No love for Myers every time you talk about this rotation
Milner's problems have been exagerrated by some bad luck. But he can't be trusted.
Bullpen innings totals looks bad because the numbers are affected when we use "starters"
Add Matt Bush to the list of miserable Bullpen acquisitions.
glad to have u back after the energy drink scare chuck. if the brewers look as good as they did at the start of the season after this all star break then im excited to see what they accomplish in the playoffs.
Here's a move that Murphy might do. Start Rob Zastryzny in inning #1. Pull him out. Then, put in Jared Koenig who will pitch inning #2. And if Koenig's stuff is good, he can be stretched out through the 3rd inning. Then, bring in Bryse Wilson to hopefully pitch 3 strong, maybe 4. Then go to your late bullpen guys. High leverage guys if game is close, and low leverage if Brewers are up by 5 or down by 5 or more.
Peguero is way more reliable than Payamps… With Williams, Megill, Hudson, Koenig, Junis, Wilson (If he stays in the pen), Zastryzny and Milner available in relief, Payamps and Paredes do mop up duty or be dfa'd. As for starters, Myers has passed Freddie up, Rea more effective than Freddie as well. Am pinning my hopes that Civale can hold his own, make it to the finish line in one piece. D.L. Hall didn't show us much in his 4 starts, looked like he was throwing batting practice…I like charlesdarwin's philosophy of starting Zastryzny, followed by Koenig, then Wilson to go thru 7th or 8th, etc. Shopping for another starter at this point is pointless.
The injury bug is the only thing we can count on this year apparently
Does anybody know about the makeup of all the levels of the farm system – are they all draft picks from the current draft + previous years? Are there also undrafted players hoping to make the bigs, but mostly serving as warm bodies to fill out rosters? For instance, all the guys in Appleton – all former draft picks? Would enjoy a deep dive episode on this on some Brewer off day.
