  1. I admit I haven’t been able to watch since the break, but this is a shock for me

  2. It’s honestly not much of a shock. It makes the most sense given service time and contract considerations, not to mention the pace Hinds was on was not sustainable. He only had one hit in the team’s previous four games, and his AAA numbers from this season suggested heavy regression. I don’t think this is the last we’ll see of Hinds this year but he will certainly benefit from more reps and playing time in AAA, he’s not even close to a finished product.

  3. Everyone who will come to complain about Rece being DFA’d over Austin Slater, this isn’t a move for the current team, this is a move for Rece. He has excellent power, but he needs to develop before he is ready to be an everyday MLB player. Striking out in 40% of his at bats and platooning is not going to develop him and set him up for his long term career.

He is probably better than Slater right now, but he is not ready for the MLB. One hot week does not change the fact that he is essentially Aristedes Aquino right now. If he cannot develop plate discipline his career will be just about as long as Aquino’s too. The best place to do that is in AAA.
