Really good hitter under contract until 2026.
He’s a 1B and DH, so it seems like either Rowdy is gone or Cutch is being moved to the bench if this were to happen
He’s played 3B in the past also.
Still an upgrade over what we have but I would’ve been way more excited about this trade a month ago before Rowdy turned things around. Number one priority by farrr should be outfielders and getting Jack and MAT out of this lineup asap.
Yandy Diaz falls into that “he doesn’t play a position of need” issue as well, but he was such a monster in the past that I don’t see how you can say no to acquiring him.
I think Diaz would step in as their long-term 1B after this year, since I figure Tellez will get a decent UFA deal this year. But for the rest of this year, I’d be curious for how it played out.
Edit: thinking about it more, I actually think it’s pretty easy to put together how you’d set it up this year. The downside is that McCutchen would be demoted from “full time DH” to “bench piece against righties and DH against lefties”, but I don’t view that as a huge issue with McCutchen’s age and performance this year. If they get Chisholm as well, you’d run with:
Yandy has really good splits vs LHP so I’d imagine he’d at least be the 1B vs LHP if we trade for him. I’d imagine he’d get more playing time too but idk where else unless Cutch sits more games

I truly predict nothing is going to happen so if something does I can get that dopamine hit
Love when the Pirates start leaking the guys they’re “in” on and then never trade for. Gives the fanbase a few hours to rework the lineup that will never be.
Parades is the only Ray left that would improve this team, and it doesn’t make sense to trade him. Diaz doesn’t fit. Arozerena was the one to get.
Please no more trades with the rays. I don’t wanna give them another chance to fleece us with a guy we don’t need
I’d be cool with this.
He’d improve the ML roster and be around for a few more seasons at reasonable rates.
He can platoon with Rowdy and Cutch and is a legit ML hitter.
Question: Why can’t Cutch play RF? He has to be faster than Connor Joe.
