It is either he extends his contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he becomes a free agent and possibly signs with a different team, or he retires.

  1. I cant see him choosing to play with a different organization. Id say its very likely he re-signs with the pens

  2. I see him signing for a couple more years, and if he really falls off in that time, he’ll retire.

  3. They probably are going to extend him… he still has 2 good years or so left in the tank.

  4. He re-signs, no question. He’s already won his cups, he saved the Pittsburgh franchise and you know he has way too much respect for Lemieux and the league. Even if the team goes 0-82, he ultimately never plays for another team.

  5. At the end of the day it comes down to what he wants. I don’t know how important another cup run is for him when he already has won 3, so if by the end of his career he wishes to do that I’m sure the pens will grant him his wish. On the other hand if he wants to be a penguin for life he has earned his stay 30x over

  6. RE-signs a 3-4 year with the Penguin and if the penguins are struggling he gets sent to Avalanche for a one final run and retires

  7. I think we all expect him to end up in Colorado at some point if he doesn’t retire a Penguin. My friends think he’s going to finish his career in Montreal. I don’t see that happening.

  8. Hes gonna sign a 3 year or so and thatll be it. He will give them some semblance of discount but not as steep as in years past

  9. When his contract expires, he will stop being paid as per the terms of that contract

  10. I think as soon as Pittsburgh won’t be willing to give him 8.7 mil. He will retire.

Not sure when his contract is up. He might take 1 year chunks at 8.7, idk.

  11. Like all great players he will go to the Rangers for an outragious amont of money, play like shit, and retire in Pittsburg.

  12. Depends on how much he wants another cup ! He ain’t getting it with his current club

  13. You’ll see an influx of the first name Sidney in Pennsylvania for new borns for about 2-3 years XD

  14. The Penguins are going to spiral into a dark age. I’d like to say Pitt has a loyal fan base, but last time this happened they nearly dissolved.

  15. Signs with the Flyers to help us with MM and if he performs that as well as expected we will sign him for two more years for our Stanley Cup!

  16. Contract extension with Pittsburgh then majority ownership of the team. He’ll retire after playing a year with McKenna.

  17. He’s kind of a weirdo , and if memory serves his contract is 12×8.7 cuz his birthday is 8/7/87.

So I wonder if he’s going to be expecting 8.7 per again?

  18. Crosby finishes up his last year in Pittsburgh then signs a one year deal with Washington next summer so he can get Ovie over the hump to break Wayne’s record.

Sid/Ovie ride off into the sunset together while heads explode all over western PA and throughout Canada

  19. He will re-sign and the Pens will be garbage for a year or two, then the franchise will get another generational 1st Overall pick that will learn from Crosby. Bang-boom, your 2028 Stanley Cup Champions Pittsburgh Penguins.

    Edit. Spelling

  20. He is definitely #1 player from his generation of stars. Hopefully, he doesn’t sign with the Maple Laughs

  21. He extends with the Pens, probably like 3 years 8.7 per. As much as I’m sure he wants to win another, he always wants to win, it sounds like it’s just as important or maybe more important for him to finish his career in Pittsburgh. He’ll play as long as he wants to and ultimately, if he does go to whoever is GM in Pittsburgh and ask to go to a contender for another cup run, they’ll give him that, though I honestly don’t think that happens and he retires in 3-5 years a career Penguin.

  22. For his five years in the league he lived in Lemieux’s house, and Mario has strong dedication to Pittsburgh, so I can’t see Crosby signing with another team.
