I’m a new fan and want to get into baseball! I am a bills fan and unless I’m blind there are no Bufallo mlb teams. I legit know nothing about the standings or players besides the obvious ones like Aaron judge and such. I chose the brewers because they have no championships and they look like a young team! Can you guys please tell me things about the team that will be helpful to know? I hope to watch the team every other day!

Buffalo would be considered part of Toronto’s market. Toronto’s an AL team though and plenty of people have a favorite team in each league. There’s rarely a conflict of interest because they play each other so infrequently.
Welcome! You’ll fit right in. Like the Bills fans before football games, we love tailgating. Although, we admittedly don’t go hard enough to break tables. You guys are on a whole different level!
The Brewers since the late 2010s have been in their most successful window in team history in terms of making the postseason but it’s been difficult to get over the hump to consistently make deep postseason runs.
This past offseason, the perception around the team was that the Brewers would take a step back. Their long-time homegrown coach left for one of their biggest rivals in the Chicago Cubs. The Brewers traded their ace pitcher. But they have been a surprise this year. They are leading the division. For the first time in multiple years, they consistently have been hitting well. It’s been exciting that they’re a young team and have been successful.
Welcome to the club! I am a Brewer’s fan who lives in Buffalo and was a Bills fan first. No one in my family was into baseball growing up so I had to pick one. Wouldn’t root for the Yanks because they were the Evil Empire back then. Didn’t want to root for a foreign team, so I ended up looking out and finding love for the Brewers!
Small market team, great tailgating culture, best fans in the sport, a lot of stuff that related to me as a Bills fan. And so I’d pirate streams back then or just look at the box scores the next day, etc.
Fast forward to now where the first baseball game my first daughter went to was a Brewers-Cubs game in Milwaukee where Corbin Burnes batted in more runs than he allowed, in his Cy Young year. Was a bit sad that Yeli was out that game but Burnes made up for it.
All to say, glad to have ya and if you ever have questions or want to catch a game and a beer somewhere, let me know!
Be a brewers fan if you never want to see a World Series winner
I’ll let the diehard brewers fans chime in. 💙💛
But what I will say, is watch the movie Mr. 3000.
Best movie ever made. Miller park days baby.

Welcome to the club. I hope you’re ready to fall in love and have your heart ripped out repeatedly!
Here’s a quick overview of some of the players you need to know.
Christian Yelich: your new dad with a bad back.
We traded for Yeli prior to the 2018 season and he turned into and MVP. In 2019 he suffered a broken kneecap and later developed chronic back problems. This has caused him to seriously struggle over the last few years. He started to bounce back last year and had really come back strong this year before going back on the injured list just yesterday. He’s a fan favorite and when he’s out on the field he can still play.
William Contreras: you will die for this man if necessary.
Our catcher acquired prior to the 2023 season in an absolute steal of a trade. He had a great bat but was a defensive liability. Fortunately, the Brewers do this cool magic trick where they turn awful defensive catchers into good ones, and that’s what happened to Contreras. He was on an MVP pace to start the season, but has cooled off significantly since. Regardless, Wild Bill is still probably our best player.
Jackson Chourio: Azor Ahai, The Prince That Was Promised.
A 20 year old outfielder who has been the Brewers’ top prospect for a couple years. He flew through the minors with his combination of crazy bat speed and natural athleticism. He really struggled to start the year, but over the last two months has been hitting like the superstar everyone thought he had the potential to be. He’s already locked down to a contract that can be up to 10 years, so he’ll be a face of this franchise for years to come.
Willy Adames: the heart and soul.
A shortstop with incredible defense and great power for his position. His offensive comes and goes in waves, so he can be frustrating to watch at the plate sometimes. But more importantly he’s the lifeblood of the team. He brings the energy and leadership for the whole club. He’s an impending free agent and his asking price will probably be out of the Crew’s range, so enjoy him while he’s here.
Freddy Peralta: Fastball/Frustrating Freddy
Our ace starting pitcher our assumed the role after we traded Corbin Burnes and lost Brandon Woodruff for the year due to injury. When he’s on, there’s few better. But he has a tendency to nibble outside the zone a bit too much when he’s ahead in the count which can lead to outtings that are short and filled with walks. Still, he’s usually good for 5 solid innings.
Devin Williams: professional wall boxer.
Our closing pitcher who has missed the entire years so far with a back injury, but should be returning soon. His change up is so crazy good it has a nickname: The Airbender. He also advocates for heart health by semi-regularly having outings where he walks the bases loaded and has to pitch out of trouble under great stress and causing increased heart rate, irregular heartbeats and heart attacks to all fans watching. Remember to see a cardiologist after your first Devin Williams experience. He also once punched a wall and broke his hand right before a playoff series where the run that sent us home was scored in the inning where he would have been pitching. Some fans haven’t let him live that down.
Some other brief notes about the team as a whole:
Stolen bases go brrr
Bullpen = Good
Starting pitching = Bad
Pitching as a whole = injured to shit, but hopefully healing up
Welcome! MLB.tv is a great tool for watching the games live, archived games, recaps, etc., also other content from around MLB. For games that are not nationally televised, or against the Blue Jays, you’ll be able to watch the Brewers feed live, and even select the Brewers Radio Network audio feed, and maybe catch some innings of the legendary Bob Uecker on the call (home games only). He’s the wiley announcer in the movie Major League. Add that to your list if you’ve somehow missed it!
Others have shared so much already about the current state of the Crew but I recommend looking for videos of the late 70s early 80s Crew, specifically the 1982 World Series run, either on YouTube or actual DVDs on eBay. I was just being born around that time but that was clearly an important time for Milwaukee baseball. Also prior to the Brewers, the Milwaukee Braves inhabited County Stadium and won, I think, one World Series. They up and left for Atlanta in 1966, leaving a hole in the hearts of Wisconsin baseball fans, especially Milwaukeeans. We love our Crew in sickness and in health and even though they haven’t been to the mountaintop in my lifetime, we love that they’ve been on a continued run of success for the past 6-7 years.
Manager Pat Murphy is a boss.
The team’s mascot, Bernie Brewer, is based off a real dude who in 1970 decided to sit atop to the scoreboard at County Stadium until the team reached 40,000 fans in attendance – which ended up taking 40 days! There’s more to the story but that’s the gist of it.
Also, FTC!!
