  1. Surprisingly low from Maine. I know it’s a small state but all they care about up there is Lobster and Black Bear hockey.

  2. Ike to see this per capita as Ontario with 14x the population Saskatchewan skews how productive an area is

  3. Indiana:

    John-Michael Liles is from Indiana.

Donald brashear was born in Bedford IN.

Jack Johnson was born in Indianapolis.

Gretzky played for the Indianapolis Checkers and graduated from high school there.

    Ken Klee – Indianapolis

    Grant Hutton – Indy

    Drake Batherson – Fort Wayne

  4. Wow, it’s crazy how much of an effect weather seems to have on this. Maybe because it makes ice freeze more often and thus encourages play? Idk but something about it definitely seems to be having an effect

  5. Next we need a player quality by state/province map

I’d assume Florida’s pretty high up there

  6. Oklahoma City is interesting. As a long term location for minor league hockey for a number of years, that state has many hockey players that settled down in OKC and Tulsa.

  7. And like half of those from Washington state are currently part of the Kraken organization. Francis likes his home boys.

  8. How are you counting this? Like where they are born, or where they started playing hockey or? Like for example AZ, does Auston Matthews count? He was born in California but grew up in Phoenix. On the other hand, Matthew and Brady Tkachuk were born in Scottsdale but raised in St Louis. Where do they get assigned?
