Detroit Lions WILL DOMINATE the NFC North!
as time gets closer it is almost time for Lions training camp and then then before you even know it it’ll be the preseason and before you even know it it will be week one I absolutely cannot wait for that and and just not to interrupt you I won’t do this all show but it also July 17th it’s the birthday of bada bing bada boom in the chat one of my favorites in there bad bing bada boom happy won a match yet in over 6 years I take back my birthday wish I’m kidding Brer looks like he wrote a wild dingo into work while going fisty cuffs with a few Gators on the way damn clarify in this context what Dingo and fisty means I think I think fist cuffs is like I know fisticuffs like it’s too easy too easy oh my there might be some fisticuffs at Lion’s training camp there might be some fisticuffs at Lion’s training camp and before we get into the lions in the NFC North conversation Mina kimes we all know Mina Kim she was kind enough to join the Woodward heavyweights a while back she names she named DJ reer to the Lions as one of the under the radar offseason acquisitions on Sports Center she also mentioned Andrew van GLE to the uh Vikings but yeah DJ reader I think we would all agree in terms of I I mean it’s it’s in some ways it’s not under the radar but in other ways it’s like yeah Brad Holmes didn’t make the denal hunter signing or the Brian Burns or anything like that but DJ reader is kind of exactly what this Lions team needs and I think it’s going to make a huge difference on their defense so do you agree with Mina kimes that DJ reader is one of the uh better under the Raider offseason signings in the NFL I do I do and and and she said it it was either on Sports Center or NFL live and I’m trying to remember what she said about it but I think because DJ reader wasn’t in that category of the Christian Wilkins the the those massive defensive tackle cont contracts it just kind of uh you know it wasn’t at at the start of free agency it it took a couple days but then the Lions poun and it’s a a really Team friendly two-year $18.5 million deal it just kind of happened and we feel the excitement but I don’t know if it’s getting enough love nationally that is actually a better comparison I think the Christian Wilkins one because Christian Wilkins makes a lot more money but I’m not so sure he’s going to be more effective on the Raiders than DJ reer is on the Lions but uh we shall we shall see how that plays out Fox Sports they predicted the uh NFC North records and JB I know we have the graphic the projected records for the NFC North teams are as follows they have the Lions at 11- six the Packers also at 11 and six the Bears at 9 and8 and the Vikings at 9 and8 so it has the Packers and the Vikings the Packers and the lions having the exact same record 11- six and the Bears and the Vikings all the entire NFC North has a winning record so Matt Brer I got to ask you how reasonable are these predictions I think they’re close I don’t know if I agree with all of them like I think the line 11 and six I’m cool with that prediction even the Packers having a good season I don’t know if they have 11 wins in them but I expect them to at least be at 910 and then depending on what we see maybe they are one of the better teams in the NFC um especially if Jordan love continues how he played uh the second half of last year ‘s 9 and Eight’s a little aggressive for me but the real one is the Vikings who if JJ McCarthy starts at quarterback I don’t see them winning more than five five to seven games maybe five or six games I I’m trying to find in my notes they their schedule I don’t know if you realize the gauntlet that they start this they could very easily start the season 1 and S they start with the Giants they go to the Giants so to be honest although they’re the Giants who knows they got to Vamp defensive line we don’t know what they’re going to look like but then they go 49ers Texans at the Packers Jets Lions Rams Colts Jaguars brutal holy I think that’s where it ends so that opening stretch if I remember them first off you have to start Sam darnold I don’t know if they’re going to do that but that opening stretch could set him in a hole real fast and I don’t know if they get to eight wins that’s aggressive what 100% actually has him at nine which is uh that’s a winning record but we we we shall see and more on uh Sam darnold and the Vikings quarterback conversation just a little bit later uh Justin what do you feel about these uh these projected NFC North rankings where where are all these wins coming from honestly question like not every team can have a winning record in this Division and since 1970 I’mma pull up a flannel stat here since 1970 only one division has had four teams that have all finished with a winning record so we’re and that was the last year with the AFC North do you think that’s going to happen two years in a row when it hasn’t happened since 1970 the odds aren’t in your favor also I don’t believe the Bears or and the vi and or the Vikings are both good enough to get to 9 and8 specifically the Vikings but I also have big doubts on Caleb Williams and his 30 College turnovers where do you stand cuz the Bears to me flannel they’re they’re unpredictable like it it looks good like it looks pretty good on paper especially if you assume that Caleb will Willams is a competent NFL quarterback but we don’t know that that’s going to happen yet I’m not a fan of their interior offensive line so wh which one stands out in this group of I don’t know about that for you or is it pretty fair H I’m going to be the odd man okay I think that it is fair and a lot of it has to and I get it having all of the division wi W play the NFC North division having a winning record that’s 100% aggressive I would probably switch either the Bears or the Vikings to 8- n and maybe I would have the Lions getting one