  1. Last year in Detroit Sprong had 18G 43PTS in 76 games. The year before in Seattle he had 21G 46PTS in 66 games. He was on a 2Mx1 contract last year, 750k x1 the year before.

Btw, he was drafted in 2015 by the Penguins when Rutherford was GM and Allvin was their Director of European scouting.

    >The interest in Spring is high for those asking,

  2. He’d be great for depth scoring, but I can’t help but feel Tocchet would have an aneurysm when he’s out there on the defensive side of the puck

  3. We need a top 4 D. Not another bottom 6 guy. Smarter to save the cap space so that it can accrue during the season to see if a solid top 4 D becomes available.

  4. Just speculating here, but maybe it’s a scenario where they’re looking to shop Hoglander for an upgrade higher up the lineup.

And then they would sequence a Hoglander trade with signing Sprong to backfill Hoglanders roster spot.

  5. They could fit him in, but I only see them doing this if the are moving on from someone else. If Podz is just not going to make the team or they are in talks to trade Garland then maybe this makes sense. Otherwise where would Sprong play?

  6. He’s got a really bad concussion history. Good player but I feel bad for him with his injuries

  7. He’s basically Kuzmenko 2.0. I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on another Kuzmenko at around 1mil AAV but I wouldn’t go above that.

  8. This is just the media giving Canucks content in the dawg days of summer. Even though Dhaili is off the air this summer They are not signing Sprong

  9. Offensively, he’s really good. But he’s really bad defensively. I don’t see him meshing well with Rick Tocchet. Plus I think the Canucks have other needs like another top four defenseman.

  10. Put him on in the first period until we have the lead, sub in Nils Aman and its a net positive. Combining two polar opposite players, to make a decent one

  11. I wanted the Canucks to draft this guy. The shine has tarnished a bit but I still think he could help the team.

  12. Hmmm depends on price I guess? This isn’t ideal, but it’s also not a bad pickup if there is more coming.

  13. Like others have said idk how much of a stylistic fit he would be under Tocchet but it’s also important to note that he was drafted by Rutherford and co. so obviously there’s a relationship there

  14. Dhaliwal, the guy whose insider information ended in the Canucks signing exactly zero of the FAs he suggested the Canucks were chasing. Not one 🤣
