  1. As a fan of both teams, I’m happy. Pearson can definitely have tough outings, but when he’s tuned in he can just look unhittable. But also, even during a bad outing, he doesn’t look fazed. There’s an upside to him that just hasn’t been fully unlocked, IMO.

It sucks for the Jays because our bullpen is in shambles and losing Garcia and Pearson will deplete it a lot. But I think Pearson could have a good home in Chicago

  2. Hm. Interesting. Small chance he figures it out and becomes valuable. Hopefully we just gave up some prospect depth.

  3. He hasn’t been very good, but 51 K’s in 40 innings this year and he’s only 27. Also used to be a top prospect. I’m guessing the Cubs think they can turn him into a good reliever. I’m also assuming they got him pretty much for free and they need someone to throw some innings for them the rest of the year, so decent move I guess.

  4. This is a buy low move. He has upside worth taking chances on and maybe a change of scenery helps. Nothing wrong with this.

  5. Former rd 1 pick, still young (27), FA in 2027. Get him in our system and see if we can turn him around. Doubt we gave up very much. Also definitely not a buy signal for this season

  6. Man does Jed love to acquire bad players who had a ton of promise many years ago. Intelligent spending?
