the remainder of "the window of opportunity" and start with building around 1 or 2 higher end players (say Matthews, Nylander). If the other salary cap-burners have trade clauses, well then wait to free up as much cap space as possible to add pieces that give the team the proper depth that it needs, say the 4M – 5M type's players that can boost the rest of the lineup.
I do love the additions of Tanev and OEL to start with because as a huge supporter of Mccabe and Benoit i think Tanev immediately becomes the best "prevent" defender on the team. Tanev did well for Dallas, O.E.L looked good from the games i watched in the Cup Finals, I presume he had a great run the entire playoffs.
All in all, unfortunately, i think this mess could take Brad Treliving a while to build the kind of a roster to contend, but in the meantime, i guess we'll just have to watch and see what plays out.

Keep up the great work Andrew

  2. I love Ross Colton as a target, but what I will say is this particular trade doesn't work for Colorado at all. I think the value is fine, but the only reason for Colorado to entertain moving Colton is to re-gain cap space and this deal once Robertson is extended would actually cost them more cap. Yes, it would be for two players, but with Makar, Toews, Girard and Manson as their top 4, the Avs don't really have an immediate need for a guy like Liljegren so they would probably be much better off going real cheap on their #5/6 D as they've done with the Erik Brannstrom signing. In my assessment, the Avs IF they are forced into moving Colton will be looking for picks and/or a replacement center on a cheap deal.

  3. If they don't pick up any more really good wingers, they should put Robertson on the second line with Marner. Robertson's looking for the pass, Marner's looking for the shooter.

  4. Personally I can't stand Timothy lilligren way overpriced for that type of defenseman also when it comes to Nick Robertson he's got to go to only because it seems like he's not going to take the mentality most players would take and I know it's part of its his age means new coach New opportunities how we should have played it but I don't think it's good for morel keeping a guy that doesn't want to be there

Personally at least two strong two-way forwards and as for a defenseman maybe a prospect p that does have the ability to move him up and down that isn't going to complain about it I've tried to take part in your conversations and it's rare that you end up catching something I've said hopefully you've got this because I prefer your videos over say Steve dangle because of the wild like eccentric in your face approach he has like when I first saw his stuff like yes he's smart but how he starts the video with the Leafs win at the top of his lungs and stuff like that I like the fact that you take a calmer approach which gives somebody a reason to go this guy I can open up to and say all right seems like they got a good head on their shoulders you make that better first impression being calm

  5. Andrew, I’m sorry but I don’t see Robertson working in this Leafs team that already a bunch of soft core F’s with not enough heart and tons of skill and it doesn’t get us anywhere. If we’re gonna keep them all or even 3, don’t see Robertson being a good fit on this team.

  6. Also trading Mitch Marner at all I'm sorry man that's been rumored every year he's the centerpiece of our power play one of the best playmakers in the league also has always been a strong two-way forward that's the type of player you don't want to freaking trade people got mad over last year only having 86 points well hey they praised Willie when he got 40 goals for the first time when did he have 86 points people forget Mitch played in the playoffs hurt and he came back with only a few games left her after being out for about 13 which was close to a month and a half treating him at all stupid your best penalty killer your best two-way player and yes he is the guy that literally him and Matthews are a one-two punch the skill sets complement each other and unlike will who everybody wants to praise I can't stand nylander over what he refuses to do which is Play Strong defensive hockey Matthews and minor both took on the approach defense not only wins the game but it also wins championships who killed himself had already said no player on the Leafs has played like me since I've been here myself and anybody that doesn't know who killer is sorry you're not a leaf fan and what who was his hockey hero when he played in London Mitch wore number 93

  7. If you're trading Robertson you need to get like a Bowen Byram type of Defenseman but you gotta keep Robertson, play him with Matthews and Marner see what happens

  8. The Colton proposed deal is a good one, though Avs may have little interest in Liljegren. Necas, Drury, and a 2nd round pick would be fine. Canes won;t give up any more than that. I propose Liljegren to the Oilers for Evander Kane. Oilers retain 1M of his 5.25M salary. Trouble is, what is Kane's current health status? Oilers likely would want more than a 7th D-man, so there's that as well.

  9. I think they should look at moving on from rielly, go after one of the available big fish, ekblad, trouba or weegar.
Rielly Robertson is who I'd star with for for ekblad
    Or trouba, or weegar

  10. Robertson won't reach his potential in toronto, I don't care of he scores 50 eveey year somewhere else, plus I'd rather have maintenance or Cowan over him

  11. The first trade would just never happen. Marner alone is way more valuable than those players. The Colton trade I really like. Only unfortunate thing would be that the Avs are trying to trade him to free up cap space and if they did that trade it would totally defeat that purpose. The necas trade I really like, but again I also think that the canes gotta give us more for Marner.
