  1. Since July 27th, Cleveland is dead last in runs scored. Who could have guessed that their offense would fall off a cliff?

On the season, Cleveland is 28th or worse in barrel rate, hard hit rate, average exit velo, xWOBA, and xWOBAcon. The only other team to do that in the stat cast era (2020 not included) was the 2018 Marlins who finished dead last in runs

  2. We all know the bean-counting Pohlad’s won’t authorize a move for a SP who’s worth a damn if they have any “significant” money on their deal in ‘25. So in the rental market the only one left available that intrigues me at all is Flaherty since the Rangers aren’t moving anyone.

So unless they’re going to pry him from a division rival who could just hold him and get a comp pick, how fun would it be to see the Twins go get Pete Fairbanks from the Rays and just go bullpen gas on teams’ asses down the stretch and in the playoffs. Fairbanks is only owed $3.7 mil next year and has a club option on the next. I’d be pounding the table for that and maybe even 1 more relief arm and just go bullpen cannons on teams at the first sign of SP trouble in the playoffs.

Also how freaking stupid and annoying has it gotta be for Falvine in this situation? They make tons of moves over several years to get the roster where they want it and now when it’s time to strike and spend on an already pretty stacked roster to push us over the top and fully cement us as a contender, the Pohlad’s won’t even green light a move that adds a few million this year or several million next year to an already slashed payroll. G&G confirmed this when they said even Fedde(who’s only owed $7 mil next year) is basically off the table and they’d be shocked if they added that.

Maybe it’s homer-ism but truly believe this team is a legit playoff SP away from giving the O’s a real run for their money for the Pennant then once you get to the WS anything can happen. Even as-is if we doubled down on the ‘pen and added another fire-breather(Fairbanks and maybe even one more) I’d like our chances in the playoffs.

Nobody in the AL scares me really outside of the O’s(and they’re still real young so they could get knocked out before you even meet in the playoffs). The Yankees lineup is ass outside of Judge/Soto. Gourds are who we thought they were. Astros aren’t the same Astros of old. Rangers are down. Mariners can’t hit worth a shit.

Even over in the NL the Dodgers rotation has been a mess and Shohei isn’t throwing this year. The Phillies are vulnerable as we just saw. We competed with the Brewers while injured.

The list goes on. Now is the time to strike and take advantage of this already stacked roster yet the Pohlad’s wanna Pohlad. It’s a tale as old as time. I do think as-is this team is gonna contend(if healthy) and the playoffs are weird so you never know. But instead of relying on that why not strike and try to really cement yourselves there? Because Pohlads that’s why.

    Sorry for the rant.
