  1. Deal wise – this is a 1st class deal. If there was no player option for the 2nd year – this would be an incredible deal.
I'm not gonna repeat what is by now clear about Nuggets Owners, their FO and their GM – cheap, incompetent, puppet. Respectively. Should've Nuggets done more last off-season? ABSOLUTELY. Could've they done (and should they) more this off-season? NO DOUBT.
But, it's Denver Nuggets, it's Kroenke's and it's Booth. "More" is the word these people don't understand.
It's not Denver DNA to be something, to be successful, to achieve. Aspirations are low, expectations are none.
    So.
I'll focus only on this deal, in isolation. And. This is a great deal for nuggets.

RWestbrook is still a great NBA player. More – what he's going to bring to that g-league roster was sorely missing for a decade now.
With Westbrook and Saric – Nuggets will FINALLY have some character on the 2nd unit. Some leadership, some manliness, some fight. Next to those two – characters like Watson and Strawther will get some confidence, some learning and some spine.
I'm hoping some of Westbrook's testosterone will rub-off on Jamal Murray too (but I'm not very optimistic about it).

in essence – this gives Malone couple of options that he didn't have before – AND the 2nd unit that can actually DO SOMETHING and hold its own.

People talk about RW shooting… But he's NOT there for shooting. He's there to CREATE. And he's great at it. Penetrate/drive, go to rim, pass out/in, organize the offense, and he still can defend at a very good level.

And this is his last chance. I expect RW to be better than last season, and to be the most valuable player on Nuggets roster (after Jokic).

Westbrook is a man. Unlike Murray. 2nd unit will be formidable next season because of him. If Malone uses MPJ to stagger – the shooters like MPJ, Strawther, Saric – will have a very good season.

I'm excited about the Nuggets 2nd unit – Not so much about the 1st TBH. If Murray continues his decline, 1st unit will be a bi*ch to Wolves, OKC, etc.

So… Westbrook, Strawther, Watson, MPJ, Saric. Pretty good. With some staggering (Jokic, Murray, MPJ) – this can work, And actually give some rest to Jokic, Murray and AG.

    We'll see.

Bottom line – Nuggets org went the "poverty trail" – didn't do what's needed, and what was possible, to make Nuggets formidable again. But they didn't make a mistake with Westbrook.
