  1. They just need to send Anderson back to Columbus and maybe a young defenseman and then we can do the deal for Laine. I would be good with this taking a chance on Laine.

  2. With all of the pressure of playing for the HABS and being under the microscope and under constant scrutiny, Laine will collapse like a house of cards and will have to return to the player assistance program on a full time basis IMO. 😉

I am personally not in favor of Laine joining the HABS, BUT if Hughes & Gorton decide that the experiment is worthwhile I will trust their judgement.

  3. mabe a Dman like biron and a 3rd pick tops for laine. or give them a player like sean and get nothing back 😀 its mtl they will pay 3 times more and give caufield away lol

  4. Believe me i would love it, but I don’t think it happens, plus he needs to be in a spot he’s comfortable which might be hard with all the pressure here.

  5. The Habs need to take that kind of risk. There’s something to be said about Laine getting his ass in Montreal to be coached by Martin. I think we could see a completely different player happy to finally play hockey the way it was meant to be.

We can give whatever pick and if need be a prospect. We already have our furure assets, it’s time to make some moves. 🕺🏻

  6. What a shame for RHP and I wish him well. It will be difficult to reclaim a spot with prospects looking to break through. Also not good timing for him given this is his RFA season.

Regarding Laine, there are so many ? marks: Can he be anywhere close to the player he was after being in the assistance program for 6 months; does he have the positive attitude and attributes that Hugo have been drafting in players (will he be a good fit) and he has missed a lot of games the past 5 seasons. Hugo will obviously do their due diligence and will make the right decision.

  7. No! It doesn’t make sense to trade for him. He will collapse in Montreal just from the pressure of the fans.
Also, Patrick injuries are to risky! Look at the injuries this team has endured the past few seasons.

  8. I have wanted this since the start. From the start this was 10 saying no way to every one that wanted him. It’s almost 50/50 now. It’s like the stars have aligned to get him. I think people see that we can get him for a low cost compared to any other that has his talent. Know it’s a gamble but one worth taking. What can he do to our culture explain to me he’s going to be playing to salvage his whole career. If he fails just let him go and use the 9 mil elsewhere. When his contract ends we will just be able to challenge for the playoffs. Montreal may turn out good for him he’s not like that guy they just hired in Edmonton. Laine cannot fight but have seen him fight protecting his teammates. Got his ass kicked but at least tried. There are players that have niggling little injuries but his injuries were legit. The upside is a 2nd line of Dach Laine and Caufield and a 1st of Demidov Suzuki and Slaf or any combination or permutation. And with what we have coming down the pipe Roy Hage Xhekaj Beck any injury or no fit in our top 6 not a problem. Our 1st and 2nd PP will be a nightmare. So many shooters coming at ya. If they are asking prospect and pick give them our 3rd pick and somebody like Mesar or Kapanen. Then use Beck and Barron or whoever to get McGroerty. Then when competing chase Big time UFA. We need another RD for the future. Get in next years draft. Now figure out how to pay them all after entry level contracts are over.

  9. Sean Farrell needs to show up at take the opportunity

Heineman as well otherwise maybe time to move on from both

Maybe FLORIAN we already have wifi now just need a ROUTER

    Farrell maybe plays for RHP

    Heineman or Florian for Pezzetta.

Pezzetta doesn’t have a future here so the sooner they find the right guy the better.

Love his jam but team needs team toughness not one guy looking for a fight.

  10. There was a debate at the time, to who would go first in the draft between Matthews and Laine and Patrick finally went second.

A 6'5" sniper who still has lots of hockey left in him… will flourish in the hockey mecca under MSL

  11. Let's say you drop Dvorak and 2 2nd round for Laine.

You have a lineup in the likes:

    Caufield – Suzuki – slaf
    Laine – Dach – Anderson
    Gally – Newhook – Roy
    Pezz/RHP – Evans – Armia

In a year you add Demidov on the 2nd and see if it takes off.

Here every 4th line spot is up for grab for any youngster.

  12. Hes been close to a point per game every season except last one and he has one of the best shots in the league and is 6 foot 5. Pure scoring ability. Him slaf and dach would be a monster line, hopefully they make a serious offer

  13. A Demidov/Dach/Laine line could be dangerous alongside a Slaf/Zuki/CC line. Then the PP could be Demidov/Zuki/CC/Laine/Hutson Thats just pure offense
