Probably needs to start swinging earlier then.
He has excellent first pitch numbers.
.397 BA with a 1.087 OPS on the first pitch. And a .753 OPS in PAs where he swings at the first pitch vs. a .680 OPS in PAs where he doesn’t.
Interesting then that pitchers aren’t pitching around him more (he’s been absolutely atrocious against sliders/sweepers/cutters this year, I’d definitely be throwing him one out of the zone to start his ABs.)

Half of those are 6” out of the zone.
