get ready for enlightenment Enlightenment now let’s go we’re going to talk about the Indianapolis Colts no Indianapolis Colts in the top 50 in Pro Football Focus that seems odd there 32 teams there can’t be that many players better than the best player on the Indianapolis Colts can there be well they’ve only released 31 through 50 to this point but it would seem unlikely that the Colts would Place anybody in the top 50 or the top 30 given the way pro football R Focus rankings work and the way we’ve examined the rankings there’s nobody near the top of their position group and as a result we’ve got to assume you thought that maybe DeForest Buckner maybe Bernard Ryman or uh Braden Smith would no s of the top 50 somehow someway no that has not happened without a player in the top 50 how the hell do you win a division that’s the question and that’s the criticism of Chris Ballard if where is the Excellence and without Excellence can you win well they’ve added three guys via the draft and they’ve got other guys coming into their sophomore year who may be about to crack that top 50 and they’re going to need multiple guys to do it including Anthony Richardson but here’s the thing too it’s in the aggregate the offense if it functions well functions well because of the wide outs because of the offensive line Anthony Richardson is going to benefit and his statistics are going to land him in the top 50 so the offense playing at a really high level that puts Anthony Richardson in the top 50 and that could mean that the Indianapolis Colts wind up winning the division look here’s the thing it’s July 16th they’re going to lose a game until September 8th no matter what happens they’re not going to lose the game that matters until September 8th that’s like what is that 8 weeks close to 8 weeks I’m not worried about being joyous about being hopeful as we discuss the Indianapolis Colts because we’re not going to be wrong about that for a really long time yes the Colts haven’t won an opener since n or 19 no it’s been sooner than that or more recent than that it was 2013 that the Colts won an opener so it has happened in you know what though you’re going to have fifth graders going to school this fall who have never been alive as the Indianapolis Colts won a season opener that’s crazy we’re going to talk about it a little bit we’ll talk also about the All-Star game which there is’t going to be one in the top 30 so the Colts do not place a player in the top 50 how does a team without a player in the top 50 win the division well it acquires players who move into the top 50 because they succeed what comes first the success or the ranking the success comes first then the ranking Anthony richon is a guy in his second year with the Colts there were people last year who said look he shouldn’t play he should just sit monitor what goes on learn the NFL game and then play as a sophomore there were those who said no you throw them in the deep end of the pool and you see if he can swim well they kind of did both they threw him in the deep end of the pool he uh tore his AC joint while trying to learn how to do the butterfly they pulled him out of the pool and he sat and watched other people swim for the rest of the season so it was kind of you know what they split the baby it was six of one half dozen of another and because of that maybe he’s ready to have one hell of a second season Josh DS had a really good rookie season is he going to be good enough to crack the top 50 could Michael Pitman Jr who keeps keeps moving forward he keeps ascending statistically year after year after year after year could he in year five of his career could he finally pop into that top 50 how about Jonathan Taylor he’s been in the top 50 before 2021 he was really really good the last two years he has failed to play all 17 games but last year playing 10 games he averaged 74.1 yards per game you PR rate that over 17 games that’s over 12200 yards so he’s still productive when he’s on the field he just got to stay on the field for 17 if he can do that he moves into the top 50 how about quiddy pay or leat to latu one of the edge guys has got to be in the top 50 I don’t think it’s going to be Samson ebom he’s about 30 and you kind of we we’ve seen the best football I think that he’s got same thing with the forest Buckner now on the offensive line side of things Bernard Bernard Ryman he could get into the top 50 he could wind up being a top five offensive tackle Braden Smith too if he can stay on the field for 17 games so it’s possible and then you’ve got the orchestra leader the maestro of this group just like Mark metap playing the Maestro Bob Cobb on Seinfeld the Maestro is Shane styken can he take all of these different parts put them together and have that offense really really hum for 17 games next year scoring 30 points plus a game I think they can I think he can I think the Colts have the manpower to be able to do it and I think they got the guy with brain power to put all the people in the right spots to make that happen I think the Colts could get that done and if they do you know what we’re not going to worry so much about that defensive secondary that looks leaky right now we’ll start to find out in just 8 days in 8 Days the Colts they’re going to be at it and by the way good for the Indianapolis Colts and the earth safe family for continuing to put out there this product for fans they’re one of eight