Seattle Seahawks DL Dre’Mont Jones has interesting choice of words about Mike Macdonald
Seahawks defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones stopped by The Wyman & Bob Show on Seattle Sports 710 AM, where he had an interesting way to describe new head coach Mike Macdonald. Jones also touched on what the new-look defense might look like this season.

The Seahawks paid Dremont Jones to be a pillar of this defense. His 1st year was disappointing. He seemed out of position and he never really got it going. Under a new coach, with a new scheme, Jones has another 😅to make a fresh start. The Seahawks need a premier EDGE rusher. It’s possible that Jones be utilized at this position. Personally, I would like to see him lose 25-30lbs. Maybe concentrate a little more at playing a hybrid type role for the Seahawks. Mike can put Dremont in positions where he can blitz from different angles and looks. He will be a pest. A player that has to be accounted for in every play. Jones has to keep QB’s guessing. Distract them. Get sacks.
This “new” hybrid type role will give jones the ability to play a huge role in this defense. He has to play better. Do better. In this role the player’s main priority is to disrupt the QB. Stop 🛑 the run. It is a position that can make or break the player. He should film study and learn schemes so he can anticipate plays being called. McDonald can only put a player in a certain position or role. How that player plays in that role is mostly up to the player. He has to be able to adjust. Because he is given the ability to rush from different angles, Jones can anticipate pass or rush plays. His voice on the defense will be depended upon to give his teammates a heads up when there’s a passing play about to be run. Jones can also call audibles to adjust the defense when he sees it’s necessary. Jones will be almost like the defensive quarterback. Besides Love and Reed, Jones will be depended on to be a leader on this defense. I would like to see him have his best year yet. Maybe have a year like:
77 tackles 15 sacks 8 tackles for lost 3 forced fumbles 3 fumble recoveries 20 QB hurries 8 tipped balls 2 interceptions. Id like to see Jones be a dominant force in the field. Become a HUGE weapon that teams have to gameplan for. A QB’s worst nightmare. A pillar! Someone we can depend on who is available every game. A leader. A star ⭐️ player with good energy.