more win or something like that or maybe the lions having 11 and the Packers having 10 but I think it’s going to be one of the better divisions in the NFL obviously we know the Lions we we’re going to talk about them through till the end of time how how much we we believe in them the Packers they made the playoffs last year I like some of their Acquisitions like Xavier mckin and the in the safety room to is probably my favorite we obviously know Jordan love he’s probably primed to have another good year the wide receiver room they they’ve got a talented team the Bears I think the Bears are going to be good personally like 9 and8 by good I mean like 9 and8 8 and N I think Caleb Williams is going to be an upgrade over Justin Fields I like their receivers their defense the offensive line has some holes obviously and the Vikings one thing that the Vikings did that I like is that they lost denal Hunter that’s a big loss they lost DJ wanam that’s also a big loss they lost their pass rush but they did replace with denal Hunter I mean with with Jonathan grenard and Andrew van GLE and Andrew van GLE was so meim gave three different players around the NFL as her um underrated offseason signing Andrew van GLE was one of the three and aiz El shahir the linebacker who went from San Francisco to Houston to reunite with Deigo Ryan his coaching his DC and San Fran yeah and I got to give credit to this guy as well there was some talk about whether or not Justin Jefferson was going to hold out whether he was going to I know some people think that he’s a diva and everything but he did resign and you we all know that he is the best receiver of the NFL there’s no doubt about it one of the best receivers I’ve ever seen where you oh sorry goad go ahead I was just say what are your thoughts and you don’t need to go in in in too much depth because I’m going off script here but what do you think of Kevin oconnell like are you a fan of his yes I I ask you because I’ve recently turned I used to think he was just kind of goofy I didn’t really believe in him but honestly The more I’ve seen him both on quarterback with Kirk Cousins and with Justin Jefferson I’m receiver I I can see how he connects with his team and how he how how they respond to him so we know he’s a smart guy yeah I mean they made the playoffs his first year and I and I get it they were a bit of a fraudulent division winning team but they made it and then last year just to lose to the Giants that’s fine that’s that’s 100% fair but they did win that Division and then last season I mean Nick Mullen was the starter for half the year and then you had like a you had my God Josh dos and guys like that if Kurt if Kurt Cousins doesn’t get hurt maybe they do make the wild card maybe they’re in the Packers place maybe they beat the Lions once or like I I’d say once definitely not twice we we we shall see and I’m going to read a couple of these comments because I think some of them are wild Denver Blair just and I’ve never understood all of the love that and the fear that Lions fans have for Justin Fields he can’t throw worth a damn but that’s neither here nor there he says fear cayb Williams who hasn’t played a snap in the NFL okay but he says Justin Fields was a stud in college Caleb Williams was trash Caleb Williams had a Heisman Trophy bro like that that’s if you want to say that last season the the the Notre Dame game gives you cause for pause I’m not going to argue on that he went up against a tough defense did not look so good but to say that Caleb Williams was trash in college I think that’s absolutely insane and speaky and easy says something about too about the Vikings Dallas Turner maybe Dallas Turner is that guy that can step right onto the field and be a Difference Maker at Edge rusher you see that all the time andan you saw a couple years ago with guys like Hutch and Kavon Tibido so we shall see it’s going to be an interesting division that is for sure I want to get JB’s thoughts on this though lions at 11- six Packers at 11- six bears at 9 and8 Vikings at 9 and8 is that reasonable what changes would you make uh I guess it’s reasonable like I said I kind of agree with Justin I don’t know where they’re getting all these numbers and these wins from the Vikings that number definitely needs to go down quite a bit the Bears though as you said Caleb Williams has not played a down just yet so we don’t know what’s going to happen but I will tell you this the Bears can be scary if they get off to a good start and it all starts with him right there up front I know he hasn’t played it down yet and everyone’s projected him to be a very top QB in this league but you have to prove it and show it first yes so and that comes if he can actually do and perform well in this offense which you’re rooting against him for at the same time but you’ve seen him play in college and he is that damn good as flanel said he he has talent he has a Heisman the Packers uh maybe nine 10 wins there I I do expect some little regression from Jordan love I just think not a lot of teams were prepared for him this past season you just thought he was a a backup that wasn’t really going to do too much but now everyone has got tape on him and they know that the talent that he has so there is not going to be any more you know under the radar this for Jordan love anymore teams know what he’s has but it’s Lions above everyone else still Packers and Bears are two teams you got to worry about and it just you just got to wait till the season shows up no that’s that’s 100% fair I think we all agree that it’s going to be one of the tougher divisions in the NFL it’s not going to be as there’s going to be more tough games for the Lions but the Lions improved enough to where I think they can handle it and at the at the absolute worst be good enough to win the division although Lions aspirations are higher than that [Music]