teams in the NFL that practices offsite during training camps so there are going to be 12 workouts open to the public I think seven of them for free five of them cost five bucks ahead not kids they’re always free but you got to get tickets in advance and it’s really a cool deal good for the Colts let’s they signed Michael Pitman Jr to an extension they’ve got joshs they’ve got Alec Pierce who is a second round pick two years ago they got their guys Anthony Gold return specialist but he’s a backup at the slot and then you’ve got Ashton D who is likely to make the roster as well at least on special teams and he’ll get a little bit of run at wide receiver the Inn is full Brandon iuk the the Colts are not going to spend for Brandon iuk at the level the 49ers will require in order to pry him loose Brandon iuk is going to make this year in the final year of his rookie deal he’s going to make 14 plus million doar he wants more he’s wor more 75 catch last year 1342 yards at 17.9 y per catch that is huge my questioning is for Gus Bradley will the defensive backfield be worthy I don’t know whether look this is a question we’ve got answers we watch these guys is it Gus Bradley’s scheme or is it the Personnel in the defensive secondary that’s the question we’re going to figure it out this year and as far as Chris Ballard look he uh in track table in saying and acting as though the only way to build a football roster is from the inside out he builds the offensive line he builds the defensive line and moves out from there that’s what he does he says it this is how I build this year he’s got his offensive line all five starters return the top two guys the top two backups they return and they’ve added two new guys that they drafted in the third and the fourth round that’s his line defensive line wise he got 10 guys who are really pretty damn good Buckner Stewart Davis uh pay odango latu eicom you you got lots and uh did I say tawan Lewis I think I did I think I hit all 10 or I’m close to all 10 but they got 10 guys so this is his dline this is his off offensive line if they can’t win with this construct this year got to blow it up you can’t have a guy continue to talk about building from the inside out and then have the thing built from the inside out and it’s not successful and and just keep running and back and running and back and running and back you can’t do it uh let’s talk about Caleb Williams he is still unsigned by The Bears The Dun four years $22.7 million rookie deals all pre-negotiated what is Caleb Williams doing why make this dramatic I don’t like drama this is a drama guy drama at USC last year USC loses so what’s he do he goes up into the stands in the stadium instead of leading his team in the locker room and saying boys we’re going to get it next week let’s go and leading in there he cries in the stands with his mom M that can you imagine pton Manning doing that can you imagine Tom Brady doing that can you imagine Lamar Jackson doing that I can’t I can’t imagine Anthony Richardson doing it and an Anthony Richardson he League Baseball’s also star game what what is the point back in the day it was americ League National League they never played each other except in the World Series so you never got to see like Bob Gibson go or Tom sver or Ferguson Jenkins go to the mound and face Brooks Robinson or bu pow or Reggie Jackson and so it was cool to watch these guys match up against one another and they cared about the result of the game you got to see uh American league pitchers like Wilbur wood face uh you know a a guy like Ron Santo or like Henry Aaron or Willie Mays it was awesome Wilbur wood I went to Wilbur wood as an example of a great americ leag pitcher can you tell that I’m from the city of Chicago um so the the woman ingred Andre she sang the national anthem last night or at least tried to so here’s what she said on social media today about her performance I’m not going to y’all I was drunk last night that’s what she said after one of the worst trenditions in the national anthem which was honestly tried to be performed correctly right you know like Roseanne Bar was a disgrace thought she was funny singing the National Anthem that’s not what people do with the national anthem this lady ingred tried to sing it correctly but she was hammered couldn’t do it I Karaoke people don’t they usually sing better when they’re hammered this woman did not so she has entered rehab and then she said at the end of her post on X she said I’ll tell yall how fun it is when I get out what what’s going on so ingred somehow who let her go out there just blitzed and and had her saying that is irresponsible whoever the organizer of the national anthem was you got to have some kind of way to look at her I think she’s drunk that lady’s drunk we can’t have her sing the national anthem what the hell do we do well we send her out there no you don’t solve the problem by pretending you don’t have a problem you either need a backup you need somebody to go out there and sing that song or you just don’t have anybody sing the song you don’t have Angry go out there swacked on tequila warbling all over the place out of key and hope it’s going to turn out okay yet like that’s not that’s that’s problem perpetuation not problem solution you got to be in the problem solution business tomorrow morning breakfast with Ken I can’t wait to talk to you then an optimism Wednesday very very special
