Trying To Project Fabian Zetterlund’s Next Contract With The San Jose Sharks
Fabian Zetterlund had a breakout season for the San Jose Sharks and is entering the last season of his current contract. What are some comparable contracts if the Sharks wanted to lock up Zetterlund long-term? Start by looking at Zetterlund’s production from 2023-24 and what ESPN is projecting for Zetterlund to do in the 2024-25 season. Examine Seattle Kraken Eeli Tolvanen’s new contract and compare production between Tolvanen and Zetterlun. Then, while Alexis Lafrenière is a more skilled player than Zetterlund, their production is similar. How could Lafrenière’s upcoming contract affect Zetterlund’s? Next, Joel Farabee and Fabian Zetterlund have had similar production. Should Farabee’s contract provide a template? Finally, try to determine a fair contract for both Zetterlund and the Sharks and why the Sharks should look to lock up Zetterlund long term.

Btw, love the new backdrop. It makes the videos look awesome.
7 or 8 years is to long for a 26-year-old with one good season IMO. If he wants a short-term deal go 2 years at 4-4.5 mil. Give him 4-5 years at 5 mil if he wants a longer-term deal.
The Timo Meier trade is starting to reveal itself as a pretty damn good win for Mike Grier. Below are the 6 players the Sharks currently have from that trade. We’ve only lost 1 player from the trade (Andreas Johnsson to free agency), and Okhotyuk turned into Misskey..
*So we’ve now turned Meier into 2 very promising middle-6 forwards (Zetts & Musty), 3 defensemen (2 of them having very promising potential in Muk & Wall), and a 7th rd goalie.
It looks like, *worst case scenario, Grier will have turned Meier into Zetterlund, Musty, & Muk. 2 really good forwards and 1 middle pair Defenseman. And maybe Wallenius comes along as well (as a 53rd overall draft pick), and that would give us 2 forwards & 2 defensemen for Meier. And obviously if either of the remaining D man & goalie make the team in the future then that’s just the cherry on top.
But basically Mike Grier getting 3-4 players with tons of potential that make up a solid small core of supporting players for years to come, all for Timo Meier… yeah this dude is absolutely killing it in this rebuild. He definitely won the Meier trade in my opinion, and I think he maximized the return he got for Meier so far. We’ll see how these 6 players all turn out, and time will ultimately tell if the trade was good or not. But for right now, it looks like he freakin nailed it.
—Zetterlund (F)
—Mukhamadullin (D)
—Musty (F) (NJD 2023 1st rd pick)
—Wallenius (D) (NJD 2024 2nd rd pick)
—Misskey (D) (Okhotyuk turned into Flames 2024 5th rd pick)
—Korostelyov (G) (NJD 2024 7th rd pick)

For Timo Meier
Hey JD.. it would be cool if you did a video on Grier’s biggest trades and how they are looking so far. Break them down kind of like how I did with the Meier trade here. We are now learning who the actual players are that we’re getting from all the draft picks he has traded for. So it would be cool to see you break down his biggest trades to see who we’ve gotten in return and whether the trades look like wins or not, so far.
Just an idea, keep up the cool content bro 👍
Go Sharks baby!! The future is TEAL!!
Do u think there’s a chance Grier goes after askarov
4×4 is fair to me for both sides.
