C’mon Dana Brown

Do something!!!

  1. If we can pull off a trade for Jack Flaherty, I would consider it a massive success. Then sign him to a 3 year deal.

I really wanted Isaac Parades too and the price seemed a bit low but the Rays are excellent at player evaluation so maybe it was ok. Just think we could’ve put something together for that price.

  2. Typical Houston nature. Wait to the last minute for everything.

Not saying it wouldn’t be bad, whoever they do get (Verlander in ‘17) but Houston sports in general wait too long.

  3. Yeah I’m getting a little nervous, considering some big names like Paredes are already off the board.

I’m fine with rolling with Singleton at 1B for the rest of the season, but we absolutely need major help with pitching, given all the injuries. I hope Dana has something good cooking up.

  4. I want Snell or Flaherty. Anyone else doesn’t move the needle enough for us.

  5. I said it a month ago. A trade for a middle reliever you’ve barely heard of AND “when we get Verlander, Tucker, and hopefully Garcia back, it’s going to feel like we made a big trade deadline move.”

  6. I’m honestly fine if we end up doing nothing in terms of pitching. With the amount of pitching we have coming off the IL in the next few months (hopefully), if we sign a middle of the rotation person right now, it would mean that in a few months someone we all like as a back end starter, or the person we just signed would be playing Triple A ball. To me that’s an awkward situation.

Honestly with the situation we are in now, if we just keep winning most of the games, come September we have most of our pitchers off the IL and we are in a good spot.

    Just my thoughts.

  7. Unfortunately we just don’t have a lot to offer right now. Tough to buy and sell when no one really cares what’s in your cart.

  8. We just don’t have the prospects to make a big move happen. And there aren’t a ton of sellers + almost every contender needs pitching. Tough market when you’re prospect poor.

  9. Astros like to come back late in games, so expect a late trade deadline move.

  10. Rather Dana do nothing than give our key pieces for the next few years for a short term rental

  11. We just don’t have any assets that would tempt anybody to trade anything of value.

  12. People expecting something NOT last minute clearly haven’t been paying attention

  13. I think the problem is who do we give up? We don’t have much in the way of viable prospects and I’m doubtful anyone is going to want to take a guy like Singleton in exchange for a 1B or Pitcher.

We’ll make a move, probably beef up the rotation, but nothing massive.

  14. Supply and demand, my dude.

We need pitching. So does most every other buyer.

Sellers are in short supply this season.

If supply is low and demand is high… costs go up.

  15. We pulled off some incredible last minute trades for Verlander and Greinke for essentially pennies. The only prospect from either of those deals that turned into anything is Josh Rojas, and he’s not exactly a perennial all star. Granted, those were Lunhow moves, but I still have confidence this org can figure out a way to get a deal done and put us in position to compete in the playoffs.
